**** that guy trying to get hit! 1-0

They really need to make that a rule that it's a strike or automatic out for doing that. Back when I played that got you a real beanball next pitch. Want to get on base by getting hit fine we'll give it to ya. Obviously can't do that in that situation though. Props for the Ump making the right call there.

Pretty cool that the ump called out that HBP. Can you imagine the cheating Astros outcry had that been allowed and they won?

I'm a bit surprised the Phillies are now favoured to win the WS. That was only the first game the Astros lost all plaoffs.

Because the Phillies only need to win 3 and the Astros need to win 4. That's why they're favored.
And 3 of the next 4 are at home, and Wheeler is starting the fourth one.

The Phillies have not lost any home games in the playoffs. They have also, probably despite not being favored in any of them, not lost any games started by pitchers other than Wheeler and Nola. (The NLDS loss was a Wheeler start and the NLCS loss was a Nola start.)

Seems like every time Verlander got lit up in Detroit it was because of his curveball was hanging.

Just watched the highlights again from last night and every big hit off him was an off speed pitch right in the zone. After 1-2 pound the fastball in different areas.

There's been plenty of sereis' where one team is so heavily favoured that they remain favoured even being down in the series. With Houston being such a heavy fave, I thought they still might be even after this game.

Given the nature of the MLB playoffs and Philly hot streak, not making them the favorite after 1 game would be weird.

Just not our night. The Schwarber almost homers. Bases loaded can't get a run in. It happens. Phils got 1 out of 2 in Houston. All that mattered.

I love how FOX casually glossed over last night Maldanado using an illegal bat Game 1 and MLB just said "Oh no worries you just can't use the bat." No punishment, no fine no suspension. Also Valdez kept going to his hands and glove even changes shoes and glove a lot? Thats not suspicious at all.

My other favorite line yesterday was how Dusty Baker was the right fit for this team. No really guys he's use to managing Cheaters. Barry Bonds anyone? Dusty was one of the managers in the PED era handing them out to his players like candy no different then Tony LaRussa.

If Maldonado became a pro one season earlier his bat would be legal.... not that big of deal

Plus the bat is only illegal because of splintering reasons..........not performance reasons. This is really a non-issue. Probably why it was "glossed over"
