Things got pretty intense in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea and Ukrainian conflict. 2015 Russians partnering with Syria also seems to have been a turning point in US-Russian relations.
Obama was wrong on Russia not only in 2012 but also 2008. Hell the Anna Chapman spy ring was caught in 2010. Maybe coins have been lifted from eyes now...

"I have no relationship with [Putin] other than he called me a genius. He said Donald trump is a genius and he is going to be the leader of the party and he's going to be the leader of the world or something,"

"These characters that I'm running against said, 'We want you to disavow that statement.' I said what, he called me a genius, I'm going to disavow it? Are you crazy? Can you believe it? How stupid are they."

"And besides that wouldn't it be good if we actually got along with countries. Wouldn't it actually be a positive thing. I think I'd have a good relationship with Putin. I mean who knows,"

Donald Trump, 2016
"Let us beware that while they [Soviet rulers] preach the supremacy of the state, declare its omnipotence over individual man, and predict its eventual domination over all the peoples of the earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world.... I urge you to beware the temptation ..., to ignore the facts of history and the aggressive impulses of any evil empire, to simply call the arms race a giant misunderstanding and thereby remove yourself from the struggle between right and wrong, good and evil."

Ronald Reagan, 1983

It would be good for the Goppers and cons supporting Trump to acknowledge that Putin is ex-KGB.

No, it's not. The FBI hasn't *officially or *publicly stated a position, NOR has the CIA or the rest of the IC. You could hang your hat on that and say let's wait for a report post investigation, but don't go running to Corey Lewandowski for some version of a fantasy he's dreamed up.

dude, not a good way to advance an argument.
Please don't be under the impression I'm trying to argue with someone who spreads anti-Semitic conspiracies and crap like PizzaGate without ever accounting for his actions.  For some reason @SaintsInDome2006 and @TobiasFunke have been making arguments with Dodds, but they are being ignored.  He isn't worth anything more than ridicule.

Dodds:

What is the FBI's position?

It was stated in the Newsmax article.
"An anonymous source close to the neighbor of a friend of James Comey's third cousin says that the FBI's position is _______"

Code:
"Show me where the FBI director and the Director of National Intelligence agrees with the made up story that the CIA is promoting.

I was just listening to this song and a few lines in it sort of made me feel like it's an appropriate reflection of the newfound Trumpian times we find ourselves in.

Alternative reality events:

- A former Clinton campaign manager investigated by FBI for ties to Russia

- Clinton wins Electoral College vote, but loses popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, due in part to help from leaked documents by Russian hackers

- Republicans call for investigations into foreign intervention by Russia in our presidential elections but Clinton says there's no story here, calls the CIA incompetent, and declares herself the true popular vote winner because "millions" of conservatives voted illegally multiple times in the deep south.

- Clinton's business, the for-profit equivalent of the Clinton Foundation that she runs was previously said by Chelsea Clinton that "Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets."

- Due to Clintons vast for-profit dealings with companies in the US and across the world, republicans call for her to release her tax returns.  She says she will, but repeatedly refuses.  After winning the election, she still refuses to release them.

- Clinton's entanglement in her for-profit company causes concerns to republicans who cry that there's a conflict of interest.  She dispells their concerns by saying that she's handing over the reigns to Chelsea Clinton, and that "no new deals" would be made while she was president...despite the fact that she'll still own her existing stake in the business, and make money off of business activities.

- During the campaign, Hillary Clinton calls on Russia to hack into Donald Trumps email archive, and release what they find.  Republicans are up in arms about encouraging a foreign power to meddle in our elections but Hillary says it's just a joke.

- Hillary Clinton says multiple very favorable things about Russian leader Vlad, as she calls him.  Many members of the cabinet she's appointing have close ties to Russia.

- Hillary Clinton ran on a campaign of bringing jobs back to America and representing the little person, as well as draining the swamp.  After winning the election, she selects former Goldman Sachs executives for key appointments, as well as appointing other major donors to her campaign.

- Before being sworn in as President, Hillary defies decades of united states foreign policy precedent and takes a call from Tawain leaders, upsetting China and sparking fears that a trade war might heat up, or something more might happen.

Yes, in this alternative reality...the guys defending Trump here, attacking the CIA, defending Russia would all behave the same.

Wouldn't it be great if every poster had to pass a basic mental health evaluation before being approved for the forum? And then find a way to link the test to the "Report" button? So, if too many of your posts get flagged as "Crazy", your posting privileges get suspended until you pass the mental health test.

You know who I'd really like to hear from about all this? Romney.

On Trump's business record:

"But you say, 'Wait wait wait,' isn't he a huge business success? Doesn't he know what he's talking about? No he isn't. And know he doesn't. His bankruptcies have crushed small businesses and the men and women who worked for them. He inherited his business, he didn't create it. And what ever happened to Trump Airlines? How about Trump University? And then there's Trump Magazine and Trump Vodka and Trump Steaks and Trump Mortgage. A business genius he is not."

On Trump's foreign policy credentials:

"Donald Trump tells us that he is very, very smart. I'm afraid that when it comes to foreign policy he is very, very not smart."

On whether Trump has the temperament of a president:

"This is an individual who mocked a disabled reporter, who attributed a reporter's questions to her menstrual cycle, who mocked a brilliant rival who happened to be a woman due to her appearance, who bragged about his marital affairs, and who laces his public speeches with vulgarity."

