At a rally in Nevada today, Trump not only took credit for Pence's debate win, but also claimed everyone else is giving him credit for Pence's win.  Also called it the most lopsided win in VP debate history.

1) Trump was upset about being upstaged by Pence, and as recently as last night was second-guessing putting Pence on the ticket.

2) Not even the most loyal Trump surrogates on the cable news channels are giving Trump credit for Pence's win.  They're begging Trump to be coached by Pence and the team that prepped Pence for Sunday's town hall.

3) Can't say I've seen every VP debate, but Bentsen/Quayle made Tyson/Spinks look like Leonard/Duran I.  Don't recall Biden/Palin being competitive.  And a three-person debate is a different dynamic than a head-to-head battle, but no one making a sweeping declaration like Trump did ever saw James Stockdale try to debate.

This should be common sense in this case, but not believing in the Holocaust is not indicative of being pro-Trump, it's indicative of being a moron who just happens to support Trump.
While most Trump supporters aren't Holocaust deniers, I'm betting that most Holocaust deniers are Trump supporters.

He doesn't actually care about putting a conservative on the Court, or a liberal for that matter. IMO he's at least 50% likely to appoint a non-lawyer who supports his weird notions of authoritarian executive power.
The thought of Peter Thiel on the Supreme Court is downright frightening, even in the context of the Trump campaign.

Narcissism.  He gots it.

Dude really lives in his own made up world inside his head.

Miniscule (read: negligible) proportion regardless. You can nit pick any negative trait you want to make a case for out of either support base and find a handful.

I think it's very significant that racists are drawn to Donald Trump's campaign. Trump is not campaigning primarily as the sort of traditional conservative that Pence represented last night. Trump offers instead a blend of nationalism, xenophobia, nativism, and isolationism, all of which are foreign to modern day conservatives, but attractive to white supremacist types.

Not sure I agree here. Maybe on the surface they campaign a certain way, but aren't many republicans known for their hardcore christian stances? Maybe not homophobic, but doesn't anti-gay sentiment often run strong with those people? How about racism/xenophobia? Certainly those thoughts run strongest in traditionally conservative states. Those people have always been there, they're just creeping out of the woodwork now that Trump has said some stupid s*** they feel they can identify out in the open with. When I feel these people start to grow in number and shape the greater society, then I'll be concerned. Until then, they're just a nuisance.

For many pages now this thread has a significant lack of anyone actually willfully admitting their plans to vote for this dolt with just about a month remaining. Compared to the 2012 Romney thread, it's a stark difference.

UNfortunately, there are plenty of folks voting for him...I know more people going for Trump than for Hillary.

Most of my co-workers are going for Trump and can't stand HIllary. Nurses in general have hated her for something stupid she said years ago though, and as a group lean conservative, so aren't terribly representative. Most of my family leans conservative, and several of them are still going Trump, though none are excited about him (they've always hated CLinton and bought into the Fox crooked Hillary tripe). MOst of my non-work friends are going Hillary though.

538 has a good article on how he's underperforming among whites even now and how that group is actually trending away from him.  Even in a Fox Poll he can't get to the magic +22 number for whites and I have to assume that would be the poll showing the largest enthusiasm gap.  If anything at this point, we're closer to his firewall completely breaking versus some magical non-educated white turnout.

That's because Hillary is crooked, to the bone

Now Hannity is having his panties in a bunch? Holy crap this whole saga would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Is he trying to be the "mouth" of a possible future government or what? Hannity as Press Secretary... oh man!

While I was reading the comments on the Atlantic's endorsement article (yes, I'm a masochist) I saw a link to a wikipedia article summarizing newspaper endorsements for this election. The current tally is hilarious:

Hillary Clinton - 23

Gary Johnson - 6

None - 6

Not Donald Trump - 2

Donald Trump - 0

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newspaper_endorsements_in_the_United_States_presidential_election,_2016

ETA: 15 of the 37 shown above endorsed Romney in 2012 so this isn't just a case of the liberal media hating on the GOP.

Good to know that at least some of the right-leaning media still has some integrity, because clearly the vast majority of those holding elected office are completely lacking in that area. From Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell on down they've sold their souls to avoid the threat of getting primaried by angry Trumpkins. It's as shameful as anything in the history of American politics.

Conservative writer Monica Crowley, one of the only pundits in America who believes that Trump won the first debate hands down, is now urging him to be more aggressive against Clinton this time around:

http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/oct/5/donald-trumps-secret-weapon-for-debate-no-2/

Among other things she wants him to point out that he always wears an American flag pin while Hillary does not; she believes this fact will have a significant impact on undecided voters.

Trump is not conservative and doesn't care about flag pins.

Whatever short term gain they get they are dooming the party long term. They have set a dangerous precedent.

Ah, Monica Crowley.  Author of arguably the best Trumpkin tweet ever.

Yeah, they don't care about any of that at all. They're only concerned with facilitating their own re-election next time around. And to be fair, I'd bet that their Democratic counterparts would behave exactly the same way if things were reversed.

Look, you can think what you want but you sound stupid when you say this.  She has a long history of philanthropic work throughout her life.  Her life didn't become about chasing the almighty buck until Bill's term ended.

The ignorance required to drop a one liner like that is staggering, and perfectly illustrates the problems we have in this country. He clearly hasn't bothered to look into Trump's business career even a little; he just knows that Hillary is the devil because Hannity and Breitbart say so. It is both frightening and sad.

This is the Reagan revolution finally imploding in upon itself.
I'd say that it is the chickens of the Southern Strategy finally coming home to roost. Although Reagan's embracing of the evangelicals is certainly also a big part of it.

The media has now completely gone to hell in this country. The mainstream media was liberal, which created the market for your Limbaughs and your Fox/Breitbart type of right-wing infotainment, which encouraged the MSM to go even more liberal, and now everyone has their own echo chambers to shout into. It's become two completely separate versions of reality. And ironically, even though both sides are now ostensibly satisfied because they are being told what they want to hear, distrust of the media has never been higher. Journalistic integrity has eroded; it's all about advertising dollars.

The result is pretty sad, when you meet someone who's been immersed in right wing media and you hear the kind of kook bs they peddle. It's like a mass collective insanity.
IMO there is still plenty of journalistic integrity out there; you just won't find it on cable "news." What is really sad is that people on both sides take that garbage as gospel and don't bother to even dig any deeper. I'm liberal, but I'm not getting my political coverage from MSNBC exclusively, or even at all, really. NPR is my go to, then the BBC, and I also regularly read The National Review and the WSJ. A huge chunk of Trump's support comes from angry old uneducated white guys who literally sit and watch Fox News all night, never bothering to question what they are seeing. It's awful.

You keep acting like you are some expert on the media and cable news yet you recently wrote you don't watch cable news at all.

Anyone else notice that Trump supporters are called "thin-skinned", "dangerous", "ignorant", "stupid", "frightening", "sad"......the list goes on & on.

what the hell?

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump does end up winning even though the polls show him trailing, a lot of people are not going to be announcing that they are voting for him with all this ridiculous and unamerican name calling going on.

I read a lot. I don't watch cable news much at all really. It's definitely amusing how you dig and dig hunting for your cheap semantic "gotcha" moment without ever addressing anything of substance at all. Of course, that's probably a wise course for you all things considered...

:lmao: ... now its unamerican to label.  oh look, you just named called.  if this is a bother, you must have been totally ignoring Trump and how he speaks of everyone.
