CNN is beyond redemption.  Two huge stories come out - Trump being an ### and Clinton talking about completely free trade, how corruption (Making the sausage) is how things are done in DC, etc. and Clinton's issues are put on page 9.  While both are pretty despicable only one has a direct effect on the future governance of our nation - and it's not grabbing #####.

And Hillary can absolutely go up. Currently she's only leading by single digits in most polls. That can change.

Lol. 

Making a sausage and corruption are not close to the same thing. Hillary has been arguing "making the sausage" for years- she did against Obama in 2008 and Sanders this time around. She told off Black Lives Matter with the exact same argument. She compares herself, favorably, to Lyndon Johnson in this way, pointing out that LBJ was more effective than JFK. She is a pragmatist, not an idealist, and she has been remarkably consistent about this in speech after speech, campaign after campaign. It's not corruption, and it's not secret or shocking.

I think this is the genesis of the spin the GOP will put on this whole embarrassment.  In four years, there can easily be some revisionist history here.  

So let me stop you right there.  Trump has loads of support, and they turn out to his rallys in huge numbers, tremndous numbers, the best numbers.  

If you are casting a protest vote for Trump vs. Hillary, you don't put on your bedazzled flag cowboy hat, load your morbidly obese significant other into the oversized truck, drive down to the rally, and assault protestors.  

You just cast your protest vote, and like some anti-HIllary Facebook memes, and hope none of your friends ask you to defend Trump.  

We need to nip this in the bud, because these untruths have a way of becoming 'fact' when they get repeated again and again without someone calling BS.

The Republican Party tried to sidetrack the Trump Train, and numerous past and present Republican elected officials have spoken out against Trump.  Despite that, numerous people who say that they don't identify as true Republicans because the Republican Party no longer represents them, voted for Trump in such large numbers in the primaries that Trump won the nomination fair and square.  The republicans' hands were tied by the electoral process.  Even despite Trump's fair win their was talk among the Republican Party of nominating another candidate at the Republican Convention, and their was considerable anti-Trump talk from Republicans after the convention.

I'm not sure how any of that equates to terrible judgment by the Republican Party or even Republicans on the whole.

I think his core group is the alt-right, which is a really nice way of saying angry white dude upset that his racist/sexist views are considered bad form.  

I always think one issue voters are misguided, but I completely see where the NRA, pro-lifers, and pro-choicers are coming from.  

For realz:  When your one issue is political incorrectness, you are a massive, massive tool.  

 
The GOPs only hope is convincing Trump that not only is his loss inevitable, but that he is going to be branded a LOSER for the rest of his life. His businesses are all going to take a huge hit because everyone will see him as a failure and loser. His wealth will take a huge hit. His celebrity will disappear because nobody will care about him as a loser. His legacy will be entirely as a loser.

Sure he has supporters and they come to his rally.  But that doesn't mean the entire Republican Party supports him, or everyone that votes for him supports him, or that half the country supports him or anything else.  There are plenty of people voting against Hillary (right or wrong) but they aren't going on TV and starting rally's to announce it.

This is very obvious, the Ray Rice vs. Greg Hardy thing proves it.  That Ray Rice tape was bad, but can you imagine if there wsas video of the 280-pound black guy knocking the tiny white girl around, and the bed full of guns??

There's no room for debate or benefit of the doubt with a tape.

Disastrous candidates are supposed to be blocked by validating institutions. Policy experts explain that their proposals do not add up. The media covers embarrassing incidents from their past and present. Party leaders warn that they will be embarrassing or incompetent or unelectable.

The problem is that Republicans have purposefully torn down the validating institutions. They have convinced voters that the media cannot be trusted; they have gotten them used to ignoring inconvenient facts about policy; and they have abolished standards of discourse by allowing all complaints about offensiveness to be lumped into a box called "political correctness" and ignored.

