Are you arguing that NBC had a moral obligation to air the tape before Trump won the nomination? Or are you arguing that NBC deliberately hid the tape in order to build up Trump in the name of ratings?

Because I would strongly disagree with the former, and mildly disagree with the latter. I think that if the people in charge of NBC News really knew about this tape months ago, they would have aired it simply because it would have given them a massive scoop and a huge ratings boost. (Also, I don't think the tape would have done as much damage during the primaries because Trump still would have rolled to victory.)

It sounds to me like someone at NBC leaked the tape to the WaPo, either because A) they were mad that Access Hollywood scooped the news division, or B) they were afraid Access Hollywood was going to water-down Trump's quotes.
The story I read today was that NBC sat on the story for 4 days and were going to let the entertainment side of the house (Access Hollywood) run the story. I'm pretty certain that someone from the NBC News division was royally pissed off about this and sent the tape to WaPo.

So, for me, the biggest issue is wtf is going on at NBC News that they cannot recognize/take an actual news story away from the Entertainment division?

Bush's look of surprise and wonderment was certainly not manufactured.
The guy had been VP or President since 1980 and probably hadn't bought anything at a grocery store by himself since.  The first grocery scanner was used in 1974 and it wasn't until the 80's that they were in widespread use.

Like so many inventions, the UPC was not an immediate success. It was when the mass merchandisers adopted the UPC that it took off, Kmart being the first. In fact, bar code technology was almost made for companies like Walmart, which deal in thousands of goods that need to be catalogued and tracked. The bar code took off in the grocery and retail business in the 1980s, and at the same time began to transform manufacturing and to appear like a rash on anything that benefited from instant identification.

Here's how it apparently unfolded:

"Access Hollywood" began digging into its archives for videos of Donald Trump earlier this week.

The impetus was an Associated Press story, the show's host Natalie Morales said on Friday evening, where former staff members of the show "The Apprentice" described Trump's behavior toward women, calling them "lewd" and "inappropriate."

Morales said that in the course of their reporting, "Access Hollywood" staffers looked back at the many interviews they've had with Trump and discovered the footage of Trump with then-host Billy Bush chatting on a bus about women and using vulgar language.

But though "Access Hollywood" was preparing a segment on the unearthed video, the Washington Post altered the show's plans.

According to the Post, at 11a.m. on Friday, reporter David Fahrenthold received a phone call offering the video (the Post did not say who the source was). By 4p.m., the Post had its story up. NBC News, which is under the same parent company as "Access Hollywood," published its own version of the video and story mere minutes after the Post on Friday afternoon, having been tipped off that the newspaper had it as well when Fahrenthold called the network for comment.
No doubt the people at NBC News were livid.

Aren't people always saying she's devious enough to have a separate server to keep her plans to murder and extort billions secret?

Seems like she knows enough.

Sure that's helpful. But what happens is that presidents find people that are experts on those things and they sit down and inform them. It's called a briefing.

BTW, nobody who has ever held the office knew anything about that stuff going in.

So you're saying that if somebody had a brain fart on Aleppo or wasnt an expert on a particular foreign policy relationship. They could get one of these "briefings?"

I had a fun exchange with some dummy on FB earlier today.  This woman commented on a friend's page that she was voting for Trump because he will appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court.  And that if Clinton wins the Court will destroy the Bill of Rights.

Me:. Aside from the 2nd Amendment, which parts of the BofR are in danger with a more liberal SCOTUS?

Dingbat:. all of them

Me: All of them?   Ahh yes.  Just last week I heard Sotomayor and Kagan talking about how they want to bring back the quartering of troops during peacetime.

Dingbat: I didn't hear it. I don't agree with the statement. That's on them. Doesn't change all the manipulation of our Constitution that's gone on & will get worse under clinton & her disregard for America.
She sounds well-informed. The good news is that her vote counts as much as yours does.

I don't blame him for not knowing Aleppo but he didn't even know how to fake his way through the question.  I am not voting for a dummy.

Trump is playing the dirtiest, dumbest, most harmful game right now in terms of our country. I sure hope many Republicans come out lambasting him for doing this press conference right now. Who knows what he'll say at the debate tonight but what a low way to try to win an election. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. How can so many people be following this guy and his tactics? So dangerous and damaging.

The guy has been a divisive force from day one. He doesn't care about the damage to the country, only himself. A selfish #######.

Just got a text from my conservative buddy Nate (he despises Obama and even Bernie, let alone the Clintons) he sent "Fugg this, I'm not voting."

Not one Hillary sign, you guys.
It's over
Also, I never see any Hillary T-shirts or hats, but I see those red MAGA hats everywhere I go. Also, just look at the turnout at Trump's rallies compared to Hillary's campaign stops. WEAK! Did I mention that Trump got more primary votes than any candidate in history. HISTORY PEOPLE!!

It seems that with every one of these Trump screw ups we get Guiliani out front trying to rectify or explain Trump - at some point it's going to be fun to see Guliani snap and just say screw it - I'm done here.

Yes, I'm sure they'd get it just after the "what does 'bicameral' mean" and "how a bill becomes a law" briefing, much like Trump would need. But I'd rather vote for the person that didn't need a briefing on the things germane to their actual job.

Clinton has something to ward off a Trump attack in regards to Bill's Babes.  Otherwise, she wouldn't be going so hard to the hole on Trump being insane.

You mean like what the document classification system is, why keeping America's  secrets as secrets is important.  That you can't just overthrow governments around the world without a day after plan...that you shouldn't send arms to ISIS....etc

I'm sure Gary Johnson knows these things and understands how a bill becomes a law etc

I kinda feel like taking a long hot shower and tuning out from this cluster #### until Nov. 9. It's gotten so gross at this point that it's sad and pointless. We deserve better than this.
I hate all these people, including the moderators
