The anti-Trump people were overwhelmingly defeated in the Rules Committee today. The Republican "Never Trump" movement finally died a sad quiet death. It was never much of a movement anyway.

And I say that's a good thing. As much as I detest Donald Trump, the idea that a group of elites could take away the will of the Republican voters is repellant to me. Like it or not, Republicans chose this man to be their guy.
Despite running unopposed in many of the primaries, Trump didn't even get a majority of the votes. Hardly the will of the people

He got more votes than anybody else and enough delegates to clinch the nomination based on the rules that were set up. That's all that's important.

Sure. He has scoreboard in a crowded field.  Those were the rules.  But, stop characterizing it the "will of the people."

:lmao:   LOL just reading the headline.  This guy is perfect.  Awesome.  He's bringing water to a sinking ship.  Oh, well.  First day on the job.  He'll get better, even if Trump doesn't.  I suspect Pence has enough "outside the bubble" people around him to realize that, to win, they can't appeal to only the far right.  He's still in "throw the red meat" mode.  That'll change.

Turkey coup: Try to picture Donald Trump handling this well

Updated by Matthew Yglesias on July 15, 2016

Picture Donald Trump on a series of calls with advisors and heads of government from around the region, and inside the NATO alliance, devising a constructive response to a coup attempt in Turkey.

Good luck.

I’m not someone who believes you need to understand the ins and outs of the relationship between Turkey’s ruling party and the Gulen Movement, or the history of military-civilian relations in Turkey, or the details of Turkey’s role in EU policy toward refugees from Syria, to be a good President of the United States. Trump would have a lot of catching up to do as president, but so do almost all new presidents. And to be fair, despite his brash persona Trump is clearly very knowledgeable about commercial real estate development and some important aspects of corporate finance.

But to be a good president you do need to be able to run good meetings. You need to get up to speed in a chaotic situation, talk to a bunch of people who are more knowledgeable than you but not ultimately empowered or accountable the way you are, and you need to try to steer some inherently unfavorable situations toward a non-disastrous outcome.

From everything I know about Trump — not just his temperament and his character, but his actual ideas about politics and leadership — he simply doesn’t have what it takes. [...]

Wow that's awful, wrongo.

They wouldn't even do it with tanks either, totally lame.

With all the things going on in the world imagine turning to the host of Celebrity Apprentice.

Let's be honest.  Trump could not name most of the countries in the Europe nor the Middle East given a blank map.

He really couldn't.  Despite running for President the past year.  A sane person would at least catch up to at least not be embarrassed.

:lmao: I love Trump when he does prepared remarks. - It's like he's learning of things for the first time. He has this is 'wow, oh really' look on his face. I don't think he knew 75% of this stuff about Pence before he read it out loud.

I like Pence on the fiscal side, a bit too conservative on the social side for my taste but I can live with that given we just lost a conservative judge in the high court.

Anti-trumpets, it's July. It's nice outside and there are activities to participate in, cookouts, places to swim, outdoor events, etc.

Step away from the keyboards for a while and enjoy this time of year. It'll be winter before you know it.

Yet here you are.

It's been hot as hell here. I hate hot. Now it's raining.

Just got back from a hot steamy run.  Was posting earlier while enjoying the early morning golf coverage.

Will probably enjoy a couple beers by the pool later.  Glad to know Knuckes and AI are looking out for us though.

Keyboards come in all shapes and sizes now.  Some of them are even small enough to fit in your pocket.

Every post you make is a post about squis or tim or me.  Have you ever posted about an actual topic, rather than about the person posting in it?
:lmao:   That's rich coming from you.  You're sole purpose on this forum is to start argument with whoever you believe supports Trump.  Carry on man whatever makes you feel better.

Some people got nuthin to say - and that's cool. Not everyone can be as brilliant as we are!

This would be a great post...if any of it were true.

Your recent post history shows mostly you talking about posters rather than the topic (usually Tim or squis).

Mine shows me talking about Turkey, the British Open...and so on.

So in Trump's introduction of Pence he said one of pence's qualifications was his record of job creation in Indiana. He said 187,000 jobs were recently created in Indiana, while the numbers he's seen from other states are always negative and show 40, 50, and even 60% decreases in employment.

Anyone have any clue wtf he's talking about?  Cuz I know he doesn't.
