Footballguy
any thoughts on what to do in this position? 6 pts for all tds including qbs, and 1 points for every 10 yrd receiving/rushing etx.....i figure ill be looking at west, addai, brady, jackson, gore....any ideas....thanks

Not so fast Mr. Red Sox, Brady's your homer I can tell.

If it's ppr, then I'd go Westbrook here. What are you looking at for 2,09??

in my league touchdown tommy went #3..now what??

westbrook or sjax???

risk-reward?

I'll know a lot more after i pay closer attention to the Rams o-line vs the Chargers tonight.

Let's get some renewed discussion on the 4th pick without considering the 6 pts per TD/PPR.

For standard 12 team performance scoring I suspect one of Westbrook/SJax/Addai will be available. What's the shark pick here? I'm worried about SJax since (1) he missed significant time and (2) he just got paid. Two red flags. However, his upside seems higher than Addai. Thoughts?

Then at 2.9/3.4 I'm leaning strongly toward either RB/WR [if Grant/MJD remains on the board] or WR/WR if a RB run has left strong WRs available.

All Tds worth the same. A little bit of points for yards. I took MBIII. LT, ADP, and Brady were all gone. I had the pick of the rest and I am strong in believing in this guy especially after going and seeing Dallas in training camp. The only other guy I was considering was Westbrook and it literally came down to the wire for me but I think MBIII is going to be a monster this year especially in scoring TDs.

What size league are you in? Who were you able to take in the 2nd-6th rounds?

I'm in a 14 team league BigJim. As I stated my league is mostly based on TD scoring with a few points thrown in for yardage. We have to start 1QB, 1RB,1WR, 2Flex (WR,RB,TE), 1K, and 1D. We play like a real NFL team where you can't pick up anyone off the waiver wire and have to draft all your team and back-ups in this initial draft. The only time we can do trades or pick up anyone is in Week 6.

This is how my line-up looks like:

QB- Brees, Warner

RB- MBIII, Ricky Willimas, Chris Perry, Felix Jones, Michael Bush

WR- S. Holmes, Calvin Johnson, Bryant Johnson, David Patten, Vincent Jackson, Brandon Stokeley, Mark Clayton

K- Vinatieri, Stover

D- Baltimore

I have done a lot of research for this draft slot. The way my league works is that the first 3 picks are going to look like this. LT, AP, Westy. Since it is 6 pts per passing tds I am going Brady. The real skill in this draft slot is establishing who you want on your squad and taking them a little earlier than their current ADP. Point per reception. Starters - Qb, rb, rb, wr, wr, flex (rb/wr), te, k, def.

My thoughts are as follows.

pick 1.04 (4th overall) - Brady

Pick 2.09 (21st overall) - Fitz, MJD, Reggie Bush,

Pick 3.04 (28th overall) - Bush, Torry Holt, Wes Welker

Pick 4.09 (45th overall) - Brandon Marshall, Thomas Jones, Willie Parker, Santonio Holmes

Pick 5.04 (52nd overall) - Cotchery, Gates, Selvin Young

Imagine if from the 4 spot your first 5 rounds looked like this:

1. Brady

2. MJD

3. Wes Welker

4. Brandon Marshall

5. Cotchery

I have maximized the talent that has fallen to me and I now have the ability to grab those pesty RBBC running backs that everyone is avoiding taking. I have no problem getting some running back depth in the last 11 rounds of the draft. If a good tight end falls into your lap, dont be afraid to select him at this point.

Folks will tell you I'm a huge Pats homer, but I'm probably going SJAX at 4. To me, you take Brady at 5, due to the dropoff after LT, ADP, BW, and SJAX.Taking SJAX instead of Brady, you could endup with, as an example,SJAX, Brees, TJ or Holt or Burress, Edge or FWP or Thomas Jones, Top 4 TE, Coles or Evans or Ward, etc.or if you prefer a better RB2SJAX, MJD or Bush, TJ or Holt or Burress, RoyW or CalvinJ or SantonioH, Top 4 TE, Coles or Evans or Ward, Cutler or ELI or value, etc.I like the Brees option, as it fields1. SJAX2. Brees3. Burress4. TJones5. Winslow6. Evans7. etcI would worry about "hoping" that you can scrounge a good RB2....you might be able to go Brady, MJD, Bush, and I would call that a better approach if you're Brady-centric with the first pick...

I am not sweating the rbs in this draft. Once the top 25 are taken people tend to start scrambling for the wideouts. I have the draft today so we will see how it all turns out. Brees will not be available for me in the 2nd round because top tier qbs go fast in my draft. To tell you the truth I am looking more like going: We will see if my plan works like I think it will.

Tonight I picked 4th in a 10 team redraft, no-PPR, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D, pretty much standard scoring.

