Id like to have two apps open and on screen at the same time. Like pages and skype. And multiple users. Chances of those ever?

Passbook, one app for all of your passes (airline boarding passes, movie tickets, Starbucks card, coupons, etc.)

FaceTime over cellular. Finally.
Glad you said finally. I try not to let this turn into a pissing match but I know it will. I don't swear allegiance to any product and I like to keep up with the new offerings but sometimes I swear the non technical people talk about all these great new features, when they are catch up in some areas. I don't mean anyone in this thread - eitherI really don't want this to become a flame war, I just get surprised sometimes for stuff that is not already there - in both formats

Shared photostreams. Another nice feature.
Really? I think this is useless.
You must not have kids. I'm always being asked by my sisters, parents, friends, etc for the latest pics of my kids. Problem solved. Now I just have to get them to all switch to Apple. ;)
They can either spend thousands on Mac Products, or create a free Facebook acct.
Well that's just boring.

Woohoo, turn by turn navigation.

Integrated with Siri and works on the lock screen.

LOVE that they included social traffic in Maps! That plus Navigation =
Finally now my wife can get an Iphone.Only reason she stayed with our android phones was this missing feature. Is this a fall release for the new phones?
Haven't said yet, but I think it will be out sooner than that.
I think it'll coincide with new iPhone in October.

Anyone who's not used social traffic with apps like WAZE is missing out!

Adding it to maps is F'n fantastic.

BTW - without sounding all :homer:

I think if the Map application is done right it will put a hurt in the android device market. I know a few people that love(d) the navigation of google maps. I do. The live traffic overlays, street view and turn by turn navigation is an awesome free feature and well worth the phone. If the Apple version is remotely decent I think it could actually be in favor of apple.

I know I'm not the only person that did not go with Apple because of not wanting to pay for add-ons tom tom app, etc.

* I'm assuming this will be free :bag:

Is this similar to "latitude". Sorry I only have one frame of reference as a full user.Basically you can see where all your friends are etc?

I agree with you 100%. Getting maps right is crucial for those of us who want to move over from Android. If Apple Maps are as good as Google Maps, it will knock down one of the few barriers.

Very impressive. Love that the Macbook Pro will have HDMI out.

one of the very few pet peeves about my MBP is the lack of HDMI.... inexcusable.

The main issue with social sourced traffic is the updates are not very effective. Waze has a hell of a time figuring out when you are on the access roads at a stop light or stopped in traffic. The GPS accuracy of phones is just not precise enough. There are plenty of features of Waze to make it worth it though over any other system.

Have to think that the sheer numbers of iOS users will make Apple's version even more accurate.
  :yes:When you have live data from 1% of the vehicles on the road you get a rough idea of what's going on out there. When you have live data from 20-30% of the vehicles on the road, you have a VERY good idea of what's going on out there.

NFW even 1/2 of 1% of users are using their maps to go to work daily.

the thing I like about Waze is the user notifications on police/construction/light cams etc.

I'm betting Apple doesn't allow speed trap notifications or red light camera callouts. Just a hunch.

without a doubt apple won't include that

Unlike Waze, apple doesn't NEED to have the app to be running to gather data on movements. Not sure if Apple will ONLY gather data when Maps is open or not, that remains to be seen.

No real surprises - the market is reacting negatively.
This is the "about time" drop or the "Is that it" effect. Though, I will say, I am seeing a lot more "finally" type of comments in this thread from folks I never thought I would.ICON...do you think Apple will forego it's standard and actually let this stuff in the background? Speaking of these new maps features. A couple things I see coming from these releases:1. People are going to complain about battery life now, not understanding that's the price you pay for GPS features like these.2. If maps really does run in the background, Apple will be accused of "collecting information without my knowledge" etcPeople are so stupid sometimes, but it's funny as hell

Apple already allows GPS functionality to run in the background.
