***Official 3rd pick thread*** (1 Viewer)

Didn't see this thread and posted the below in the 4-6, Are you taking SJAX as well thread.I have a draft next week @ the 3 spot, non PPR and I am seriously looking at SJAX over Westy (Believe LT & ADP will be gone). My fear is that in a non PPR and bonus for over 100 yds rush/rec, Westy would have to follow up a career year and I just don't see it.I think he is a great player, but I am just having a very difficult time getting behind him as the #3 OVERALL pick, add in the fact he is gonna be 29 with injury history. On the other hand, you have SJAX who was the consensus # 2 last year, obviously got injured last year, but closed out the season extremely strong. We know he is going to get 20+ a game, catches out of the backfield, goal line carries and can simply run dudes over and is only 25.The offense appears healthy this year, so basically, does anyone have a legit reason why in a non PPR, SJAX should not be drafted over Westy?????I mean I buy Westy as a top NFL back, but as the # 3 overall FF back, I don't know......I
I've had the 3 pick twice and went SJax in both for these similar reasons. I get a bonus point for every rush over 20, so SJax was a no brainer in that league. I also get 5 bonus points for breaking 100yds rush/rec. Westy gets a lot of both, but I'm not sure he'll break the century mark in either single catagory without breaking some very long plays. Hard to count on that or factor it in to projections.STL just paid SJax a lot of money. They are going to use their investment as much as possible. I don't have to worry about anyone stealing carries, coming in at the goal line or a QB that can run it in.

This is going to be a gut call. I think Westbrook averages a whopping 1 carry less than SJax. SJax should be better for your bonus points though, as he's more likely to get a 30 carry game than Westy. Problem is I expect the Eagles to have the lead in the 4th quarter 2+ more X than the Rams. Westy actually gets to 100 yards rushing more than you might think...I'm still leaning Westy.

Team in my 14-team PPR is looking to trade out of the No. 3 pick, and I discussed giving him my 8th pick. He's all for it; I just need to pull the trigger.

Interesting debates both ways, but I'm leaning toward trading up to 3, and hoping it shakes out RB/WR/QB-WR/RB, for the following reasons:

* I'm just not sold on the RBs who'd be available. If I had to guess, the top 6 picks (not necessarily in this order) would be LT/AP/Westy/SJax/Addai/Brady. That would leave one of Gore/Moss/Portis/Lynch, and there are negatives with each. Westy or AP would be the much safer pick.

* I may miss out on one of the couple of the elite WRs at the turn (Owens/Wayne), but I'm willing to gamble that one of Edwards or AJohnson could slip. There's a lot more depth among the top WRs, but after the top 6 RBs, there's not much difference between RB7 and RB20.

* I'm suspecting Manning/Romo/Brees will go in Round 2, but if not, either one would be a solid value in Round 3.

* It seems like you could come away with a serviceable RB2 in Round 4 (Turner/Edge/Graham/Forte).

I'm picking at #3 in two drafts that I am actually going to be doing simultaneously. I am taking Westbrook in the league that gives .5/reception, 1pt/15yd rush/rec. I am, however, leaning towards Barber in a league with no points whatsoever for receptions and 1pt/10yd rush/rec. I may be doing this just to diversify my teams. Thoughts?
