I know you are trying hard to size it down to a 5 second commercial but it does go a lot deeper than that. Even if it doesn't, what does your post mean? You are trying to use your belief system to justify your feelings for Trump supporters and it doesn't work that way. You can feel however you like based on your beliefs but expecting others to follow suit is naive and incredibly arrogant to boot.

But actually he was just using a 2nd grade level taunt at the president of the US. Ok.

This is all really dumb. You've been hanging around these boards for a decade or better, why hasn't some of the thinking from much smarter posters rubbed off on you yet?

Just out of curiosity, when do you ever post anything to me that isn't a "You're really dumb" or some spin off post? And when do I ever lash back at you?

-I've let it go without a bite back mostly out of SP respect and thinking that was a 2 way street for a long time but now I'm not so sure...it's cool but you're whole premise now is just flat out name calling and put downs. And I care not to dignify them with much response from here on out.

I hope that's enough and we can move forward to more meaningful discussion because despite what you say, I largely feel the UM experience broadened my imagination and communication skills immensely from my earlier days on the boards but you can feel different.    

 
Trump is trending up no matter what the poll. I saw today, Far Left publication say he climbed to within 3 points of Clinton in the last week and that he has cut an 8 point lead by over half. I understand Clinton could get some traction over the summer, she better or its curtains. I do think the pendulum at some point will swing back her way but if Trump starts to pull ahead or opens a small lead, it could get very ugly. 

If Left leaning publications have to submit and actually print Trump is winning, you have to believe he is an even bigger runaway train...he might not be all that quite yet but he has a full head of steam where Clinton has to keep asking why she is the front runner or nominee but still losing states to Bernie Sanders. 

Can Clinton unite with Sanders? Seems like it would get a surge in her numbers initially or is that card best kept left for the convention closer to the actual vote in the Fall?

Lots of cards the Left can play over the summer and likely will.

Well, it might have something to do that she has more delegates and has gotten 2 1/2 million more votes than Sanders -  and the states she has been losing have been primarily caucus states that involve a several hour time commitment not just showing up and casting a ballot at your polling place.

The difference between you and the other three is that they are Republicans.  There was a time and a place to fight Trump and that was during the Primary.  It's over.  Trump won.  Quit being crybabies and threatening third party suicide runs.  If they can't support the Party's candidate then be quiet or gtfo.  That is what I meant by sending them off on their way.  No other meaning or insinuation there.

Yes, yes. We can't have these renegade Jews speaking out in opposition to a leader they find dangerous. That won't do at all.  What's wrong with those silly renegade Jews?  Why might they feel it is important to oppose political leaders who capitalize on ultra-nationalist rhetoric and scapegoating of minorities? I certainly can't think of any reason. Get in line or pay the price, renegade Jews!

Not true.  There is busting stones and then there are nasty, unprovoked insults like we saw above.  And given roadkill's history of insults crossing the line into potential criminal threats, it's a little disheartening to see that he hasn't gotten the message yet.

Wait, you're belief is that because a plurality of a party decides on a candidate, no matter how much you disagree with that candidate, as a member of the party you should get in line or go away?  Party therefore supercedes all principles and beliefs.  That's pretty damn fascist of you.

Not really.   "Support the party candidate or leave the party" might be a bit extreme, and would probably weaken the party in the long run, but it's not fascism.

We’ve fact-checked Trump’s “self-fundraising” campaign claim and highlighted The Donald’s history of hosting fundraisers for others on both sides of the aisle. Now, "he's done a complete 180," fundraising like everyone else and taking money from big donors.

The general election is a different animal from the GOP primary – and Trump only has six months to form an organized coalition of support. The resources Trump needs now are, to borrow a word, "yuge."

Trump argues he’ll need the money to go toe-to-toe against Clinton’s money-making machine. She has nearly $75 million cash on hand, while Bernie Sanders has over $17 million cash on hand. But of the $50 million Trump has raised for his bid, including his donations, loans and PAC support, only about $10 million came from small donors.


First-time beneficiary, longtime benefactor


First reported by The Washington Post, Trump’s inaugural fundraiser on May 25 will be a dinner hosted by investor Thomas Barrack Jr., who was a business associate of Trump’s in the 1980s, and is the founder and executive chairman of Colony Capital.

Maybe the new, general election Trump is one that has no problem asking for money – possibly 50 times in the next six months, no less.

Trump recently named Steven Mnuchin – chairman and CEO of Dune Capital Management, a private investment firm, and a major co-financier of Warner Brothers movies such as Mad Max and American Sniper – as his national finance chairman to reach his $1 billion fundraising target. Mnuchin has given to Democrats – more than $7,000 to Hillary Clinton’s past campaigns and over $4,000 to Barack Obama’s – and previously worked for a fund founded by Democratic donor George Soros. Trump hopes Mnuchin’s fundraising prowess can land him coveted Hollywood and Wall Street support.

