***Official - 2025 Major League Baseball Thread (8 Viewers)

I went to game 5 on a whim. I was surrounded by Phillies fans and each one was worse than the prior. It’s like they were being paid to fulfill the stereotype. I want them all to be sad.

I’m going to sleep well knowing these people are sad and hopefully hungover tomorrow.

Lol at Philly fans. Can't acknowledge your team got beat by a better team in a 7 game series. Your team only lost because it beat itself. Priceless. Won't watch a second of the World Series because your team isn't in it. Wah wah wah wah wah......
Who isn't acknowledging that?

Can you quote one post - just one - from this thread where a Phillies fan suggested their team lost a game to a better team in Arizona? I'll wait.

You're looking for something that isn't there (and I'm a Pirates fan for the record). Show me one post where a Phillies fan has claimed that they were the better team or that they beat themselves?

I know it's not there that's why I asked you to provide it. Instead it's "Turner Sucks!" or "I'm not watching 30 seconds of this World Series" or "Baseball is over until April" or "Another in the long line of Philadelphia collapses".

Not once did a Philly fan say "Man, Arizona is a really good team".

Right?

This is a weird take. People on a message board can be upset when their team loses.

All I can tell you is that Philly has an extremely passionate sports fanbase. I’m not surprised that their immediate reaction after a heartbreaking loss is to be angry. This was a series that they thought they had (especially going into games 3 and 6).

Did anybody read about the Torey Lovullo/Mike Hazen friendship? It's extraordinary. A friendship forged a decade ago, cemented in tragedy.

From ESPN, a human interest angle

Apologies if this has been covered or done to death during the playoffs over the air. It's new to me tonight.

That wasn't my take. Being upset is normal. Not recognizing the achievement of the team that beat you was what I was pointing out. Hell, even some Astros' fans came in here to tip their cap to their hated rivals in Texas for winning that series.

To be fair, the Rangers aren't a truly hated rival of the Astros just yet. With division realignment, etc that will take some time. I often just think of them as that Texas team in the other league. Plus with all this winning the past seven seasons, it doesn't hurt as much. I almost feel like we're playing with house money. Philly fans on the other hand know this was their chance after being up 2-0. They have a right to be salty.

Can you be salty AND be happy for somebody else? No, not in here. Instead it's this: "**** em"

Excellent ALCS. Congrats to the Astro fans here. With the money spent, not going to say this Texas team is scrappy, but they are ahead of schedule.

Memories of Nelson Cruz and David F'in Freese hopefully getting pushed aside by Garcia bombs, Seager and Semien paying off that investment, Carter and Jung showing they are ready and the pitching doing just enough.
not to mention the skipper that reminds us all of ourselves leaving the bar at 230 in the morning with that walk.

After living in NYC for so long and having a lot of family in Boston, I think it's an east coast thing that almost renders this impossible

Must be the weather.

Not sure anybody could have predicted Ranger -Dbacks even a month ago.

The Cubs and Arizona did not meet until the near end of the season. In about ten days, Arizona took six of seven games from the Cubs (three of four at Wrigley and a three game sweep in Arizona the next weekend) and altered the trajectory of both teams.

The Cubs were the #1 wildcard, Arizona was floundering, several games out of the playoff race.

Happy Game One to those that celebrate!!

As a long suffering Rangers fan, still hasn't quite hit, still waiting for the other shoe to drop, but about to pick up my son and his doggo and go over and watch the game with my Dad.

For Dean Palmer, Pete O'Brien, Bobby Witt Senior, David Hulse and Hank Blalock......LFG!!!!!

I wish I had somebody to watch this with - very happy for you and a little jealous. My dad hates baseball, my kids don't care about it and I have no friends here who like the Rangers. It's a lonely place being the only Texas Rangers' fan in the Pacific Northwest but if the Rangers do manage to beat the best team in the National League, I'll burn a couch cushion and turn over a Wiggles Car in celebration.

Outside of Carrol I don't know a single dback. Only know him for his ****ed up stance.
Never heard of Evan Longoria?
Figured it was just someone else with that last name
And first name?
I dunno.

I dunno. I mean he was sort of a thing a decade ago.

Can we just take a pause and realize that these athletes are not human? If any of us were hit in the hand by a 95 MPH fastball, we would be squealing like a baby for a good 10 minutes straight.
