* Chalky follows up on Nucky's suggestion about pushing for a service workers strike, and does so with the most unexpected of accomplices: Dunn Purnsley. Their secret partnership was a reminder of both Chalky's brains and sway. He could have just had his people roughly escort Dunn outside the city limits once his jail stint ended, but instead he recognized that the man's gift for agitation could have value to him, set him up with the kitchen job and set him to stirring up trouble when the time was right. The strike's also going to play into Nucky's plans somehow - possibly with him offering to end it in exchange for getting most of his political empire back - and I look forward to seeing Nucky and Chalky working in concert again.
This here was my favorite part of the episode last night. More Chalky please.

I really do not get why Jimmy is messing up his connection with the Butcher.
I think it's simply because he's breaking his balls about the money he owes him. And Jimmy, not knowing how to handle it accordingly, is trying to show his power with the wrong guy. As mentioned above, Meyer suggested to just pay him and he'll go away, and Mickey suggested to include him but Jimmy's stubbornness and inexperience will cost him.
Jimmy's handled that situation poorly. He owes the money. Period. Bad business.

It just reflects his inexperience. A few episodes ago, one of the older guys told him it was more difficult to give orders than follow orders. Jimmy still hasn't made the transition.

Question: If the butcher was there when they were hijacking Meyer/Lucky, he SHOULD be in on the new deal and be aware already, correct? I mean, they were there basically to replace the booze that Jimmy lost in the fire, so that should have taken care of the $5000. Why cut him out now only to include Waxy Gordon?

How hard is it to fatally shoot someone, even if it has to be in broad daylight. He HAD to whack him in his place of business? Dumb.

This whole, "I'm a bad###, so the rules don't apply to me," is clearly going to burn Jimmy.

Was the Irish leader a real person or a compilation like Nucky for the show? Did the Irish rebellion leader get killed like that in reality?
I cannot find any historical reference to a "John McGarrigle". His character was most likely created for the show."Self-important-stick-in-the-mud John McGarrigle" also yielded no results.

This kind of bugs me. I perceived Jimmy to be too smart to handle it this way.

After I watched the episode, I looked up Manny Horvitz to try to find out if he was a real person and couldn't find anything.

At some point in mob history, they figure out its better to send 2 guys than 1 (Godfather)....but that doesn't work all the time either.

Success/power do funny things to people. He never liked being called boy(chick), now he feels he doesn't need the guy, so f him.

Jimmy has failed twice to wack someone. If the other "wanna bes" who are following him are smart, they would bail out now!

Exactly. I guess the power's going to his head.

Van alden is such a creep. I wish they didnt waste so much time on him. Who does a b.and e murder in a full 3 piece suit and derby hat? I thought for sure he was getting caught and killed he was so damn deliberate and loud.

That's one tough Jew!
You know who else is? Hall of famer Rod Carew. (He Converted).

Edit - i learn more S posting here and fact checking.

Carew has never formally converted to Judaism. However, he married a Jewish woman, Marilynn Levy,[5] and his three daughters were raised in the Jewish tradition. One source propagating the misconception that Carew converted to Judaism is the 1994 song, The Chanukah Song, written and performed by entertainer Adam Sandler, in which he lists famous Jews of the 20th century. He names Carew with these words: "...O.J. Simpson... not a Jew! But guess who is: Hall of Famer Rod Carew—he converted". Sandler has reiterated this mistake in later incarnations of the song.

Adding to the confusion is an article written in Esquire magazine in 1976. Sportswriter Harry Stein released his "All Time All-Star Argument Starter" article which consisted of five different baseball teams, each based on ethnicity. Carew was erroneously named the second baseman on Stein's All-Jewish team.

I was kinda sleepy through the episode but I'm 99.999% sure that was Horvitz.

In the next episode Jimmy is either:

A. Going to be killed.

B. Kill the Butcher.

C. Lose his mind.

D. All the Above.

Yeah he lost me there. That was Horvitz that popped Jimmy's wife.
:lmao: at the thought of Van Aldeen doing that

I know it was Horvitz. I'm saying like "who the hell does something like that" . . . you break into a house in your suit? And he didn't seem like he was being too careful.Sorry, I didn't hit enter when I typed the original post this morning on my iphone. The Van Alden and breaking and entering thoughts were unrelated.

Don't they all pretty much where suits and hats all the time? Should he have put on a striped shirt, mask, and stocking cap?

I guess you're right. I would have been a sweaty ### guy wearing a suit everyday back then in AC with no AC.

That's a real loss. She was one of the only truly moral characters in the show.
The only truly bi-sexual character as well. It's a damn shame Horvitz didn't break into her home about 15 minutes earlier :kicksrock:

He just opened the door and walked in, right? Not like he had to go mission impossible and sneak in through the ceiling.

Would have anyone besides his buddy in the mask cared if Horvitz would have killed Jimmy? He is doing a piss poor job of being CEO of Atlantic City.

 Wasn't she going to ditch her husband to hook up with some swinger couple?
:lol:I'd say the only true moral characters in the show now is Van Alden's sitter and she's probably out sniffing glue on her one day off a month.
:lmao:Even young Master Teddy is pulling dickmoves "I can't fell my legs, Ma!.....SUCKA MC!"

Had to like the priest hiding his glass of hooch behind the plant before Margaret walked in to buy off god. It's a town full of broken people.
