Braves sphincters looking a little tight in the first 2 innings. Lot of pressure in this game knowing that Wheeler and Nola coming up next (and I get that you never know which Nola will show up)
Playoff baseball
It’s hard for the Braves. They were the best team in baseball all year by a country mile. They have the best player in baseball by a country mile. And yet they could lose in the first round against a team that may just be hot at the right time. But I suppose that happens in all sports.

They haven't played a meaningful game in over 2 months. They haven't played a real game in a week.

Wow. Kershaw's the ace of that staff now that Urias is on administrative leave and Buehler is on the IL? They might be in for a long, long series with lots of bullpen innings. Said they were considering using an opener as early as Game Three.

Would be wonderful, wouldn't it?

I think it’s particular prevalent in baseball because of the disparity in the number of regular season games vs the number of playoff games. Also the number of events that truly affect the outcome of a baseball game are less than the other sports.

Kershaw hasn’t been the same since July. I think the Dodgers do a decent job limiting his innings, but he wore down this year. I wasn’t shocked it happened, but I would have thought it would have been six over 3.1 innings. Sucks for him, sucks for Dodgers. I’d be surprised if they came out of NL.

They don't have the starting pitching to come out of the NL. If they get to a 7 game series, they'll be doing bullpen games for games 3, 4 and possibly 7. Bullpen games are so dangerous because you need every guy to be on. If one guy isn't, it's usually over. The Phillies just pulled one off in game 1 against the Braves. I don't think they'd be able to do that again 2 more times and win.

Bobby Miller is going to pitch 6 innings of 3 hit ball tonight and the Dodgers are going to bring the wood to even the series

6-1 Dodgers

I love when the home team is down 3-0, and hasn't got a hit yet, and the sound guy at the stadium starts with the "DAY.........DAYYYYEEEOOO" to get any life out of the crowd. Pretty good sign for the Phils

WOW WOW

What an ending!

That's why you backup every throw. Are you listening, Red Sox?

(They had a bunch of plays this year where they turned bad throws into Little League home runs.)

What an unbelievable play by Harris and Riley. Crazy ending. Braves were absolutely dead in the water after 6 and looked like their season was basically over.

It was. Now Phil's gave them life. They woke the beast. Let's see how it goes in Philly.

Harper, JT, Castellanos. Let’s see what they’re made of.

Made of reaching base and almost hitting a right-center field home run. Braves got lucky and had positioning and talent to get lucky. Great catch. Great no-doubles defense to get there.
Right on. The Phils never quit and I was actually pretty confident they were going to take the lead with those 3 guys coming up. Not sure who pitches game 3 for the Braves but I expect a high scoring game. I don’t have any faith in Nola in this situation against that offense.

Charlie Morton is likely up next for the Braves followed by Bryce Elder.

I think it would be a mistake for the Braves to not use Strider in game 4 (regardless of what happens in game 3). Braves bats better show up on Wednesday if Morton is pitching.

I think Riley's play was more impressive. The catch was amazing given the game situation but to have the forethought to be in the right spot and be able to make that off balance throw with that mustard and accuracy was incredible.

I thought for sure he was rifling that thing into the dugout.

ESPN says that it was the first time a playoff game ever ended on a double play involving and outfielder. Seems hard to believe that a game never ended with an outfielder catching a fly ball in the outfield and then throwing a runner out at home.

It was awesome to see he remained a player on the field and didn't just become a spectator. Something we constantly reminded our 14U team about this past summer.
