***Official*** Green Bay vs. San Francisco Game Thread (1 Viewer)

CMC, Cook, Kamara, Henry, Mixon all got paid big deals. That makes Jones the best FA available at RB. He's gonna cost at least 12 million a year.

I'd rather see Green Bay spend that money at LB, or WR, or even CB. That offense can work just fine with Williams or a similar level RB.
Travis Etienne would likely be available late the first round. And Jones is a much better runner than Jamaal.

This reminds me of listening to Arif Hasan bend over backwards to argue that Cook isnt worth his contract just because he is a RB.

I found out that Cook is the best RB in the league in many different metrics that did not help his argument which boils down to no RB being worth a good contract.

The RB doesnt matter narrative has gone too far.
I still wouldn't have paid Cook. The only RB's I'd pay big money are CMC(best all around RB), Chubb(best pure runner in the NFL), Barkley(most talented, but starting to question health) and Kamara(best receiver)

Cook's durability makes me really nervous. I would have rather used that money to keep Diggs.

RBs matter(every position matters) but the supply outweighs the demand greater at RB than any other position.

there's almost no FA Running backs. Drake, Carson and Mack are the only 3 that I see

I think the scrutiny of player contracts is much higher at the RB position than it is at others, because they get the ball so much and its easier to measure their performance compared to other players like cornerbacks.

There are players at every position that get over paid every season, yet there is no narrative against over paying them like there is about RB.

If Cook isn't worth it then no one is. The Vikings were not able to function nearly as well without him.

Conner, Gurley, Williams, Fournette(I think), Bell, Murray(I think), Mostert, in addition to those 3. Not to mention a bunch of very talented rookies, headlined by Etienne, who is better than any RBs in the past 2 drafts in my opinion.

I agree players are overpaid at all positions. The biggest offenders in my opinion are DL, especially interior lineman.

I would disagree with the bolded. They have fared decently without Cook throughout his career. The Falcons game doesn't erase that. Cook is obviously their best RB, but I think they could have been better off spending that money elsewhere, and I'm a big Cook fan.

GB has no reliable pass catchers besides D. Adams, yet he seemingly open all day.  How have NFL DC's not figured this out yet?
I think they are aware of the situation.

Its one thing to have a plan and another thing to actually get your players to execute the plan.

The Vikings seemed to have some success with bracket coverage and having LB stay on him even deep but its a lot easier said than done.

Adams is really strong. He can just out power a lot of corner backs.

What happened with Reed? I think he’s the best te the Niners have with Kittle chips out, but didn’t see him out there that much. Did they just activate him to get him a few plays to get in game shape or what?

He made a catch on the first drive. Not sure where he went after that.
