A lot of them think she's going to take away their guns.  Also going to appoint liberal justices.  That's what they're telling themselves to sleep at night voting for the despot that is Donald J. Trump.
Yes, and he's trying to push that narrative. Even though Hillary has never once mentioned banning guns. This is Trump doing what he does best. Fear mongering.

If the roles were reversed, would responsible Democrats go against their own nominee to a greater extent than responsible Republicans are currently doing? Fun thought experiment.

If the OC of the Giants got into politics and ran as the VP, that could be a catchy Wackadoo/McAdoo ticket (up there witn Tippecanoe and Tyler, too).

Manafort's Russia ties have me thinking again that Ryan will unendorse. I don't see how he can keep supporting Trump when it's so blatantly obvious that he's a Putin stooge. That's the kind of thing that could hurt his reputation for years, and it seems like a given that he wants to run for president in the future.
The fact that Ryan is still hanging in there now after everything tells me that he's made his decision. Not alienating the Trumpkins > appealing to moderates and independents in his political calculations. He doesn't want to get primaried by some Tea Bagger loon down the road. Time will tell if he's right nor not. My guess is that he's made the right choice as far as his own personal career in the House is concerned, but a big mistake in terms of the Party as a whole nationally and also in terms of any Presidential aspirations he might have moving forward, but we'll see. I think that there is definitely going to be somewhat of a "scarlet T" effect for these guys moving forward.

I can only if it were photos of Chelsea Clinton on vacation with Putin's girlfriend.  People would be foaming at the mouth over it.
I could the media being effusive in their praise, saying how erudite and cultured she must be and how much of a step forward it is for peace between nations and those that are troubled are just a bunch of xenophobic neo-mccarthyites who want to re-ignite the cold war.

I don't think there's anything Trump could do at this point that would lead Ryan to un-endorse him other than maybe walking up to Hillary on the street and shooting her point blank in the face.

And Ryan may even find a way to explain that away.

Guy is completely gutless. As a Wisconsin resident he sickens me.

I was talking about "people," not the lamestream media.

No major U.S. company has filed for Chapter 11 more than Trump's casino empire in the last 30 years.
- Part of the story that will be written is how Don "Sell Me This Pen" Trump convinced the GOP leadership and establishment that they were getting some kind of brilliant entrepreneur. He sold them a bill of goods before he was set loose on the American public.

Guys like Preibus are compromised. They're the one who allowed themselves to be hoodwinked. Now they have to face the American people and say they :censored: 'd up and fall on their sword. Not gonna happen I'm sure.

I honestly can't fault someone for wanting to restructure their debt legally. I'm much more concerned with Diddlin Don's contributions to NAMBLA.
You can't separate the two. He's apparently running his companies into the ground by diverting profits (pre-tax!) to NAMBLA.

All this bankruptcy would be fine if it was just him re-structuring debt by leaving investors holding the bag for his excess. That's the American way.

But the Founding Fathers never would have intended for our bankruptcy laws to essentially allow state sponsored diddling.

Sick!

He's setting himself up nicely to be the next Republican nominee who loses the general.

Is anyone really surprised Trump donated to NAMBLA? Trump likes them young, even when that person is his daughter.

I can't believe anyone who legitimately aspires to be the President at some point in the future could align himself with Trump. It makes me wonder who Ryan's advisers are.

Another interesting question moving forward revolves around the ability of the GOP to push the open bigots back under the rocks where they belong. After their hero gets crushed in November, the Trumpkins are still going to be around, and they'll be even more angry and scared than they are now. I wonder if another populist / nationalist demagogue will arise to exploit this and challenge for the nomination in 2020, or whether Trump's ideas will be at least somewhat absorbed by the mainstream establishment politicians. Not a nice thing to think about.

Aye! You got me, I was wrong. I appreciate you taking the time to look into something I said and respond with substance.

Thank you. Everybody take notes, this is how you debate / dispute the claims of others. Not resulting to petty insults.
Here, Em. This is a clip from noted left-winger Ben Stein (note: sarcasm) this weekend. He addresses Trump's economic plan, corporate tax rates and supply-side economics:

Given your economic training, how do you respond to that?

Ryan has never been real enthusiastic in his support of Trump. As a leader of the party, he's doing all he can to get a Republican in the White House, but he has certainly never been one of Trump's cheerleaders. Any compliments he ever pays Trump seem like they're delivered with a gun to his head.

The Trumpkins are here to stay and the GOP seems to be powerless to get them out of their party. Now that Trump has proven that the primary contest can be won by using nationalistic hate speech then the well is open and ready for business. Who next? Ted Nugget? Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson? Zimmerman?

He did endorse him, though, which people will remember. Particularly minorities and young voters. Might not hurt too much if he plans to stay in the House. In a national election in which he's running for President, he (and the rest of the party) will have to work hard to shed themselves of that.

Yeah, which makes it so surprising to me that they've just gone along for the ride. The only way to be competitive in national elections moving forward is to cut the bigotry out decisively and for good -- which they could have done by repudiating Trump, even if it meant conceding this year, followed by telling the next batch of idiot outsiders to eff off next primary season. I really believe that they's more than make up for the lost votes from the extremists in the middle ground independents that they'd pick up by ditching the "culture wars" crap and tacking to the center.

Yeah, I'm not sure how long the memory of your average voter really is.

I could see Ryan running in 2020, being attacked on backing Trump, and most voters thinking "Well, somehow that orange guy got all the Republicans to vote for him so I can't really blame Ryan for following suit."

Don't get me wrong, it should matter. I'm just not so sure it will.

The Goldwater effect has lasted a little while though...

Political impotence. And only relative to the situation decades ago. They're certainly upset that people of different cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, and ethnic backgrounds have a growing voice in this country.
And that their own overt or subliminal feeling of superiority is becoming increasingly no longer tolerable.

In the "Trump is actually trying to get Clinton elected" conspiracy theory, what would actually be in it for Trump?
A few million people to swindle with a book titled "How the 2016 election was stolen from me", a new reality TV show, and a new line of gold-plated "T"'s that people can hang from the back of their pickup trucks. They'll call them "Trumpnuts"
