***OFFICIAL Craig Biggio 3000 HIT CLUB Thread*** (1 Viewer)

2996. He might get it this upcoming series.
No he won't...http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070625/ap_on_...LufCF5o8us_z7QF

The Astros have a three-game series at Milwaukee before returning for an 11-game homestand in Houston, where Biggio has spent his entire 20-season career. The team has made it clear that Biggio's 3,000th hit won't come on the road.
Haven't seen anything of the sort from the beat writers thus far. Biggio is sitting tonight, but thats not all that unusual. While I'd like him to hit 3000 at home, this series is fairly critical for the Stros, if they dont sweep you can write off their season.

From Rotoworld...

Craig Biggio is out of the lineup for Monday's game and will also sit Wednesday.

As suspected, the Astros are trying to line it up so that Biggio will reach 3,000 hits at home. He's been a liability in road games for three years now, so it's only appropriate. Chris Burke is playing second base tonight.

I got a call early this afternoon with an offer of free Astros tickets. My son and I had a scheduled baseball practice for this evening, so I declined the offer. About 3 pm a line of thunderstorms came through Katy, drenching our practice field, so practice was a tenuous prospect at best. I called the person back who had the Astros tickets and luckily he said they were still available. So, on a last minute fluke deal, we get to go to the game. By now, you know how that turned out.

Tonight had to be one of the coolest baseball experiences of my life, and I got to share that with my son. Funny how things turn out.

:nerd: Congrats on 3,000 Craig! Now make Seton Hall even prouder and walk away from the game on a high note!

I live in Houston and have all 38yrs of my life.........and outside of Nolan Ryan and maybe Jeff Bagwell has there been a Houston Astro more deserving of such a great honor. Bidge plays the game with respect and play hard like he was still a rookie fighting for a job. His career #s are sick when you consider his size and his age. The leadoff HRs, the 2Bs, the SBs, the overall hustle. Everything exemplifies class! It's just a shame that no one saw this coming..........he flew under the radar for years. If he were anywhere near the NorthEast, the entire nation would have been watching him for years past.

I, too, was at the game last night with my 2 sons (and have tickets for tonight's game too, but why bother now?). We watch alot of Astros games together and I always, always, always point out to my kids that they will forever talk to their children about watching Biggio in his playing days. I speak to my kids about how awesome Nolan Ryan was............now my kids have Bidge to talk to their children about. I think that's special to share for the next generation of baseball fans in my family. Not only that, but I was in a special place in time with my 2 boys to watch history for one of our favorite all time players.

It's just a shame the entire nation didn't get to enjoy his career like Houstonians have gotten to.

Thanx Bidge and Congrats!
