Joey Gallo hit his 100th career homer today. He’s the third fastest player to 100 homers (McGuire and Kiner) and is first player to get to 100 homers before recording 100 singles (89).

Delino DeShields sent down to AAA.  It's been a brutal year for SBs other than KC, Seattle and Tim Anderson.  Mallex Smith has also been demoted while Turner and Soto are hurt.

SB attempts are down by about 13% vs 2018.

Pujols hit a HR to give him 2000 rbi today in Detroit. The guy who caught it was offered bats,jerseys,autographs and a team meet and great and turned it all down. Unfortunately he left the stadium without getting it authenticated so now it's basically worth $5.

The Reds have a +23 runs differential and yet are six games under .500. Every other team with that same or better differential is at least five games over .500.

in the last 50 years, the only players younger than Vlad Jr. to have 2 homers in a game are:

Although they may be a little older than Vlad, Senzel and Eloy have done it as well. Can’t recall if Chavis has done it but it wouldn’t surprise me.  I anticipate Riley will do it at some point this year.  Future is bright in MLB

 
What the hell is wrong with Bauer?  He's getting lit up every other game.  I wonder if this is completely due to overusage.

I doubt it's usage. It's probably something along the lines of a domino effect caused by lack of trust in his slider.

His control is shot.  He's had 4 or more walks in 4 out of 10 starts.  The entire last season he had 4 or more walks only 3 times.

Saw an interesting question on Twitter or somewhere: What is the fewest number of players it would take to cover all 30’teams?

Have to think Dotel and/or Villone to start, although there would be some overlap.

I got to like 26 teams with Jackson, Villone, Dotel and Matt Stairs, I think and didn't have any more time (and at least 1 was really the same-Florida/Miami)

Mike Morgan is the other guy in the top 5 of career teams played for.

 
Gaylord Perry was the first guy that came to mind, looks like 8 teams for him(Giants, Indians, Rangers, Padres, Yankees, Braves, Mariners and Royals)

There have got to be some lefty specialists that played on a bunch of teams :popcorn:

One of my all-time favorite portly port-siders was "The Big Sweat" Dennys Reyes, who played for eleven clubs beginning in 1997.

He was still pitching in the Mexican winter league as recently as 2017.

This link lists the teams for all the players who had 10 or more, so a good place to start. I may see what I can come up with later tonight.

 
Edwin Jackson, Matt Stairs, Ron Villone and LaTroy Hawkins have combined to play for all 30 MLB franchises.

From playing around with this for a bit, I suspect there are other 4-player combos that will work, but I doubt it can be done with 3.

 
2018 high school pitcher Carter Stewart is going to Japan.  Atlanta drafted him at 1.08 last summer but they couldn't reach agreement.  Stewart just signed a 6/$7M deal with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks that would position him to test MLB free agency at age 25.  He's a Boras client.

Looks like this could be a new way to circumvent the system, leave it to a Boras client to test it out :popcorn:   

 
JJ Cooper on Twitter ran some quick salary projections for Stewart that had him at $3.5M to the good taking this approach over the life of the contract. He'll also be a free agent at age 25 instead of entering his first or second arbitration year (assuming current CBA). The monetary difference would have been smaller if he accepted slot money last year--Cooper has him slipping to the 2nd round this year.

MiLB salaries are ridiculously low so total compensation is heavily dependent on signing bonus.

There's some risk of course. TINSTAAPP applies in Japan and cultural stuff could be tough on a kid. But it also has benefits vs. touring the Sally league in a bus.

7M over 6 years or annually? If it’s over 6 years (and it seems it is) it seems like he could have got a similar deal from Atlanta no? What’s the draft slot there?

His slot number last year with the Braves was just under $5M.  The team tried to low ball him below slot due to an injury.  

Good for the kid to get paid trying something different.  Hope it works out.
