Yeah, I hear you, but I used to sort of sleep and wake by these rhythms and every time I start watching for a while it comes back. It’s something I can’t help, I guess. But you’re totally right. It was a good season for the guys. I enjoyed following them this summer and fall. They were likable, professional but exuberant, and they were diligent and worked hard. Kudos to the young men that I saw in Anaheim this summer on a beautiful night where the crowd had me worried about baseball’s future but then filled in nicely on a random weeknight to leave me heartened.

As for the lineup, there were times this year it didn’t look too awful, but then you get to the playoffs and you’re missing a guy or two, the guys who were passable in the long slog of the season get their at-bats magnified against tough pitching, and you then realize that this was a herculean effort just to get here.

I have tons of earnest criticism and some of it is withering and unsparing, but I’ll leave it for maybe the baseball thread and let everybody in here enjoy this. Peace, man.

Mariners vs Tigers

Should be a very close, very well pitched series. Playoff baseball in October in Seattle? Just lovely visuals.

The Tigers road there was a roller coaster but they ended up where they needed to be so I'll take it. The season really starts Saturday.

The Tigers played really bad at the end of the year and they got a lot of well-deserved criticism. But they deserve a ton of credit for winning 2 out of 3 with all of the games on the road.

Seattle has a great team but we have Skubal in game 2 and game 5 if necessary so I feel pretty good.

Seattle won both games Skubal pitched against them this season. But playoff Skubal is a different animal. I just hope Seattle can get one of them in the DS.

Woo likely won’t be available for this series and that’s very unfortunate. Gilbert, Castillo and Kirby aren’t too shabby though.

As a life long, and playoff starved, Mariner fan I’m so pumped for this next week.

I'd agree with both of these statements. It was nice to have playoff baseball. I think that they might have thought the same thing about Game Two.

I was worried about their offense all series, and they just didn't look like they had any business being in the batter's box against Schlittler (an unfortunate name, all other things constant). He threw eight scoreless and made it look easy for such a young man (kid). C'mon, I'm sure he's good, but they looked terrible.
