Luck played very much like Peyton Manning did in college. Plenty of questions about Manning's pure arm strength and ability to produce in the big game.

I understand the hype. But if in Indy with the top pick and can get a haul for it, I'd e fine sliding down and "settling" for Barkley.

 
Another pedestrian outing; Luck missed numerous open receivers, and was outplayed by Zach Maynard. He may be losing his hold on the Heisman, and I think it wouldn't be out of the question to see him slip from #1 in the draft if Indy thinks Manning will be back.

Missed the game, but it sounds as though he did well enough in poor conditions (throwing to guys like Toilolo and Hewitt) to take home the Axe. Are you going to claim it was against inferior competition?
 
Luck is still a great prospect but I'm not sure he's so vastly superior to the rest of the QBs coming out this year. I've seen him make some poor decisions this season and throw some bad picks and have some stinker games. To his credit he's always been able to make up for his mistakes, he also doesn't have a lot to work with on that offence aside from a good O-Line. He's a great leader and that comeback win agaisnt USC showed a lot of NFL poise. He's a starter at the next level but I've seen enough holes in his game that shows that he's still got some things to work on. It might actually benefit him more to sit behind Manning for a year or two to fully round out his game. Overrated might be a bit too strong a word to use, but I do think it's premature to say that he's 100% bust proof like many claim.

Watch the game if you want to comment on his performance.The interception wasn't his fault (the receiver slipped on the joke of a field that Stanford has), but in the first quarter he badly missed at least four wide open receivers.
 
You know you've set a high standard when people complain after a game in which you complete 67% of your passes for 8.6 yards per attempt and a 154 QB rating.

Luck hasn't been as sharp the past few weeks as he was earlier in the season. He definitely left some yards on the field last night. He needs to make at least a couple of those throws. On the other hand, his numbers for the season are basically a mirror image of what he did last year. So the initial premise of this thread (that he would come back down to Earth this season) doesn't look so good.

The new trendy thing is to say that guys like Barkley, Weeden, and Griffin are better. I think it's important to look at the supporting casts though. Barkley has two future first round receivers in Woods and Lee. Griffin has Kendall Wright, who is better than any Stanford receiver by far. Weeden has Justin Blackmon, possibly the best WR in college football. That's not to say a couple of these QBs aren't legit in their own right, but I'm sure Luck would benefit from having some targets like those to throw to. His best WR has been out for several weeks and at one point last night the #4 TE on the depth chart was out there running fly routes because two of the guys ahead of him on the depth chart were out.
