***Official***GTA V thread... (1 Viewer)

Ok, while on this boring conf call I'm setting up my guy. Here's how each category affects your skillz:

Asleep:

More time Asleep = More Stamina/Strength/Stealth/Lung Capacity and vice versa (which goes for all of these)

With Friends and Family:

More = Increased Stamina/Driving

Less = Increased Shooting

Playing Sports and Working Out:

More = Increased Stamina/Strength/Lung Capacity

Less = Increased Shooting/Driving

Doing Legal Work:

More = Increased Stamina/Flying/Stealth

Less = Increased Driving

Sitting on the Couch:

More = Increased Flying/Driving

Less = Increased Stamina/Strength/Lung Capacity

Partying:

More = Increased Shooting/Stealth

Less = Increased Stamina/Strength/Flying/Lung Capacity

Doing Illegal Work:

More = Shooting/Driving

Less = Lung Capacity

Interestingly, your outfit changes based on the allocation as well. Kind of funny.
So, which are easier to level up via gameplay?

I imagine Shooting, Stamina, and Driving level up easy because you're doing those activities a ton.

Stealth? Ugh, I don't want to creep everywhere around town... I might try and up my stealth as much as possible.

Still debating:

Wait for the PC version (which is likely to be another 6 months) or buy a PS3 & game knowing that the PS4 will be out in few months.

:wall:

I still haven't bought it either, but am very tempted. I think what's holding me back is time to learn the controls. I don't game much on consoles, and am useless playing FPS. I tried GTA IV, but the driving wasn't very easy for me right away, and running around I couldn't control the character very well.

For those with more experience, will this be easier to get into, or is it more of the same (me being too old)?

I play on average about 1-2 games a year. And I suck at them. I also hated GTA IV. But I love this game. And I've been doing pretty well.

I hadn't played games in MANY years (last system was a PS2). Leading up to this game's release I went out and bought a used Xbox360. It took maybe 5 minutes to get the control somewhat down, and maybe a 1/2 hour to become comfortable. Its not a steep learning curve at all.

Has anyone actually made it online yet? I've tried a bunch times and never make it.

I am part of the crew though. RCseventhree.

Thanks guys... I might just get this now, if I can find it somewhere.

Is the game $60 everywhere, or can it be found cheaper?

Someone is selling a used Xbox 360. I don't know anything about them (version etc).

Will this play GTA 5 or is this an older model or something?

What are you doing in DC?

Any of the versions would work, provided it has enough storage (more than 8 GB). There is an 8 GB model, so don't get that one.
Thanks. I contacted the buyer and was getting ready to pick it up. I'm glad I asked the FFA first.

You can just get that one and then buy a separate used HDD for the extra space when you're purchasing GTAV at GameSpot or wherever. They're not that much money.

Yup, that'll play it just fine. Pull the trigger, pull the trigger!
I have an XBOX 360 Elite, with a 120Gb Hardrive (I think), that should work, right?

ETA: I don't think I have anything on the HDD, unless games save something on it?

Alternatively, you can also use most flash USB drives for storage space as well. Just make sure you get at least 16GB or more. They're usually in the $15-$40 range.

That is an orginal version of the Xbox360 based on the photos. The white CD tray cover is a give away. If it doesnt have a hard drive you can probably pick one up at a local Gamestop for under $30 for the 20GB model.

I think I'll just buy the PS3 game package.

Going the used route puts me at about $200 for everything, might as well get everything I want for $250 (best buy bundle PS3 & game).

Yeah, that's more than enough. The game's install size is only 8GB or so.

ETA: 2, 000 posts. 'MERICA, #### YEAH!

Now I'm confused :confused:
You need to ask the seller if it comes with a Hard Drive. If it doesnt they you'll either need to get a Hard Drive, as I mentioned above, or you can use a flash drive. You have to install disc one of GTA V on the hard drive or flash drive. This install takes up about 8GB of space.

This.

$90 + $60 for the game = $150 all in isn't bad.

But no drive, you're out more for a drive. That makes the $250 PS3 deal a little more intriguing imo. Warranties and stuff too.

Yeah, do that. Even if you get a PS4, you'll still have uses for the PS3 beyond gaming if you have more than one TV in your house. So it's not a total waste.

I'm like you. I suuuuuuuck at FPSs but don't have much trouble with GTA V. Sometimes I'll miss a punch and aiming, especially while driving, is kind of tough for me but it really hasn't been a hindrance. It's not really a "fast reaction time" game, IMO.

PS3 with GTA V for $250 is a great deal. I would definitely recommend the PS3 over the 360 at this point in their life cycles. Just based on that fact that your getting a great blu ray player even if you jump in to the next gen consoles.

Sorry if it's been mentioned earlier, but if one had to chose between PS3 or XBox360, which would you chose (and why)?

Don't have either console at the current moment but what I've seen of this game, that may change shortly.

If you're picking up a console just for GTA, just go with whatever console is cheaper, factoring in the $60 (or whatever it is) that you would have to pay for XBL Gold. In other words, if you can get a 360 for $60+ less than a PS3, then get a 360. Otherwise get the PS3.

If you're going to play other games down the road, take a look at their respective libraries. Xbox has Halo, Gears, Forza, Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead, and a few others. Playstation has Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, inFamous, Gran Turismo, Killzone, and a few others. Go with whichever console has the more appealing lineup.

Thanks for the quick response. I had been debating getting a console for my kids to use with Disney Infinity - I'll check it out further. Thanks again.

The blu-ray player in the PS3 is the cincher for me. It's an elegant system with far less maintenance issues than the Xbox. XBox's online gaming is supposed to be a bit more reliable, but then you also have to subscribe to it.

PS3 had a required update for the game today.

At lunch I was using the sub for the first time, and stopped by the money suitcase and RPG by the crashed plane. Tried the switch characters and back so I could load up on RPG ammo.

Doesn't seem to work anymore. Must have fixed the glitch in the update.

Nice job by them. :thumbup:
