I think it's incorrect to think that Ryan's motivations here are tied to his own ambitions. I don't always agree with Paul Ryan, but I believe him to be honest, a patriot, and I'm betting he regards many of Trump's ideas as dangerous to America. Certainly Ryan's conservative principles as he has expressed them over the years are quite the opposite of Trump.
Trump can teach Paul Ryan a lot.

I'm not sure what that means in this context.  Is that a pro-Trump statement with an assumption that he is the right person to reduce the national debt?  If so, what is his plan to do so?  Everything I've seen predicts everything he has said will do the exact opposite.

Can a country that is $19 Trillion in debt afford higher interest rates?  That is like getting a gazillion credit card bills.

Trump will need money to make American great again.  He has to take a close look at the books.

Yeah...pretty enlightening that his backers are willing to get on board with something as crazy as the United States repudiating its debt.  It's nothing more than a movement that wants to burn the entire planet to the ground.

Honest question for Trump supporters with any money in any financial market - when you hear him say things like he said Thursday about his plans for negotiating with US bond holders as if they were the creditors of one of his bankrupt casinos, or blowing up our trade agreements, his deficit exploding tax and spend plans, etc. - is your thought:

a) He's just talking out of his ### and doesn't mean any of this stuff and I'm not concerned for my financial well-being

b) I care more about sending a message with my vote than my financial well-being

c) I will move to cash / get short if it actually looks like this may happen
D. I won't be concerned at all as it's not a dictatorship. That would never pass thru congress. I would play the manufactured dip of the stock market however. It would be a awesome trade.

Trump so disconnected with basic citizenship he tells WV voters to "save their vote" for November and not to vote Tuesday.

Trump tells West Virginians not to vote in Tuesday’s primary

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Well, here's something that's probably going to come up at the next meeting between top Republican officials and Donald Trump, their presumptive nominee.

During a joyful, victorious rally speech in West Virginia on Thursday night, Trump told his crowd of 13,000 that they no longer had to vote in Tuesday's Republican primary — even though there are still a number of contested local races on the ballot. This came after Trump repeatedly told the crowd that he debated on whether to show up, as he no longer needed their votes in the primary. He said "just didn't have the heart" to stand them up.

"What I want you to do is save your vote — you know, you don't have to vote anymore. Save your vote for the general election, okay? Forget this one. The primary is gone," Trump said. "Save your vote for the general election in November, and we're going to show you something, and then you're going to show me something, okay?"

Just in case voters didn't get the message the first time, Trump touched on it again in the final minutes of his remarks: "In November, you're going to go out, and you're going to vote and that's going to be the greatest vote you ever cast, okay? The vote was supposed to be on Tuesday, but now I can say: Stay home but get twice as many people in November, right? Because we have to win, we have to win the general election. We cannot take Hillary Clinton anymore. We've had enough of Clinton."

:loco:

I wonder how many will actually stay home?

So...again, you support a man proposing ridiculous things that he could never really do?  The problem is that he likely doesn't even know he couldn't do them in the first place.

lol, who tweeted that one?

Do you understand that all the President has to say before a microphone is "We need to renegotiate our debt" and the world's stock markets crash?

I don't think you (and many others) realize just ow awesome the power of our President is.

Your comment reflects a belief which currently seems to be prevalent among the Republican base: that one can only prove one's principles by refusing to compromise with the other side in all circumstances. I think this attitude has been very damaging to this country in recent years.
Its a result that stems from ruinous Bush/Cheney legacy and its effect on the total us-vs.-them mentality of many on the right.

Trump's lies, er, "Four Pinocchios"

At the Fact Checker, we have often said we do not write fact checks to change the behavior of politicians. Fact checks are intended to inform voters and explain complicated issues.

Still, most politicians will drop a talking point if it gets labeled with Four Pinocchios by The Fact Checker or “Pants on Fire” by PolitiFact. No one wants to be tagged as a liar or misinformed, and we have found most politicians are interested in getting the facts straight. So the claim might be uttered once or twice, but then it gets quietly dropped or altered.

But the news media now faces the challenge of Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president. Trump makes Four-Pinocchio statements over and over again, even though fact checkers have demonstrated them to be false. He appears to care little about the facts; his staff does not even bother to respond to fact-checking inquiries.

But, astonishingly, television hosts rarely challenge Trump when he makes a claim that already has been found to be false. For instance, Trump says he was against the 2003 invasion of Iraq, but research by BuzzFeed found that he did express support for an attack. He said the White House even sent a delegation to tell him to tone down his statements —and we found that also to be false.

Yet at least a dozen television hosts in the past two months allowed Trump to make this claim and failed to challenge him. There is no excuse for this. TV hosts should have a list of Trump’s repeated misstatements so that if he repeats them, as he often does, he can be challenged on his claims.

(On Thursday, Bret Baier of Fox News finally pressed Trump on his support for the Iraq War. “I said very weakly, well, blah, blah, blah, yes, I guess,” Trump responded.)

The online version of the Fact Checker keeps a running list of Trump’s Four-Pinocchio statements. He now has 26, which accounts for nearly 70 percent of Trump’s statements that have been fact checked.

Great trade for you, but would result in a loss of U.S. status and damage us long-term.

CBS correspondent who has been traveling with Trump's campaign since the beginning.
And he even got arrested while covering protests related to a Trump rally for CBS.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/mar/18/sopan-deb-charges-dropped-against-cbs-reporter-arr/

Chicago police are dropping charges against a CBS News reporter who was arrested last week while covering protests outside a canceled Donald Trump rally.

Sopan Deb was detained March 11 as he covered clashes between police officers and protesters after Mr. Trump abruptly canceled his rally at the University of Illinois-Chicago over safety concerns.

Ryan is laying down the foundation for his own ambitions of the presidency. He may eventually cave and give a non-enthusiastic vow to vote for Trump, but it will be stated that it's only for the overall good of the party. He doesn't want a future run hindered by someone bringing up that he was a Trump guy.
Paul Ryan is telling Trump that his support won't come free.  The little stinker.

It should be a fun meeting on Thursday.

"I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan's agenda. Perhaps in the future we can work together and come to an agreement about what is best for the American people. They have been treated so badly for so long that it is about time for politicians to put them first!"

Normally the transition process starts in November after Election Day.  Being an outsider, Trump will need to get a head start and Obama probably will prank him.
Uhm, yeah, I know, I'm just saying nearly every response to every really dumb, uninformed thing he says is 'he'll be briefed once he gets in office.' Great push it back 2 months. He doesn't know sh+ diddly about the job he's applying for.

Romney began planning for transition in June. Jared Kushner just started helping Trump to put together a team.

No, you can negotiate when you have something the other guy wants.
This is so asisnine...you do realize a good 60-65% of the debt is held by US entities/institutions including SS.

What about the "Unity Pledge?"   Bush and Graham are not backing Trump.   Ryan wanting something from Trump before backing him?   BUT!!!, on the upside that nutjob Palin is backing Trump.  Does Trump really want her support?

Palin is a surrogate for Trump, she's an active spokesperson for his campaign, she has been front and center.

Seems like a huge miscalculation - Ryan won with like 90% of the vote last time, and Trump lost Wisconsin.
Ryan is another government shill who sold out his people. Wisconsin is a nice to have for trump but it hasn't gone red since 84.

Ryan will get in line
