Newsflash: Trump backtracks on claim of having raised $6 million for veterans

Now, in response to a Washington Post investigation that could only find evidence of $3.1 million in donations, the Trump operation has backed off the $6M figure:

Campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said the fundraiser actually netted about $4.5 million, or 75 percent of the total that Trump announced.

Lewandowski blamed the shortfall on Trump’s own wealthy acquaintances. He said some of them had promised big donations that Trump was counting on when he said he’d raised $6 million. But Lewandowski said these donors backed out and gave nothing.
They went from promising $1.5 million to donating nothing? Nothing at all? Really? Zero? Who are these cheapskates, then? Why doesn't Trump call them out and expose their mistreatment of veterans? And why would Trump continue to use the "$6M" figure when he knew it was a lie?

Still a good cause & taking a wild guess here but probably $3.1 million more than Hillary raised for veterans?

- Weird that he's been audited very year, huh?

- I think an audit is in order here actually, his whole Foundation should be audited.

Is there an accountant in the house?

Actually to be fair this Foundation to me looks better run than Hillary's.

- Very low expenses on administration. The Clinton Foundation had a huge number here.

- Nearly all contributions paid out.

- However it seems to have a lot of cash and assets just sitting around, over $3 million, but that pales in comparison to the Clinton Foundation.

I support vets.

- Donakd should accurately represent what he collected.

- He should accurately represent that he gave them 100% of what he took in.
If someone asked my how much I've given I would give a round about number could be more could be less. Seems like a really stupid thing to nitpick about.

Bottom line nobody cares.

How dare people nitpick about him lying...about $1.5mil he claimed to give to vets to pander to voters.

"We're getting rid of gun free zones!"

Donald Trump Is Against 'Gun-Free Zones' But Guns Aren't Allowed on Many of His Properties, Staff Says
By CHRISTOPHER GOODCANDACE SMITH  May 20, 2016, 6:06 PM ET

Donald Trump spoke in favor of gun rights at the National Rifle Association convention today, but security and staff at several of his prized hotels and golf courses told ABC News that guests are not allowed to carry guns there.

The Trump Organization, meanwhile, claims that’s not true.

“We strongly believe in the 2nd Amendment and are against gun free zones. While laws vary substantially from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, we allow security personnel and other licensed individuals the ability to carry a firearm in an effort to protect themselves, our guests, associates and the general public,” a spokesperson told ABC News by email.

There are “no restrictions on licensed individuals carrying in our hotels of golf clubs,” a Trump Organization official told ABC News.

Hotel staff and security personnel at several Trump properties told a different story, when reached by phone by ABC.

Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s posh Florida club, doesn’t allow guns, a hotel staff member told ABC News.

Trump National Doral, in Miami, Florida, doesn’t allow guns either, a security official told ABC News. The resort would “much rather not” have guns on the property, said a security official with the hotel, who noted that guns are “not to be carried on our property.”

“We’ve had guests that have brought them before,” he said, but those guns “had to remain in their safe the whole time in the room.”

A security worker at Trump National in Jupiter, Florida, said “no” when asked if guns were allowed on premises by citizens who are licensed to carry them. Asked about exceptions for people like off-duty cops, the staff member directed ABC News to a supervisor, who said the hotel had no comment at all on guns at the property.

Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida, also doesn’t allow citizens with concealed-carry licenses to bring their guns on the property, a golf-shop worker told ABC News.

A security official at Trump International Hotel Las Vegas would not comment and told ABC News the question would have to be handed over to a public relations staffer. Trump Winery, in Virginia, told ABC News that it does allow people to carry guns on the premises, as long as they're not drinking.

  at Trump acting like he gives 2 ####s about guns. Completely shilling for votes for people who get hardons for this stuff. This is like his Bible stuff laughably transparent.

I seriously doubt his little child hands are big enough to safely handle 90% of guns out there.

He's pro-Derringer.

So I had to look it up. People pledged 6 million which is the number he quoted but only actually gave 4.5 million. of which 2.7ish million has already been paid out.

How much did Hillary raise? How much did Bernie raise?

Listen to yourselves. Yeah it sucks the people who pledged didn't donate but that's not Trumps fault. He still raised MILLIONS OF DOLLARS! Which is more than any of you or the other candidates have done.