I have to say I was pretty surprised at some of the picks as this is no guppy league. Anyway, my draft went like this:

1.4 - ADP (LT, Westy, then Brady)

2.7 - Braylon Edwards (almost went MJD and would likely have gone Larry Johnson had he not gone one pick sooner)

3.4 - Andre Johnson

4.7 - Brandon Jacobs (very much surprised me he was there)

5.4 - Michael Turner

6.4 - Winslow

7.4 - Brandon Marshall (surprised again)

8.7 - Dwayne Bowe

9.4 - Chester Taylor (better RBs were available but I wanted ADP insurance)

10.7 - Jonathan Stewart

11-15, filled in w/QBs, K & Defense

I waited until the 11th to nap my QB (Schaub, then followed that w/Bulger in the 12th). So my starting lineup is:

QB - Schaub/Bulger

RB1 - ADP

RB2 -Jacobs

WR1 - Braylon

WR2 - AJohnson

FLEX - prob Brandon Marshall when he's back and Turner until, although Bowe may be a fit

TE - Winslow

All in all I'm pretty happy with the draft. A bit of a gamble at QB I guess, but in mapping out the projections I think I'll be alright there on a week to week basis. I never thought I'd get ADP with the 4th...

Looks good to me.I'm having a hard time ranking Westbrook, SJax, Addai.

12 teams. I made a few mistakes. I took Shockey too early, and I didnt get any depth at rb, but my team will look a little better when Marshall comes back. I am not sure how much I like the Ronnie and Ricky combo either.

I drafted fromt he 4 spot in an 8 team league on Monday. Standard scoring, all TD's worth 6 points, no PPR. Here is how it went.

1) Steven Jackson

2) Tony Romo

3) Marshawn Lynch

4) TJ Houshmanzadeh

5) Steve Smith

6) Willis McGahee

7) Brandon Marshall

8) Jerricho Cotchery

9) Joanathan Stewart

10) Marvin Harrison

11) David Gerrard

12) Kevin Smith

13) Owen Daniels

14) San Diego

15) Shayne Graham

16) Reggie Brown

To add to this for reference: drafted from the 4 spot in a 12-team PPR league (start 1 RB, 2 WR, 2 flex) before SJax signed and Johnson got hurt. Lost some ground due to 3RR.

So in a 10 teamer league. 4 pts for passing TDs, 6 pts for rushing/receiving TDs. I'm in the 4 hole and I'm anticipating LT, AP, and Westbrook to be gone. So what's the play here...Sjax? MB3? Addai?

10-team league you should do better than this in the first three rounds. For 12-team I ended up with Steven Jackson, Reggie Wayne, and Plaxico Burress.

Okay, for those still yet to draft in the 4th slot's benefit, here's my 12-team redraft result from last week:

1.4 Brian Westbrook

2.9 Andre Johnson

3.4 Jamal Lewis

4.9 Ben Roethlisberger

5.4 LenDale White

6.9 Tony Gonzalez

7.4 Donald Driver

8.9 Ronald Curry

9.4 Bobby Engram (stashing him for later)

10.4 Patriots Defense

11.9 Derrick Mason

12.4 Vince Young

13.9 Dominic Rhodes

14.4 Mason Crosby

15.9 Pierre Thomas

16.4 Roydell Williams

17.9 Amani Toomer

18.4 for laughs, Shaun Alexander

Makings of a very good team, especially if Andre Johnson stays healthy.

Playing in a league that you can start 2 rb 2 wr, or 3 rb 1 wr, or 1 rb 3 wr...went the Brady route, then drafted for value, but found myself just stockpiling RB's at the end of the draft in hope that one breaks through. If I had to do it again, I would not have taken Brady.

1.4 Brady

2.9 Fitz

3.4 MJD

4.9 Welker

5.4 Roddy White

6.9 Tony Gonz

7.4 SD D (defense points are all out of whack in this league)

8.9 Hasselbeck

9.4 Ray Rice

10.4 Chester Taylor

11.9 Bobby Engram

12.4 Kevin Curtis

13.9 Derrick Mason

14.4 Rudi Johnson

15.9 Leon Washington

16.4 Kevin Jones

17.9 Phil Dawson

18.4 Kolby Smith

As it stand with my lineup options, I will start week 1:

Brady

MJD

Fitz

Welker

White (possible Ray Rice instead)

Gonz

SD D

Dawson

Not bad, not great.

Looks like GMs at the 4th slot either took the "Tom Brady @ 1" approach, or the RB-WR option (especially for 12-team leagues).

Gives a lot of credence that the "Stud RB theory" is dying, or just on life support.

12 team .5 ppr (1 qb, 2 rb 3 wr 1 flex) 6pt TD all players....

Struggled with the decision however I had to pull the trigger after LT, ADP and Westy flew off the board.

1). Brady

2). Bush

3). FWP

4). Roy Williams

5). Bowe

6). Edge

7). Cotchery

8). Perry

9). Ricky

(I wont bore you with the rest).

I am a bit uncertain about my backs...however I think that the stability of brady with the depth at back should pay dividends. I had a little buyers remorse for not taking MBIII, Adai or Jackson as I had originally decided to take MBIII at this spot. Only time will tell but I think this is going to be a another good season.
