Removing the climate change related restrictions on coal may very well lead to a short term economic burst in the coal states. People will then look at that result and conclude that Trump is doing a good job. But I don't think this is at all a worthy trade off.

The coal industry isn't dying due to regulations -- it's dying because gas (and to a lesser extent wind and solar now, too) is cheaper and plentiful. Coal jobs aren't coming back pretty much no matter what anyone does at this point.

An ironic aspect of this whole thing (one of so many!) is that for years whenever conservatives have complained about RINOS, one of the main explanations you hear is that they (RINOS) "care too much about what the mainstream media thinks, and what liberals think, they want to make a good impression with the intelligentsia, etc."
What's ironic about this is, despite his campaign rhetoric, I don't think there's ever been a public figure who's cared more what these types thought of him than Donald Trump. You can already see it in his interviews since winning the election. He almost desperately wants to be loved and respected.

Please keep thinking and posting like this. In fact, share that sentiment more often and in as many places as humanly possible.
You lack the self-awareness to realize that the Trump vote was not just a repudiation of corrupt and ineffective establishment politics, but was also a repudiation of people who endlessly demonize their fellow Americans. All the slurs against people who didn't get in line behind Hillary, the violent attacks against Trump supporters at his rallies, and the collective temper tantrums which characterize the Left's ongoing protests (and riots) all contributed to alienate fair-minded Independents and moderate Democrats who then helped flip over two hundred counties that voted for Obama twice.
Reading this article might help you reconsider your approach, but probably not.

I watched a preview of the 60 Minutes interview. Trump is going ahead with repeal and replace of Obamacare. But he promises that:
1. The replacement will take place immediately upon the repeal- there will be no window of time between the two.
2. The replacement will keep the pre-existing conditions language.
3. The replacement will keep allowing children to stay on parents healthcare until 26.
Reading this, I have no idea what Trump thinks he's "replacing". How do you pay for the pre-existing conditions without either an individual mandate or subsidies or single payer? You can't.
Im beginning to think that Trump and the Republicans are going to replace ACA with ACA except it will be called by a different name so that their supporters can celebrate that Obamacare is dead.

Children have been able to stay on policies well before Obamacare. So he's keeping preexisting conditions language.....yet you are speculating to spin it's a version of Obamacare?

It's made me question whether I have been too scornful and contemptuous of those who have supported the Tea Party and Trump, without paying attention to their concerns (not that my voice is loud enough to have an impact). I'm going to try to be more mindful of this in the future.

But that being said, I think it's very irresponsible to vote for a President with that as the main consideration. The leader of the free world should not be a "Oh yeah? We'll show you!" type of decision. It's far too important for that.

Sounds like you just want to protect Obama name although it will get trashed for a better plan.
Sit back and watch, it's only been a couple days. Speculation to spin things as its still Obamacare though isn't fooling anyone. Obama failed at making it close to affordable so bringing cost down alone would be night and day.
Sounds like you didn't / can't answer Tim's question and just want to bash.
It is perplexing what the Donald is doing here.

For the record, keeping the pre-existing conditions is not "a little bit of compromise"- it's the main ingredient of Obamacare. It's what makes it, in your words, "unaffordable".

Ha guys news flash he's not really a Republican and he has zero experience. He has one meeting with policy wonk Obama and he's mesmerized. He's going to get so much policy he won't know what to think. He is going to be in policy hell and he will hate it.
Look the Trump folks are indeed right. He deserves a 'wait & see' because they were right and the critics were wrong. But I do think he's going to have an occasionally liberal bent and I'm looking forward to the nationalists saying he's a genius for doing stuff cuck Republicans or even Obama would do and liberals who spent 12 months hating him going 'oh well I guess he has his good points.'
