*** OFFICIAL *** FFA WAGERING THREAD - Merry Christmas!!! (13 Viewers)

It was cool to hear Billy talk about every single thing I learned in here the L14 years. Apparently he wrote a book as a means to "give back" to all the young bettors of today who are oblivious to ev and pricing and are the ones buying all these prop parlays that are single-handedly increasing DK stock price every day. The same ones he says he doesn't bet because there's no edge and they're impossible to beat.

He did say that he never thought he'd be writing these "secrets" in a book for the general public to consume. Not because they were secrets, necessarily, but because that type of information (the same information I learned in here from you guys) is generally priceless info that he wouldn't have sold for $1M ten years ago.
Agreed but it was an entertaining read.. at least to me.

I only saw the JRE interview. I should probably add the book to my reading list. It's gonna get me jacked up, I can already tell, just based on how the interview hit me. It really brought me back. And it really made me proud knowing that this "priceless information" he was speaking of from 10 years ago was the same stuff I was learning from and playing by - and living my life by, just from being in here. It paired perfectly, in tandem, with going to business school at the time. Reading all those books and feeling like I was crushing at both. And just remembering The Smart Money book and how legendary Walters was back then; used to really romanticize everything about that dude.

I'm reading This is How They Tell Me the World Ends by Nicole Perlroth right now. Got about 13 hours left.

Another newbie question. This isn't my path. Once I make my 5000 rollover I'm cashing out what I got. It just got me thinking...

Suppose u had 1000 dollar credit on a site. You start playing bets. Then suppose your 1000 turns into 1500 every week. You then decide to cash out 500 a week into your checking account and keep playing with your 1000. You continue this through the year. How does that work at the end of year for taxes? Do these sites send you tax forms? Do you just have to use the honor code and claim earnings?

They will typically send W2-G for certain events as required by law (big slot wins, etc, you’d have to check the laws)

As far as day to day wins and losses and withdrawals you’d have to report (or choose not to) on your own

long time lurker, first time pooster.

need some advise. i’m in NC and gamblor started here today legally. i have a FD account for small type stuff. apparently, i have $350- in bonus bets to use. no idea how to use them or where to play. i have about $50- of my own money in the account. how do i use these bonus bets? any good plays and amounts? maybe point me around? do i use $50 bets? parlays? futures? i am honestly clue less. tia

Is it bonus money that you can play any amount you want, or is it bonus bets? My guess is it’s the latter (5 bets @ $50 each or whatever)

I guess it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish (quick rollover to build a bankroll, or just have fun). This time of year I’d probably use them on the players championship and some March madness winners or something or get down some MLB season long bets

Also, let’s say you’re using a $50 free bet on a -500 team or something, pretty sure you only get credited the winning amount ($10 or whatever) and not your bet. So they’re usually better to use on longer odds bets

Edit: it should give you the option to use one of the bets in your bet slip. Like bet Tarik Skubal for Cy Young and then there should be a prompt to use one of them bonus bets

i think i read the winning amount thing somewhere. that mlb futures thing is interesting. i guess i will check out some long odds stuff to maximize. seems it’s bonus bets, not money fyi.

U.S. based regulated sportsbooks will send you a tax form form if you end up net >+$600 at year end.

Online books wont send anything. Honor code for those.

I was worried about Chandler making the weight cut be she weighed in heavy so....

Well. My degenerate gambling days are over. Since my $2000 dollar super bowl win I gambled $5000 in 27 days to reach my rollover amount. I cashed out. I ended up adding 400 bucks to my 2000 in winnings. I'm retired. Take that gambling addiction.

I set up deposit limits last summer. I don’t want to get into specifics but I came to terms that I had a problem

the dumb rollover amounts, I have a pretty big number to hit so I think I’m going to hammer the money line on a couple big favorites on Thursday and Friday and just deal with the -8000 plus odds to reach my number :wall:

The Hard Rock should be pretty sick though. As far as strategically-placed bordertown casinos goes. It should be pretty sick. There's a sick Kroger and Asian massage parlor in the strip mall next door with a luxury vape shop and thrift-clothing store. I overheard a white guy with braids telling his fat coffee-drinking girlfriend he had an I.Q. of 472. I can't wait to sit at a blackjack table with those guys. You know the degenerate combo couple of "black dude with a cane/anorexic, older white woman with a sequened cap pulled down way too low?" They have that. You know how she has a decent body? But her sequened cap is pulled so low it totally hides her face? It's like her entire body IS her poker face. And I'm not hating - I'm there too. We're all just buying frozen pizzas at Kroger waiting for the Hark Rock to get built.
