The horn was cover...c'mon guys Harrow is a pro. If you were Manny's driver would you be honking at him?
Valid point, considering Manny got a lil pissed when the horn was actually honked. I don't understand what Manny said but it wasn't good.

Yea....Jimmy told Harrow he was going to meet Nucky, who had Manny. I guess that revenge factors in too.
I was actually wondering how Harrow knew Manny killed Jimmy's wife.
Didnt Jimmy know?
I don't know. I should have rewatched the end of last season. Fuzzy on some details.
Nucky set Jimmy up by calling him and telling him he had Manny and would hand him over....for Jimmy to revenge.

So with manny dead, nucky has to be a little freaked out, right? He was under his protection after all. So who does he blame for the murder, Gyp?

A few points:

1. I really like this show, but I'm not gonna lie...I'd be lost w/o this thread. Too many characters to keep track of

2. I thought Harrow was killing Manny b/c Manny didn't kill that guy for Nucky before midnight  But the revenge on Angela makes sense too

2. Harrow doesn't work for Nucky, if anything he's an enemy. He's just the caretaker/protector for Gillian and Jimmys kid right now. If anyone would've killed Manny for Nucky, it would've been Owen (the Irish guy) who is Nucky's right hand man/muscle.

Can't wait for the Harrow vs Owen standoff

I used to be a big Gretchen Mol fan, but for some reason she just irritates me on this show. Maybe it's the character or just the way she plays it, but I cringe now whenever she's on screen.

Plus she used to be hot, now she just looks old.

You're crazy. She's still fire-### hot.

Nah. A few weeks away from 40 years old.See Chris Rock's routine RE: 40yo boobies.
Thanks for taking time away from donging multiple Victoria's Secret models to post here.

Maybe she's been good in something, but the only thing I'd seen her in before Boardwalk Empire was Rounders, and her horribleness in that was rather salient.

You have to be "donging" multiple VS models in order to have an opinion?

Preposterous opinions, yes. He's citing a comedian's bit to support the completely insane premise that a woman who is 40+ can't be attractive. And I'm not saying that all older chicks are hot, far from it. A lot of them are awful.

I'm pretty sure she's had at least one, possibly multiple topless scenes in the show already, and things looked pretty fantastic up top. I doubt an extra year has done much damage to her cans. Her acting isn't Streeptacular, but she's extremely hot.

She's more competent than she was in Rounders.

I saw Gretchen in an off broadway play and she's  in person. Great body.

What you don't know could fill a book.

Just saw the episode. Was pissed with Jimmy gone, but actually like where this season seems to be headed. I will say, real life Al Capone would not have backed down in that flower shop like that

I'm a bit concerned with where this show is going. The new bad guy seems a little bit forced. I wish they had introduced him at some point last season so it wouldn't seem like he just came out of nowhere. I guess we'll see what happens.

:goodposting: Nuky, spending time with a woman after getting some nooky.....WTH?!?!?

One of the greatest strengths of "Boardwalk Empire" is also one of its bigger weaknesses: the show has so many fascinating characters, some of whom would work well as the center of their own series. It can be thrilling when we spend a little more time with one of them than normal, but that's also usually a prompt that they'll now take a step back so someone else can have a turn in the spotlight.

The actual central character, Nucky, is distracted this week. He gets involved a bit with Harry Daughtery's fixer, Gaston Bullock Means,(*) and has a meeting of the masterminds with Rothstein, but mostly Nucky is fixated on Billy Kent — and on the men she's with when she's not with him.

(*) Two things on Means. First, he's another real-life figure, and without going into historical detail, some of his actions around this period fall into the "truth is stranger than fiction" category. Second, what a pleasure it always is to watch Stephen Root, here disappearing into this cryptic, self-satisfied character.

And while Nucky's off in New York, consumed by jealousy and dreaming of a world where he doesn't have to take such an active hand in running his machine, the machine inevitably runs into trouble without him.

Eli gets out of prison, but he's a diminished man now: bossed around by Mickey, mocked by the Tabor Heights sheriff, replaced as the man of the house by his eldest son. Perhaps if he were at his full power, he might have foreseen Gyp Rosetti's stunt with the gas station, but he didn't, and now Nucky's people have no easy way to get Rothstein his booze.

We get quite a bit more of Gyp, too. I'm still not sold on the Sicilian accent Bobby Cannavale is doing, which seems to drift in and out from moment to moment. But Gyp's introduction at the start of the season premiere has established a base level of tension for every scene he's in. We know how sensitive Gyp is about how little he knows, and we never know if being reminded of it will lead to another explosion of violence, or to someone like the pump jockey getting out of the conversation unscathed.

Gyp makes an interesting parallel to Chalky White, who's also sensitive about his own lack of education, but slightly better at controlling his temper about it. We saw him explode in family settings last year, and we see him lose patience with his daughter's desire for an "interesting" husband like her daddy, but on the whole, Chalky is more confident in who he is and his place in the world. It's a pleasure to watch Michael Kenneth Williams get a little more room to maneuver than usual, and the "You think you and me having some kind of discussion?" scene played very much like a couple of Tony and Meadow arguments on "The Sopranos." I would eagerly watch a Chalky White spin-off, but for now have to content myself with his occasional showcase episode like this one.

And, of course, there's Margaret trying to address what she witnessed in the hospital last week, while also doing her best to play the role of Nucky's wife even though their marriage seems to be in name only these days. So we have a lot of characters so far off in their own stories, all loosely connected by Nucky, and Nucky doing his best to stay out of sight. Makes for a lot of interesting individual pieces, but we'll have to see if they come together for a satisfying whole.

This guy has done a million roles, but the first thing I thought of when I saw him tonight was Seinfeld. He played the bank manager who had to make a determination on whether the "Hey" Kramer received constituted a "Hello".

This was all I could think of: My link

The new bad guy seems a little bit forced.
"Heyya...every-ah-body gottah gun-ah! Mamma Mia!" Might as well give him a big mustache and an organ grinder monkey.
He's also kind of dumb, if you haven't noticed.
I just tell myself there were probably knobs like this back in the day. Doesn't that seem plausible? I mean, he is a criminal, they all aren't smart.

This show is hurting. Game of Thrones has about five to ten storylines I really care about. This show has none. What, I'm supposed to root for Nucky's liquor to make it to New York?

This episode was a little slow but I'm still enjoying it. Kind of surprised by the lack of conversation in here. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I still find the show interesting.

Top five to die this season?

[*]Sicilian Guy

[*]Nucky's new girl

[*]Torrio

[*]Mickey

[*]Owen??

I can't wait for the smug Sicilian to get bludgeoned to death. I hope its soon.
It does seem inevitable, doesn't it? I cringed at the "I got a gun...he got a gun...he got a gun...he got a gun!" bit. It's an interesting scenario that he tries to choke off Nucky's route to NYC via the gas station, but he's like a villain out of **** Tracy or something.

I agree but I kinda like him. Maybe I just like Bobby Cannavale. If given the choice of seeing him get killed off or Margaret Schroeder-Thompson, I'd choose the latter 100 times out of 100. I couldn't care less about her, her stupid kids, her pre-natal care at the hospital, whether or not she wants to bang the Irish dude, etc..etc.. Every time she comes on screen, I start to zone out.