Shame on you. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

Step 1: tell a lie.
Step 2: when caught in the lie, call it "nitpicking".
Step 1: Raise Millions of dollars for Vets

Step 2: Watch idiots cry about not raising enough even though they haven't done a thing themselves.

SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

It takes real balls to attack someone who's actually doing something for people. It's that attitude that put me on Trumps team. I'm tired of people who are doing nothing cry about someone who is.

Want "free" College? Join the Military

Want to live in a nice neighborhood? Start by cleaning up your own yard.

Want your kids to go to a good school? Join the PTA and make it good.

But no that's too hard it's just easier to demand it from the people who put in the hard work.

I hope the people who are on the fence are reading this thread. What they'll see is two sides.

Team Trump: Leave us alone and let us make america great again. We want the freedom to lift ourselves up by our boot straps and go to work MAGA

Team Cry Baby: Wakes up looking to be a victim, wants to take from others, and offended when people love their country.

You are one of the worst spokesman for Trump on this board. If someone is on the fence, you alone could drive them away. You make a good case for why someone shouldn't stop using their medication without consulting their doctor first and nothing else.

These are all Trump ideas

We want the freedom to lift ourselves up by our bootstraps.

If only Obama didn't stop us.

First of all the shame was on Donald, he was a certified draft dodger. Donald lied about his condition, at least Bill Clinton said point blank he hated the military and told them honestly he wanted out.

Donald cares he made a big deal out of it.

In real life Donald had previously given $57,000 all time to vets which to a guy with $10 billion by my calculation is 0.00057% of his overall worth, so I'm guessing if you were someone who had say $100,000 in assets, not a rich person by any measure, that would be equivalent to having given 50 cents your entire life to vets.

Trump filings from late '70s showed he paid no income taxes: report

The last public tax filings from Donald Trump showed he paid no federal income taxes by taking advantage of a break often used by developers, The Washington Post reports.

A 1981 report by New Jersey gambling regulators said the real estate tycoon claimed that his total income for 1978 and 1979 was negative $3.8 million, so he didn't owe taxes, the Post said.

The New Jersey report is the last time Trump's returns were made public. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has so far refused to release his tax returns, saying he won't do so until the IRS completes an audit of him. He has also said there is "nothing to learn" from the filings.

The IRS has said that there is nothing that prevents someone from releasing their own tax information when they are being audited.

Politicians on both sides of the aisle have called for Trump to release his returns. 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has said it's "disqualifying" for the businessman not to release his returns and that there must be a "bombshell" in them.

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has repeatedly attacked Trump for refusing to release his tax returns. She has made more than 30 years of her returns public.

The Clinton campaign recently released a web video that suggested Trump's returns could be hiding the fact that he's not as rich as he says he is, he's not paying his "fair share" of taxes or he doesn't donate much to charity.

- I'm also going to guess he has some loans or partnerships with people like George Soros (he's a businessman folks) or various Russki and mafiosa types.

Would any Trump supporters care if he cheated on his taxes? They would probably love him more.

I really think Hillary should be using the clip of him and Guiliani in drag.  That seems like the sort of thing Trump supporters would care about.

That's proabably pretty true.

I would think that he is constantly threatening lawsuits against people that make fun of him would also be unappealing to the "pull myself up by my bootstraps" crowd.

Hard to believe Donald would cheat on his taxes.
Must be one hellva great 'cheater' at paying taxes since he hasn't been convicted or even charged for tax evasion. Want to blame someone for the fact that he pays little or no taxes? Blame the people you elect.

Then blame yourself for putting them in office. Blame yourself some more for keeping them in office.

Hard to believe Donald would cheat on his taxes.
He didn't cheat. He took advantage of the laws that were there. He would have been foolish not to.

And those laws are designed to encourage real estate development. Which is not a bad thing. I'll attack Trump for lots of stuff, but not for acting like any smart developer would.

So If he's paying little or no taxes how is the government holding him back again?

I see you got it in full reverse now after that last miserable failure. Give us a link to him being held back. I know the rest of us are being held back by the career do nothing politicians.

 I'll take it back he's not a tax cheat, I was just teasing your orange hero. Glad to see he didn't have to pay taxes at least for a few years wouldn't want to see him being held back by the feds.

Hopefully he releases them so we get a look at all his stuff.