Republicans waged war on these institutions for a reason. Facts about policy can be inconvenient — a reality-based approach would find, for example, that tax cuts increase the deficit and carbon emissions cause climate change. Acknowledging the validity of complaints about racism could require some awkward conversations with racist and quasi-racist voters in the Republican coalition.

Of course, we're now seeing the unintended consequence of the destruction of those institutions and the boundaries they impose around candidate acceptability: In doing so, Republicans created a hole that Donald Trump could fly his 757 through.

Sausage-making isn't a euphemism for corruption. It refers to logrolling and other forms of coalition-building that, while not always courtly or dignified, are not inherently unethical.

Totally, and no has said that.

But I have been thinking about how the GOP distancews themselves from the strench down the road.  And the idea that they were just against Clinton is the obvious one.  But the voting numbers and the Trumpallo passion are pretty clear.  

I think almost all Republican politicians want nothing to do with him.  But their milquetoast, wishy washy antics is going to be spun by all their upcoming opponents as support.

The tapes actually "prove" it.

Personally, I'm surprised THIS is the straw to break the camels back.  Trump degrading women? Forcing himself on them? Being a jerk and a perv at the same time? This is nothing new.

You'd have to be lying to yourself if THIS is the moment that convinces you what a bad person Trump is at heart.  That said, it seems that a lot of the Country was doing just that.

There are lots of people who have bought into the conservative media machine for the past 20 years and they won't be talked out of it now, no matter what. They've invested so much time in it that it would be too embarrassing to admit they've been played. And those "news" outlets have spent 12+ years manufacturing the Hillary Hate 24/7.

B)  If Republicans who didn't truly want Trump to win are now faced with a greater prospect of Trump losing, then what exactly are they paying?

Many of the people condemning all Republicans despite a very vocal "Never Trump" Republican movement are the same people who would lose their #### if you stereotyped another entire group or made that group out to be a monolithic bloc defined by their worst members.  It's funny to see people not recognize their own bias.

The one slightly reassuring thing is that I don't think any woman has ever actually had her ##### grabbed by Trump.

Anyone think this is anything other than a lie?  Of course not.

If Trump was a real poon hound, as he claims, we would have had loads and loads of former one night stands out there telling their story.  We have had almost NONE of that.  I remember some story about a woman who went ona  first date, that's it.   He has gone from trophy wife to trophy wife.  

He talks about getting tail the way guys that never get tail talk about getting tail.  

 
If Trump did step down, would Pence have a shot? I suspect most of these Republicans calling for him to step down think Pence has a better chance to beat Clinton.

Linda Temple The hypocrisy is pretty amazing. Clinton supporters had no problem leaving Bill in office for having an affair in the Oval Office. Trump wasn't in office at the time he made these comments. Trump hasn't raped anyone or been accused of sexual assault. Only words from Trump in what he thought was a private conversation. "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." I still support Trump, and his vision for our country. On the other side we have a woman who can't even admit her own husband groped young women and paid them for their silence. Well, despite being the worst candidate in the history of everything, and seemingly attempting to kneecap his own campaign ever since he rode the Escalator To Glory, Trump has a 'shot', so yeah, I would say Pence would have more than a shot.  

 
Hillary should hire the "#### her right in the #####" guy and have him jump in front of the camera at some point during the debate to yell "grab her right in the #####".

He won the Republican nomination, and it wasn't even close. It's not bias to say Republicans support(ed) him, it's a fact.

Well, there is a problem with just accepting these things, and evidence that shows that it is "in character" is powerful.  It's why people think that BIll Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky makes it more probable that he harassed Paula Jones or raped Juanita Broaddrick. 

With Trump and Clinton, there are stories that range in plausibility.  It shouldn't be a big deal that Trump talks about women that way because I can't imagine anyone being surprised by it.  But it is a big deal to the extent that it provides some context that makes Harth seem a bit more credible (even while, like Broaddrick, Harth still has some inconvenient facts that hurt her credibility).
