Seriously, this election has completely destroyed even the little bit of productivity I had before.  I devote several hours every single day to reading about Trump, writing about Trump, talking about Trump, listening to Trump, thinking about Trump, etc.  I can' t get enough of this ####.  Sad!
I was thinking about the same thing today. I have been really concerned about this election and it has really hit my productivity.

Wow, Billy Bush canned.
Anything that comes within Trump's orbit gets laid to waste.

North Carolina Republican early voting down by half. Dems and independents up slightly.

I only listened to the tape once and I recall was Bush laughing a bit. Is that why he's going down?
Pretty much.  The fact that he was laughing about Trump's description of pursuing his then-co-worker was pretty gross.  And then right after Trump talks about kissing women without consent and snatch-grabbing, they get off the bus and Bush pressures the soap star to give Trump a hug and walk arm-in-arm with him.

The truth, of course, isn't that NBC is so offended.  It's just that Bush is easily replaced by dozens of other people that don't come with the same baggage with viewers.

When I first saw him on the tape figured that was coming. He's supposed to be a bland talking head, no way he survives that in his current role.
My wife was like "Bush should have told Donald not to talk like that"  I was like   , that's not how it works honey.

Now go make me a sammich woman!

Seems unfair to me. He's was on a show called access hollywood. His job is to maintain his access to celebrities. For sure he comes off scummy when they get off the bus but what's he supposed to do when Trump said what he said in private?  Strongly rebuke him? Some times you have to play along and humor scumbags in a job like that. Canning the guy seems over the top but I guess they're going to show zero tolerance when it comes to that cash cow show.

Don't know if it's fair but his job on The Today Show is to be a talking hairdo, be bland, talk about whatever crap they talk about and have people not get pissed that they see you.

He can go do something else in media I'm sure, just not going to be sitting next to Al Roker talking about Halloween Costumes for the kids.

Unfair?

Once viewers start sending emails and tweets that they don't want to see a person on TV, and when most of those emails and tweets are from women, a show like Access Hollywood is going to find some other smiling, sort of celebrity to be on TV.

Do you think that show's viewers are mostly men, or women?

Billy wishes he could force himself onto women who are beneath him in the TV food chain, like the Donald does, but no one is beneath Billy in the food chain.

He's on a different show now. I get it, I'm just saying what was he supposed to do when Trump says those over-the-top things? Punch him in the face?

I agree with you, it must have been uncomfortable and Bush tried to change the subject from hitting on married women to someone else really quick:

At that point in the audio, Trump and Bush appear to notice Arianne Zucker, the actress who is waiting to escort them into the soap-opera set.

“Your girl’s hot as s---, in the purple,” says Bush, who’s now a co-host of NBC’s “Today” show.

Billy Bush, in a statement released by NBC Universal, said: “Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”

Personally, I watch Access Hollywood FOR the locker room talk.

It wouldn't have been heroic or anything, but I think if he'd just kind of mumbled along instead of yelling "check out your girl, the Donald scored!" as they pulled up to the set, and then maybe not asked said girl to give Trump a hug when the bus stopped immediately after hearing Trump say he sexually assaults women, he probably would have come out of this thing just fine.

In person early voting doesn't start until the 20th so the numbers may change a bit then

That's just too bad for him. His job is to be likable, he is no longer that to that audience. Collateral damage from the orange man.

It was pretty gross listening to him ask the woman which man she'd rather have.  Whole thing was pretty gross.

Sincerely,

Guy glad he's never been mic'd up and run for anything more than a board seat of a local soccer league

He's off-camera shooting the #### with the celebrity guest he's trying to cater to. Without him getting access to Hollywood there is no Access Hollywood. The job is to be that guy in that moment, to mirror who he's with. Looks awful now for sure but the guy's not thinking about how it's going to come off if the audio is leaked 11 years later.

I don't think he's a monster or anything. But as far as my sympathies to those who have been unjustly victimized by the harsh cruelty of capitalism go, a good-looking member of the Bush family who ingratiated himself with an obnoxious dooshbag as he talked about grabbing women by their genitals is pretty ####ing far down the list.

He's in that late third hour on Today- "the chick hour" with Hoda and Kathie Lee (or was) -He's supposed to play the cute little guy chick buddy part - his actions were way too creepy and the women viewers would revolt

This really could not be going any better for Dems right now.
Timing wise perhaps as well.  Don't get me wrong, there is still a LOT of time left for #### to happen before election. ESPECIALLY this year, with these candidates and the napalm orange walking explosion.

But the reality is had this happened even a month ago, perhaps there was time for mending and/or a nuclear (it's pro-nounced NEW-cue-LER) option from the Republican party. It's as if Donnie spent the last month on probation doing just enough to keep things in check and then BOOM, just after it's too late he goes back to, well, being Donnie.

The establishment Republicans must be SHOCKED.  How could a Trump nomination POSSIBLY blow up in their face?
To be fair, the establishment Republicans wanted no part of a Trump nomination, this is playing out roughly how they suspected it would.

Then again, #### them for letting this happen and not biting the bullet and stopping it when they had the chance.

Exactly. Welcome to being expendable there Billy Bush. Don't see how this isn't obvious.

Agreed, but they didn't want him until they were ok with him until they wanted him and then realized,

oops, Trump.

Bush was kind of grosser than Trump what with the hug pimping.

Also, let's not forget that they were talking about Bush's former co-worker.  I don't care if he didn't like her, you don't condone someone trash a colleague like that.

Bush doesn't appear to be well-liked by the rest of the Today staff anyway (Roker demonstrably can't stand him).

Yep.  They failed the entire nation.