On how Trump recalls spending the Vietnam War years:

"There is dark irony in his boasts of his sexual exploits during the Vietnam War while at the same time John McCain, whom he has mocked, was imprisoned and tortured."

On Trump's "hallmark" quality:

"Dishonesty is Trump's hallmark: He claimed that he had spoken clearly and boldly against going into Iraq. Wrong. He spoke in favor of invading Iraq. He said he saw thousands of Muslims in New Jersey celebrating 9/11. Wrong. He saw no such thing. He imagined it. He's not of the temperament of the kind of stable, thoughtful person we need as leader. His imagination must not be married to real power."

On his very specific plan to defeat Trump in the primary:

"Given the current delegate selection process, that means that I'd vote for Marco Rubio in Florida, for John Kasich in Ohio, and for Ted Cruz or whichever one of the other two contenders has the best chance of beating Mr. Trump in a given state."

On Trump's less appealing "personal qualities":

"Think of Donald Trump's personal qualities, the bullying, the greed, the showing off, the misogyny, the absurd third grade theatrics. We have long referred to him as 'The Donald.' He is the only person in the entire country to whom we have added an article before his name. And it wasn't because he had attributes we admired."

On what Romney thinks is the most ridiculous idea of the campaign season so far:

"What he said on '60 Minutes' about Syria and ISIS has to go down as the most ridiculous and dangerous idea of the campaign season: Let ISIS take out Assad, he said, and then we can pick up the remnants. Think about that: Let the most dangerous terror organization the world has ever known take over a country? This is recklessness in the extreme."

On what would happen if Trump released his tax returns and a tape of his off-the-record conversation with The New York Times:

"I predict that there are more bombshells in his tax returns. I predict that he doesn't give much if anything to the disabled and to our veterans. I predict that he told The New York Times that his immigration talk is just that: talk. ... If I'm right (that he won't release either), you will have all the proof you need to know that Donald Trump is, indeed, a phony."

On the value of a diploma from Trump University:

"Here's what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He's playing the members of the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat."

Interesting that Russia tried to hack the GOP's computers too with the same techniques that they used to hack the DNC: http://www.wsj.com/articles/republican-national-committee-security-foiled-russian-hackers-1481850043

I wish the anonymous sources inside the CIA who have said that the hacks were done specifically to help Trump would man up and be specific about how they know that. If they're going to make that claim, we deserve to know specifics. There is a big difference between Russia targeting the DNC to help Trump win and Russia targeting both the RNC and DNC and only succeeding against the DNC because their security was weaker.

Wtf is Obama going to do to Russia.  He has 5 weeks left, and will likely be in vacation for 2.  3 weeks of ddos attacks?  A few weeks of sanctions?  Over half the country doesn't believe this Russia bs.  Good luck getting support for anything...

Dodds:

so Russia is worse than the countries that financed 9/11 and are financing ISIS?
Maybe in the future you should only rank the top-3 players for each position. No point in ranking #4 or creating any kind of "tier" system, amirite??

And Romney was made to pay for his remarks by having Trump dangle Secretary of State over his head, and "vetting him" all the while letting his team demonize Romney and say how unfit he was for the job.  At the end, Trump demands an apology from Romney for what he said earlier in his remarks, and Romney refuses, at which point Trump says that he won't get the Secretary of State job.

Yes.  This happened.

absolutely.  In terms of capability to wage war, ISIS/Al-Queda are literally the junior varsity.
Yes and no. An unchecked Russia has the ability to project power, destabilize and influence countries way more than ISIS and Al-Queda do. And unfortunately, Russia has been unchecked for a long time now. A firm US hand would force them to back down.

But ISIS and Al-Queda have wrecked and destabilized a whole lot of countries. If we think that this wouldn't have an eventual impact on us if we just ignore it, I fear that we are very very wrong.

A lot of us are anti-Hillary and would love to see a bit of the corruption stopped.
What corruption is stopping?  Seems we are ramping it up and people are excusing it even more so.

To claim Trump is any less corrupt continues to be a laughable position.  And at this point...Hillary is gone.  So still supporting Trump by claiming Hillary is bad is just a downright foolish thing to keep saying.  Judge him based on him...not someone who is no longer relevant.

A lot of us are anti-Hillary and would love to see a bit of the corruption stopped.
What, aside from appointing Sylvester Stallone to "Arts Czar", has Trump done that makes you think corruption has slowed down or stopped since his election? Quite honestly, I think his actions and the GOP rank-and-file are running games at the same time. The GOP is happy to let Trump bear the brunt of it while they keep a lower profile.

Dude, the subhead on this article is:

Investigation calls it a less aggressive and much less persistent effort than the hacks of the Democratic National Committee

Not to mention there are other reports that the RNC was hacked but the information wasn't released.

Trump has the highest likelihood of being a corrupt president of any president in modern times.

His lack of knowledge on the world stage makes him susceptible to being played by foreign leaders more skilled and experienced than him.  His lack of desire to hear intelligence briefings and his over-reliance on his own intelligence puts him in a weaker position.  And most of all, his vast business exposure in areas where it'd be easy for foreign or domestic actors to gain favor or gain access through business donations/dealings, puts him at the most risk.  He's not a politician so he doesn't know the rules of the game in terms of what you can accept, what's an ethics violation, etc and he has no capability to listen to others tell him what he should and shouldn't do.

The man is going to be up to his neck in scandals before he knows what hits him.  And when it happens, he's going to blame everyone else and make Nixon look like a nun.
