I see it more as "this was one terrible awful horrible no-good trade" - I don't think it's an indictment of the FF community's love for Toney in general. Most of the deals I've seen on here involving Toney have been pretty reasonable. 

The ones I have seen are reasonable, if high on Toney.  If looking at him unbiasedly, I would say a lot of them seem like overpays to me.  He still has Danny Dimes throwing him the ball and still has problems staying on the field.  It just seems like he is getting a ton of love that he may not have earned yet.  He probably has a ton of upside though too but seems like a lot of people don't recognize the downside at all or the fact that he could be closer to the down side than the upside.

I got 1.02

I think that is a screaming deal to move up that spot. Right now I think there is a clear tier break there but if I'm wrong I will still end up preferring the 1.02 by a bit.

This is easily worth it.  I'd pay that all day.

They're wrong. I'm right. 

JK I don't know but there is a guy I want at 1.02 and for me there is Hall in one tier and then my 1.02 in another and then a two-player tier. Then from 1.05 it is a bit of a mess but I have my thoughts there too. I've looked quite a bit deeper at these rookies now than I had even a couple weeks ago. Doing a startup is a great exercise for that, plus the outfit I'm working with did a big rookie mock where we each did a write up on each pick. So I have managed to soak up a bit but of course the NFL draft will be giant. I like to try and draft them or trade (up) for them before their ADP jumps. I will have some cheap misses but I will hit some home runs hopefully. The jump from 1.03 to 1.02 may not mean a dang thing in the end, but it might mean quite a lot. Guess we will see.

I know last year (even before his sophomore season) before the draft, in my league, he went for 1.01 (Harris) and a 22 1st that was projected middle but ended up being 1.09.  I'd have to get paid off to trade him.  Too bad I moved him his rookie year before he blew up.  Hate my life sometimes but I did get the chip out of it.

I drafted tons of Justin Jefferson at the end of the 1st round (even a couple in the beginning of the 2nd in SF) but after that week 1 I did trade a couple shares. One of them ended up getting me a piece that by dumb luck brought me the ship in that league later that year. His name was David Johnson and I got hosed in the deal. Which is to say I was the one that turned the hose on and stepped in front of it. I just looked it up and yeah it is painful to type. This was FFPC SF:

Ouch, you might win the loss on this one.

Now this is not quite the same thing as trading Jefferson but I had a league with picks 3,4, 6 and 8 and I traded 3/8 for 1.1.  I always had Jefferson in a tier by himself as player 8 and every single draft I did the top 7 went in the top 7 so I know without any doubt, not after the fact analysis, I would have picked Swift at 3 and JJ at 8. Instead I got CEH at 1.1. Thats probably worse but not a direct trade..

The actual JJ trade I did was one of my biggest trades ever, was after week one of 2020.

I gave Kyler Murray, Jefferson, Noah Fant, and my projected late 2021#1 and #2 which did end up as pick 11.

I got Mahomes, Michael Thomas, Dallas Goedert and some back end old WR depth scraps that were cut soon after.

My goal was just to get Mahomes on a team I had Kelce, Tyreek and CEH and it turned into something bigger.

I'm on the same side here.  I think I take the 1.2 but honestly would have preferred to wait until the NFL draft to make this trade.  The guy that got Gibson, isn't the best evaluator of talent and I think he dreads the draft when he has high picks.  Seems scared to make mistakes so it worked for both teams but I like the pick side personally but get both arguments.

Glad I'm not alone.  I got him at 1.08 and way overpaid to get Kelce in the deal that year.  It sucks but you move on.  I hope you at least finished in the money that year to make it worth it.

Don't see why he made this trade but rookie fever gets to us all at some point. Likely a push for him except the talent pool seems deeper next year. Again, one of those trades that they should have made on the clock if his guy is there. I like it from your side as those 2023 picks are like gold right now.

One of my thoughts on the bolded, is to use those 2023 picks to acquire a good player at a little bit of a discount or at least get an extra year of production. I have no issue moving a future first for proven production.

I’’m just a little worried about Kittle’s numbers dropping with Lance, but that’s just because I haven’t seen it yet. As a Niner fan I sure hope it’s gangbusters.

I would love this type of return as I am shopping Kittle currently. Personally, I would have gone and tried to acquire Dalton Schultz whose production might be on par with or even better than Kittle over the next 2-3 seasons but with a much lower perceived value can probably be had for half the cost.
