I love Ridley and wanted to upgrade even though he is my WR3 but 1sts are hard to come by in this league so he jumped on it. He should have required a better player than Snell back though IMO.

ARob is 27, turning 28 on Aug 24th. Good time to upgrade / get younger at the same time for sure.
And yeah - this is basically ARob & a late 1st for Ridley, which is highway robbery.

I was shocked about this too. It is 1.5 years but I still expected the age gap to be bigger.

Ridley turns 27 in December. ARob turns 28 in 8 days.
so 1.5 years. It’s not a huge difference but a year & a 1/2 is not nothing either.

Very true. I was just a little surprised. I also think he is staying in ATL for a while and who knows with A-Rob. he Could be anywhere next year again.

I’ve had ARob on my dynasty team since inception of the league. He’s the most underrated FF WR in the game.
and every year I’ve hoped he’d go to another team, because he could have been so much better with competent QB play.
Now he might finally get competent QBs and move on next season. That would be very frustrating as a shareholder.

I'm not a Ridley owner, but I would have given up Ridley in this deal too. I personally think ARob is the better player, so getting the 1st would have made it pretty easy for me.

Team A is a contender, Team B still building. I do really like JT, but I like the deal more for Team B in this case. Team B is not that far off (needs wrs) and now has 3 1st's to help him get some wrs if he decides to go that route.

that’s tough. I don’t love either side of this.
Swift is a terrific player in a bad situation.
EE is probably the best player in this deal, but he’s hard to trust.
Julio could have one more magical year - ya never know.
Longevity-wise, Swift/Jeudy probably have more long-term value. I just worry about DET being a quagmire black hole where fantasy value goes to wither and die.

Real interested to hear SP take on this. This deal went down a week ago in my main dynasty, both guys are seasoned wheelers & dealers who tanked recently and loaded on picks and are now coming out the other end of the tunnel.
Team A is stacked with young RBs and has some good young WRs but no WR1. Also ailing at QB with Ben and not much else. Team B just traded for Dak and is fairly solid across the roster.
Team A gets

My analysis is it's basically Fields & Moore for Swift & Sutton, so I'm scratching my head by Team A did it. He claims to be way down on Sutton which I suspect is a large part of it. I don't think it's a bad idea to cash out on Kamara right now...he is 26 and there is uncertainty in New Orleans...the issue I have with this deal is Ridley will be 27 in December so while I worry far more about the RB age I would prefer to be targeting a younger WR like Jefferson, AJB, Lamb or Metcalf if possible...due to Ridley's age I would like to see a little something more to go along with Ridley than Gio (who has very little dynasty value) and a #2 (especially since you are also giving up a #3)...overall I'm not a huge fan with what both teams did here but it could make sense for both based on what their rosters look like...without knowing that I would not make this deal if I were either team.

I think this is fair, but Gio is worthless. I own Ridley & not sure I would target Kamara for him, but I see nothing wrong here. Depends on team needs.

Not at all…still some good years left but if I am dealing a big time stud like Kamara in Dynasty I would like to get both a potential stud and get younger…helps me now and for a longer period of time.

Can you expand on why you stated "Gio is worthless"?
There are reports he will be the 3rd down RB in TB and looks good. A solid pass catching RB for Brady to dump off as a security blanket. With Fournette and RoJo both lacking good pass catching skills, he is expected to be the PPR Value in TB backfield.
In terms of dynasty value, he's worth what? I wouldn't pay a 2nd for him, maybe a pair of 3rds? Worthless.

Its getting to the point where it may be easier to sustain long term success by trading draft picks to "old" players.

Agree on I would not pay a 2nd....but is he even worth a Roster spot? I mean in PPR, he is expected to have some appeal. Some projections have him as 40-50 rec and that makes him RB4 worthy.

I’d hardly call that worthless. While players you draft there are going to be long shots to ever make a meaningful impact, I’ve also personally drafted Aaron Jones and Chris Godwin in the 3rd round of rookie drafts.
I challenge you to look at the 3rd round of every rookie draft you've ever been in and if the hit rate is above 10% I'd be shocked.
Literally what I just said. They’re dart throws, but sometimes those dart throws can completely turn a team around if you hit. Long shots, yes. Worthless? Hardly. I moved Chris Godwin straight up two years ago for Derrick Henry. Yes, the Godwin I drafted with the 3.08.

And league size matters as well. I play in mostly larger leagues (14-18 teams), which is a massive difference from 10-12 teams.

The thing I dislike about 10 team leagues is that you’re stacked at every position and it creates who do I start problems.
Well, we start 2QB and then 7 between RB/WR(have to start at least two of each), so I wish I could say I have that issue but not really lol.

I actually did that very exercise a few months ago. In FFPC where we go thru 7 rounds in the rookie draft:
Going back to 2016 I have hit on 17/77 3rd round or later picks. For 22%. Just 3rds by themselves I am 5 for 20 at 25%.
I didn't get all these but here are *several* league winning or franchise changing examples from the last few years. Hitting at 1 out of 4 is worth hustling for year in and year out. I will take extra picks whenever I can get them and they aren't worthless.

I included a couple late 2nds because you can get there if you have extra 3rds laying around. I wouldn't pay for Gio but he might be the back to own in 2021.

There is another owner in my league that believes the way you do. We made a water bucket bet that the whoever scores less between A-Rob and Ridley gets the loser a bucket of ice water dumped over their head at the draft next year. Lol.

Outside of that you have to really consider how many of these guys were still on the team that drafted them when they did break out. This is especially true in FFPC. For instance yes George Kittle was drafted at 4.01 but this forum's Kittle thread is littered with posts from those of us that lament drafting Kittle in FFPC and then cutting him prior to his breakout. Kittle was on his 4th team in my main FFPC league by the time he broke out.
And that's a guy that broke out in only his second season, AND had a pretty strong rookie season that gave us some hope. There is no way anyone that drafted Bob Woods held him for 6 years until he broke out with the Rams, or held James White for 5 years and got a taste of his RB1 season, or held Darren Waller through him being out of the NFL for years to finally reap the rewards of him being on Oakland.
If Justice Hill suddenly rushes for 1000 yards this year on whatever team he is on the roster for now, it's not like anyone is going to come in here saying "see I drafted him in the 3rd round of my FFPC league 3 years ago, that pick is really paying off!". He was cut long ago.
Sure some of the guys like Scary Terry and Gibson broke out fast enough for people to reap the rewards, but I'd wager the vast majority of that list are guys who were cut by the team that drafted them before they finally paid off.
ETA: For fun I just went back and looked at the 3rd round rookies in my main FFPC league from last year.

NONE of those guys are still on the team that drafted them at this point. So even if several of them break out we'll probably be having this discussion again 3 years from now and reference those breakouts as 3rd round picks that paid off, but realistically none of them did. There's just not room in FFPC to hold onto 3rd rounders that don't show out immediately, and then capitalize on that potential really quickly.
