There's nothing new or particularly exciting in any of the leaks, unless you're already on the "lock her up" train in the first place. She's a calculating and competent politician? Nooooo $hit. Pretty much every single professional political operator would have similar stuff if we had access to their emails. Hillary's numbers have actually been going up -- she isn't losing support. The consensus that I've seen is that what is happening is indeed Republicans returning to Trump after flirting with Gary Johnson in the wake of the Access Hollywood tape and subsequent accusation. There's nothing to see here -- the Wikileaks stuff is largely a bunch of nonsense unless you have a specific ax to grind.
You're talking about conclusions to be drawn from the releases. I'd agree with that, I'm just talking about the influx of negative press. Hey you may be right, maybe it's Republicans just changing their minds, maybe I'm the one discounting that.

I also think the discussion is a bit amusing because I really think she is in zero danger and personally I'm still expecting 375+ EVs. TX and AZ are in play, whether Hillary gets those or not that should tell people where this thing is.

I assume. And Trump's even used the "it was just entertainment" defense for his bigotry.  And of course they both have ties to Vince McMahon. So there's a lot in common even beyond the obvious reform party pasts and affection for insane half-baked conspiracy theories.
And they both like picking fights with the families of decorated war veterans.

Jesse was a 2nd rate Superstar Billy Graham ripoff and Trump is a 2nd rate Mussolini ripoff.  This goes deep, people!

Ventura never really struck me as a complete POS human being the way that Trump does though -- more like the crazy but well meaning drunken uncle at Thanksgiving. Trump? I wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.

Yeah, I guess maybe it's the Jesse Ventura thing that worries me.  Trump is basically an old racist version of The Body.
One of the wrestling podcasts had him on a while ago.  What a nutjob!

If there's anyone who loves a conspiracy theory more than Trump it's The Body.

I worry a little bit about Michigan.  Bernie overcame something like a 20 deficit in the polls during the primary to win that state.  He supposedly had about a 1% chance of winning the state, and he did.

All of Trump's gains have come from Johnson -- who's down to an all-time low in our forecast -- and undecided.

I wouldn't worry too much. 1988 is a long time ago. Plus, below -- that's a lot of "Clinton +x"

Yeah, I guess maybe it's the Jesse Ventura thing that worries me.  Trump is basically an old racist version of The Body.
Ventura's platform contained decriminalization of marijuana, expansion of rights of same-sex domestic partners, rebalancing of school funding to take property tax money from the wealthiest neighborhoods to fill funding gaps in the poorest districts, protection of free speech expression (he went on Meet The Press and said he fought in Vietnam to protect the rights of people who chose to burn the flag in protest), and against expansion of regressive consumption taxes to pay for pet government projects.

He didn't implement all of that, but  it was pretty damn progressive for the 1990s, even in Minnesota.

His campaign was largely a cult of personality.  He HATED the press (when the took office, the first set of media badges covering the state capitol identified them not as "Press", but "Jackal").  He handled criticism about as well as Trump does.  He wasn't a complex thinker and the state was lucky his term was during an economic boom.  But he didn't run on fear or by pitting races or neighborhoods against each other.

Keep in mind also that Trump wasn't competitive in Minnesota during primary season.  Trump finished way behind Rubio and Cruz.  To win Minnesota, Trump would have to convert a lot of Sanders support, and we haven't seen much of that anywhere.

and on the flip side, there's nothing to see if you don't want to see it.

"Who is more low energy, Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton?" Trump asked the crowd, re-upping a question he said Fox News host Bill O'Reilly asked him earlier in an interview airing Thursday evening.
If energy mattered for a President then we wouldn't have a 69 and a 70 year old as nominees.  SMH.

- Good point well made.

- eta - Though I think Johnson is as much to blame as anyone, he hasn't exactly run a good campaign himself.

Yeah - in a year where we see two candidates with high unfavorables, he has been exposed an unviable. People actually took a close look. And said, "no thanks."

Jill Stein is even worse, too. IMO most people voting for either of them are voting for the party to make a point or send a message as opposed to actually voting for the person. Neither one is really a serious candidate.

I missed this, but Kimmel referenced it last night.

Sean Hannity gives platform to former Weekly World News tabloid writer who concocted Clinton/alien adoption and affair stories

Before interviewing Mike Pence and Kellyanne Conway on Monday night, the Fox News personality had an ‘EXCLUSIVE’ interview with Jeff Rovin, a man with a shocking ‘secret.’

