Sure. He's only the best basketball coach who's ever lived. They want to fire him, there's about 30 other teams that would jump at the chance to hire him.In San Antonio? He's a dead man walking, figuratively
Tax pain? F that, I'm fully expecting the tax cut he promised. He laid out the rates, so I'm baking this as a raise into my 2017 household budget. Republican Congress & President, right?Maybe.
Keep in mind Trump claimed during the debates that his amazing expanding economy would pay for this, so no tax pain either.
So the vote is repudiating Donald Trump?Gary Coal Man said:, but was also a repudiation of people who endlessly demonize their fellow Americans.
Love free stuff. This is awesome!Tax pain? F that, I'm fully expecting the tax cut he promised. He laid out the rates, so I'm baking this as a raise into my 2017 household budget. Republican Congress & President, right?
That is his problem - he was all hot air without the governing infrastructure underlying his campaign. Most campaigns have this figured out and are ready on day one to work that agenda. He hasn't even decided on what will be in any bill not to mention the White House staff infrastructure to shepherd it through House and Senate committees. He went lean - maybe the Kids will do it - but they have 0 experience here. He's screwed - Ryan and McConnell have the bills already written and will be ready to go from day one. It's what you get when you bring in the "outsider" - see Jimmy Carter.SaintsInDome2006 said:Possibly. He's never passed so much as a traffic light bill.ffldrew said:There is going to be a bill on his desk - he will have to sign it or veto it. He has no control over Ryan and McConnell - they are going to move so fast on stuff and Trump is going to be stuck between a rock and a hard place real soon. And if it plays out the Republicans and Trump will own the destruction of Medicare in order to pass tax cuts for the rich. And that will be election suicide. He's fu#@$$#ed
that Ryan and McConnell will have their bills on his desk ready to go, and guy has no choice but to sign them. It's not like he can comprehend them anyway. You do know this was the ACA right? Of the almost 20 million newly insured over half of them were already medicare/aid eligible and just added to the already existing programs.timschochet said:So we take everyone with pre-existing conditions and put them on Medicare? Is that what Trump will propose?
Let's say Im young and healthy. Why should so bother to buy health insurance at all? I'll just wait until I get sick, and the government will put me on Medicare. What's my incentive to buy insurance before that happens?
Those people are idiots too, but they're not posting here AFAIK, so I'll deal with the idiots who are.Widbil83 said:You say this as Democrats are rioting in the streets and have #NotMyPresident trending on Twitter for 5 days.

Trump may be a blowhard, but he is a master at creating the appearance of strength. He's not just going to sign whatever Congress tells him to sign because that will make him look weak.that Ryan and McConnell will have their bills on his desk ready to go, and guy has no choice but to sign them. It's not like he can comprehend them anyway.
NoDoes this whole "the electoral college will give the Presidency to Hillary anyway" thing have legs?
I imagine that the people that would riot over that would be well armed and non-peaceful.
I feel pretty comfortable saying that would be a much worse outcome than a Trump Presidency.Does this whole "the electoral college will give the Presidency to Hillary anyway" thing have legs?
No. And as much as I hate Trump, I'd actually be one of the people freaking out if it did. It would completely undermine our democracy.Does this whole "the electoral college will give the Presidency to Hillary anyway" thing have legs?

1. Why should anyone healthy buy insurance. Tim I don't understand this. Literally everyone who has bought insurance has been healthy. They are guarding against the cost of a medical event. Insurance is a risk transfer, you can retain the risk if you choose to do so. You might as well ask why would anyone buy AFLAC supplemental insurance. Because they want more protection. Just because there is a minimum safety net does not mean there are not tiers of additional service that people will pay for. I thinking fundamental flaw you have is that falling into the safety net is a or should be a desirable goal. Most people want to stay on the trapeze. Minimum social insurance is to keep you from splatting on the floor not to be a comfy great place to be.timschochet said:Please answer my follow up question then. You remove people with pre existing conditions from the marketplace, and you get rid of the individual mandate. Why should anyone healthy buy insurance, if they know that when they get sick, the government will pay for it?
Also, how much is this addition to Medicare going to add to the budget? How will it be paid for? Taxes, or do we simply increase the debt?
If they did this there would be civil war.Does this whole "the electoral college will give the Presidency to Hillary anyway" thing have legs?

