Irrationally.  

Whoever said that they're more concerned about Trump doing something nuts than China doing something nuts is right.  I trust their leadership more than our at the moment.  (Well, not literally at this moment -- after the inauguration).

My biggest concern is that Trump starts with the phone call, China does China stuff, Trump escalates with his stupid twitter/Breitbart/shouting at a camera idiocy and says something like "Next time we're selling those F-15s to Taiwan because China's a bunch of p####ies we should be grabbing any time we want!" and then China has a decision to make.  I don't like China's decisions usually.

Or that he gets stupid and decides to just unilaterally declare our diplomatic support for the independent state of Taiwan before thinking it through or working through it with intelligence and diplomatic agencies, and China feels the need to invade to show it still owns Taiwan.  And then Taiwan requests that we honor our willingness to defend Taiwan militarily, as expressed by our last idiot in chief.

So the white working class largely elected a billionaire narcissist to represent their interests, helped along by russian hackers meddling in our election to get trump elected.  

The president elect is too smart to need intelligence briefings?  He spends time attacking folks via twitter who say bad things about him?  He's putting folks in charge of agencies who have no business being in charge of them.  He's using his office and the appointment process to get even with political enemies (twitter/romney/etc).  He's not divesting himself of his businesses while in office, but his family and himself will probably become incredibly rich based off the connections and favors received while in office.

You folks have absolutely lost your ####### minds.

Aside from the fact that he has thin skin, no understanding of the world, no interest in the plight of the working class, no respect for climate scientists or the environment, nor any other real applicable skills suitable for the presidency...aside from the fact that the russians, in combination with a conservative ingelligence leader from our own government, tipped the scales in his favor, meddling in our "free" elections to a scale not seen in modern politics...aside from the fact that his business ties will inherently lead to conficts of interest in dealing with people domestically and abroad....aside from the fact that the man is clueless in foreign affairs and most things domestic...aside from all of that...wait, there is no aside from all of that.  If even ONE of the things I mentioned above would've been present in a democratic presidential candidate, the right would be howling with indignation.  

All of the stuff about Barack Obama leading up to the election now seems petty in comparison.  Palled around with terrorists?  Closet Muslim?  Not really a christian?  Doesn't love america?  Might not be a citizen?  Not enough experience to be president?  Naive when it comes to foreign affairs, and russia?

Good lord...all of those are outright lies, but they got the entire republican party up in arms about Obama...UNIFT...TERRIBLE...We're doomed.  All lies.

But here you have the republican president elect who is a ton of MUCH worse things, verifiable, helped by a foreign power to win, lost popular vote by almost 3 million people...and folks are OK with it.

This presidency is going to be an epic catastrophe, the likes of which our country has never seen before.

The man isn't even president yet and he's already pissed the Chinese off to such a degree that they're threatening to penalize, likely, GM.  Ah yes, our negotiator in chief.  Can't wait to see how he renegotiates the "terrible" Iran deal.  

How are those plans for building the wall with Mexico coming and making them pay for it?  How's he doing with the whole "drain the swamp" concept? Oh, no one who votes for him cares? 

Conservatives have been so fed on a bull#### diet of everything that is wrong is the governments fault, that they were willing to vote in a person who literally will screw up a large number of things in the government.

Millions of people will end up having voted for a president, if he actually follows through on his promises, that will take away the healthcare that they rely on.  That's gonna be sad to read about.

These are crazy times.  The british slammed their finger in the door with Brexit.  We full on slammed our head in the door, and only time will tell if it was with enough force to decapitate, or simply to leave us with a lingering headache for some time.

President GW Bush, had several bad things happen during his presidency that have left a bad legacy.  I fear to think what legacy Trump is going to leave behind.

Calm down.  Things will be fine.  There's enough people on both sides watching that he will be out of office in a moment if he starts down the stupid path.

Also, they do sell adult diapers.  I can't recommend any but you may want to do some shopping.  These bedwetter meltdowns are pretty hilarious though.  Don't look in the mirror at your lying, manipulative, secretive, slimy, probably criminal candidate.  That had NOTHING to do with it.

I can't wait to see the looks on people's faces in my area when their Social Security checks drop, Medicare costs go up, their 30-year-old kids lose their insurance because the ACA is gone, inflation is through the roof, and there are even less jobs.  

Mostly, I'm looking forward to hearing how this is all liberals' fault despite the Rs having both houses of Congress, the Presidency, and the Supreme Court.

In the last few months I have heard this sentiment from conservatives at least dozens of times. 

I'm certainly hoping it's not going to be that bad. I try to be an optimist. But your assurance that the smart people will protect us from the worst of Trump is not convincing. They haven't stopped him so far.

ACA is the first item on Congress's list, and they're talking repeal without replacement;

Medicare privatization is the second item on Congress's list;

Treasury bills are at their highest rate in 8 years - inflation is coming;

I guess jobs might work out, but with inflation costs I'm not seeing how there will be more jobs showing up than currently.

Do you have some insight I don't into this?  Something I'm missing?

The author, Jamelle Boule, is a well known liberal opinion writer for the Washington Post and Slate. I've enjoyed some of his pieces over the years. But in this latest, he makes a direct comparison between Trump and mass murderer Dylan Roof. 

Donald Trump needs to be opposed by those of us who disapprove of him in a rational and reasonable way. But it's predictable that some people are reacting to his win by becoming a liberal version of the Tea Party nuts. I want no part of that.

Millionaires and billionaires are in charge who've never held public office.  They want to roll back regulations and provide tax cuts for the wealthy.

This is really going to be great for the working and middle classes.   :thumup:

I usually hear this from people who also believe that Bill and Hillary Clinton committed murder and were the most corrupt human beings in the history of American politics, but that Bill could not get taken out of office despite having been caught committing perjury.  I have a hard time reconciling the two views.

Maybe. 

1. I still don't think they're stupid enough to repeat without replace. We discussed this yesterday; I expect they'll announce that ACA will expire in a year or 2 and they will end up kicking the can down the road. 

2. I think interest rates will have to rise but not much- we'll have some inflation but not enough that people will notice.

If there are social security cuts, medicare cost increases, and inflation of even 2%, seniors will notice in a pretty big way.

The overreactions aren't helping in general - the Ioffe tweet, the recount madness, the Electoral College plot, the claims about Trump plotting with Putin.... all overswings which Trump gets to use when he does similarly wild things, except as president.