Sean Hannity invited Jeff Rovin on his prime-time Fox News show to claim he worked as Bill and Hillary Clinton's longtime fixer. Rovin is a discredited science-fiction writer who worked for the now-defunct Weekly World News tabloid that repeatedly attacked the Clintons with headlines such as “Hillary Clinton Adopts Alien Baby” and “Hillary Names Bigfoot As Running Mate.”

I don't watch Hannity, is this representative? I can't see Cooper, Lemon, Blitzer or Tapper debasing/degrading the level of discourse to this level?

That guy reminded me of a human body in which there were little aliens inside operating levers and buttons to make the body appear human.  That guy was weird....but Hannity was lapping his nuts like he was **** Cheney.

I know that those on the right will just say 'looney left' but I really feel like the right has gone off the deep end...it will be interesting to see the path forward for the Republicans in the near future

I lived in Boston with Romney as our Governor.  He was a good, smart guy...he would have made a fine president.

Gingrich angrily denied he has anger issues.

Saw more Trump ads recently. I live in Los Angeles, so first of all, why CA? There must be few bluer states. One was pushing the Islamaphopic angle. How they were brutal towards women and gays. I'm constantly struck by the contradictions and double standards. From the commercial, you would never know Trump has business interests in the Middle East. Why take their money based on his principled stance against Islamic abuses of women and gays? So much is made of alleged Clinton Foundation corruption, and Trump made a "donation" to a Florida official to not pursue an investigation of Trump U.

Had he skipped the 2012 election and ran this time I don't think anyone would have cared that much if he won.  Very dumb strategy on his part to go up against Obama instead of Hillary.

Mitt Romney says he often wonders why he's not running in the 2016 election.

"I get asked on a regular basis, 'Boy, why aren't you running this year?' I ask myself that a lot too," Romney said Wednesday at a summit hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce, ABC News reported.

The 2012 Republican nominee was welcomed by a zealous audience who greeted him with a standing ovation, according to Politico. He joked about his loss to President Barack Obama four years ago and encouraged the audience to run for president if they have the chance.

Romney expressed disappointment that debates in this election cycle haven't address key issues and rebuked both presidential candidates — Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton — without naming them, for not discussing some real challenges facing the country such as national debt and poverty.

"I’ve watched the presidential debates, I’ve looked at the give-and-take, there’s been almost no discussion of those things I’ve described," Romney said. "I don’t think either candidate for president has said they’re going to reform entitlements one way or another."

Crowds of 25,000, supporters shouting insulting remarks about the other candidate...Trump you're thinking?  Nope, Romney:

Pennsylvanians Brave Cold for Romney
by Deroy Murdock
November 5, 2012 2:00 PM Morrisville, Pa. —

With the presidential contest tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, Mitt Romney presented his closing pitch to some 25,000 screaming supporters in this beautiful, historic suburb north of Philadelphia. “The question of this election comes down to this: Do you want four more years like the last four years, or do you want real change?” Romney asked last night. “President Obama promised change. But he couldn’t deliver it.”

“Send him home!” the crowd chanted. “Send him home! Send him home!”

In a letter to Congress, the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, said that emails had surfaced in an unrelated case, and that they “appear to be pertinent to the investigation.”

Mr. Comey said the F.B.I. was taking steps to “determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.” He said he did not know how long it would take to review the emails, or whether the new information was significant.
"I don't know how significant the emails are, but #### it, let's screw with the election.

Thursday’s filings are a clear sign that the Republican establishment has all but abandoned Mr. Trump — a painful concession that Mrs. Clinton’s electoral advantage may be insurmountable. And the biggest beneficiaries are Republicans in the Senate and the House, who have been goaded by Democrats in recent weeks to declare allegiance to the Republican nominee or renounce him.

maybe most painful for the "down-ballot" Republican candidates.. that they are being forced by Democratic opponents to either show allegiance to Trump.. thus tying themselves to his lunatic behaviors, exclamations and eventual failing... or to turn on him and further erode Republican support for their party nominee.

kind of a no-win either way

delightful

we'll see how much money pours in to obstruct these state level races. how much Republicans try to chip away at religious issues dressed up as political issues. it's coming. they've lost 2016 - 2020 at the national level. all they can do is make everything impossible and blame it on Clinton in 2020.

They are putting tons into NC for both McCrory and Burr.   They basically won the election for Tillis two years ago.   He was a terrible candidate and still is.

The Clinton campaign has to have another major diversion up their sleeve.

Bring out more 30 year old alleged harassment cases.  The unwashed masses are waking up.