Not the team. The citySure. He's only the best basketball coach who's ever lived. They want to fire him, there's about 30 other teams that would jump at the chance to hire him.
Sure does. In my watching Trump he likes to fix broken things. And if things are working not mess with the (bathroom rules, social security etc.) I think President Trump was fine with the health care system before ACA with the exception of people that could not get coverage. That means preserving he functioning public market and expanding the functioning govt market to absorb the assigned risk pool. The General said:This sounds like expanded medicare.
It was the battle of the Obama administration - and look at his political life after that. You touch Healthcare in this country you might as well be riding lightening. It's why I admire Obama so much - he had great political capital and used it to move us off inertia on healthcare. And it cost him and the Democrats greatly - nearly wiped them out. That is a Profile in Courage. We're a little too early for "battle of his political life" stuff. We are going to find out.Dinsy Ejotuz said:How many House Republicans do you foresee voting in favor of this?
Old news. Floated around the time of Brexit. Hilarity ensued.
Uh oh, someone is starting to see the issue. Insurance is regulated at a state level.......So the states do not have to cooperate Obama offered a carrot, the feds will pay for it and they didn't go for it.Grace Under Pressure said:They already tried expanding Medicaid in the states as part of the ACA (it's a major part of the bill), and many Republican states refused to go along with the expansion, in other words they didn't expand Medicaid even though it was going to be paid for by the federal government, not the states themselves. This refusal to expand Medicaid is a huge contributing factor to why the ACA isn't working, in those states in particular.
So now, this is what we're doing? Following the ACA? Ok.
What's actually happened in the states that have already done this?Removing the lines is in essence turning the insurers against one another to provide the best product at the most competitive price instead of legislating it. Might not work but hey what we are doing isn't working so let roll them bones.
Please, he ran a bigoted campaign and I sure as hell told my 5 year old so when he brought him up. There is a right and wrong and a lot of what Trump said in the campaign was just flat out wrong. I have no problem telling my son not to support that. One thing I hope everyone who has kids has done is sit them down and explain why you either voted for Trump or why you didn't. Also, hopefully explained why people on both sides are upset and give perspective to those feelings. It's only though open dialogue and open mindedness that we'll continue to progress as a country.
I would have had those conversations with my kids even if Hillary won. One of the things I told them is we support our President even if/when we disagree.
I did I told my kids that we voted for Trump because we don't stand for demonizing certain people just because you don't agree with them and happen to think they are irredeemable deplorable non americans. I also told my kids that we could not stand behind a candidate who supports not paying gambling debts and trans-pigeon marriage. One thing I hope everyone who has kids has done is sit them down and explain why you either voted for Trump or why you didn't. There are only about 8 players in this Nationwide- removing lines won't make much difference in competition other than healthy Utah/Colorado payers will now subsidize fat fried food eating payers in Alabama and Mississippi.Uh oh, someone is starting to see the issue. Insurance is regulated at a state level.......So the states do not have to cooperate Obama offered a carrot, the feds will pay for it and they didn't go for it.
You know all that talk about removing the lines around the states, all the mockery about President Trump and how stupid he was for thinking removing lines on a map would solve this problem.
Removing the lines on the map and making a federally competitive market reduces the states rights to regulate and moves it federal level. Or should I say a mad max thunder dome state level. Right now the consumers are captive to their states admitted insurers. Maybe someone in a neighboring state can offer a better price and product.
Removing the lines is in essence turning the insurers against one another to provide the best product at the most competitive price instead of legislating it. Might not work but hey what we are doing isn't working so let roll them bones.
If we do, why wasn't the 2008-2016 Republic Senators and congressmen strung up?Do we still hang people for sedition?
I think Trump's win is the worst blow to this country's ideals in my lifetime and even I would riot if the White House was taken away from him after winning fair and square.Does this whole "the electoral college will give the Presidency to Hillary anyway" thing have legs?

I bet they were really confused. African Americans? Muslims? Mexicans? Racism and xenophobia are not merely "opinions" or things that reasonable people can simply agree to disagree on. Actually they are pigeon. That is what America is all about. When I was young the KKK won a court fight to hold a rally on the steps of the steps of the capital in Columbus. About 20 Klansmen stood there getting yelled at. I asked my dad why the Klan was allowed to have a rally and he said that is why America is great everyone has rights, even #######s.Racism and xenophobia are not merely "opinions" or things that reasonable people can simply agree to disagree on.