The Wall Street support may be more a necessity than a luxury. The financial services sector donated $90 million of total contributions throughout the last cycle, more than any other industry. They also gave three times more to Romney than Obama in 2012, and Trump may need to work hard for the same contribution; Hillary Clinton has taken in more campaign contributions from the financial services industry than all other candidates combined thus far.

Mnuchin, already operating in high gear, recently courted T. Boone Pickens (who is hosting a future Trump fundraiser), Georgette Mosbacher and former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown to appear in Las Vegas for the SkyBridge Alternatives Conference, known as SALT.


Coming together


These operations didn’t grow their war chests overnight. With little field staff, analytics, voter data or anything constituting a “grassroots” campaign effort, Trump’s early reliance on “self-funding” his campaign could turn out to be a bad deal. Trump may lean on the Republican National Committee more than ever now.

“Early in the election cycle, the talk among GOP state party officials was of a joint fundraising committee that could include all 50 states and six territories, allowing maximum donations of about $600,000 per person, according to one state party chairman,” writes Politico.

If Trump cooperates with the RNC to create a joint fundraising committee, donors could max out to Trump's campaign ($5,400) and then some — guiding even more money to related political groups. The Hillary Victory fund, for example, allows supporters to contribute one large check, which is then divvied up between Hillary Clinton’s campaign, dozens of state Democratic parties and the Democratic National Committee. A joint fundraising committee finances advertising and party infrastructure, like get-out-the-vote efforts for candidates, benefits that Trump would be eager to accept in the general election.

Conservative candidates have used joint fundraising committees in the past as well. According to The Washington Post:


In 2012, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney raised nearly $500 million through a joint fundraising agreement with the three national Republican party committees and four state parties. ... Because of all the committees involved, an individual donor could give nearly $135,000. By the end of June 2012, Romney Victory had already scooped up $140 million.


Much of Trump’s appeal hinges on the premise that he is beholden to no one, a self-made man that is impervious to lobbyists and special interests swaying his actions. Could his new fundraising plan jeopardize his appeal? Only time will tell if Republicans care who’s backing their billionaire.

3) The anti-Trump donors have a new target, but they still don't want Trump to win

Republican donors who are still against a Trump presidency have a new attack strategy. Yes, the stop-Trump movement pretty much melted down. But those GOPers, with funds to spend, have a new target: Hillary Clinton. The groups don't want to support the Trump candidacy, but they are deciding whether they'll shell out money for ads against Clinton.
The New York Times' Alex Burns explains it's less about Trump winning and more about minimizing collateral damage if he loses.
 
"The idea is not to help Trump win the presidency, but assume he has already lost it and hold down her victory margin to make it easier for Republicans running for the House and Senate and a couple of key governors' races to make it across the finish line," Burns says. "It might be possible for Republicans to win some tough races in places like Pennsylvania and New Hampshire if Clinton wins the presidential by five, six, seven points."

@Higgs - this is the post on Epstein/Trump.

- Personally I wouldn't let this dissuade you from voting for Trump, just as I don't think (like Tobias said in HillaryThread) the Fox report should dissuade anyone (by itself) from voting for Hillary, but this is interesting for comparison. For instance not nearly as many private plane trips [edit - actually it says Trump took one trip on the "jet"], no allegation of trips to the island, but they did have an association and Trump appears in Esptein's message book. [Edit - there is also a lawsuit vs Trump by one of the girls, which I'm not going to post here because it's unconfirmed, but it was just end of April 2016]. He also appears in Epstein's phone book, but in a section with John Kerry, Ehud Barak, David Rockefeller, and Alan Dershowitz.... who won his case against Virginia Roberts, so it's possible that Trump is in that same category of knowing Epstein truly socially but not knowing him in the sense that he got backstage passes.

There's stuff here for others maybe to argue contrarily. I will leave it to them.

One of the more intriguing allegations made by Roberts in an affidavit last year is that Epstein "trafficked me for sexual purposes to many other powerful men, including politicians and powerful business executives."

She says that Epstein made her tell him about the sexual encounters she had with these men. The reason, in her estimation, was "so that he could potentially blackmail them."

- That could just as easily apply to Bill Clinton (if it does, Roberts says he did not avail himself of any services at least when she was there) and really more so given Bill's plane trips and given the fact that he actually deals in political power and influence, while it's not obvious to me what Epstein could get from Trump.

I know I directed that at Em and yeah I know what Donald meant, I really just thought it was interesting he had his plans to run in 2014 obviously, and yeah I think we also know he trademarked his slogan some time before then, maybe even 2012 IIRC.
