Timely bump. The PC version comes out later this month and as usual, it should be the definitive version of the game. Already played and beat it on PS3 and I cant remember the last time I was this excited to replay a game.
I have no console (except a Wii, but that doesn't count) so I'm looking forward to this. But I usually don't buy games until they fall half price or less. May have to shoot the lock off the wallet for this one.

Not much of a gamer outside of the GTA genre...so are PC versions substantially different from the console?
The game itself is not much different but the one thing that stands out is the ability to run mods. Could be anything from cheat trainers to modding in the bat mobile.

Also if you have a good enough rig, the graphics are usually way better.

posted in another thread, but I can't get the hang of driving, aiming and firing down at all. can't even make it through Michael's first mission. I'm even having a hard time getting by his first ? mission with aliens. obviously I'm not a gamer, but is there a way to set these things up where they auto find the target or does it have to be manually done?
Its been a quite a while since I played, but I do remember being quite frustrated with Michaels first mission. Maybe look on IGN or GamerFAQs for tips. I don't really remember how I finally got through the mission. Sorry.

Father/Son? Where he has to save his kid on the yacht?

That mission is almost identical to the physics of the final mission in San Andreas. Chase the truck/car/boat and then catch someone as they hang off the pole or whatever they are hanging on to. The most important thing you can do is focus on your driving. Make sure you stay with them and don't crash.Trying to kill the guy going for Franklin is secondary and you have time to deal with that. You need your car in decent enough shape to be able to catch Jimmy and Franklin.

If you are ever going to shoot and drive in GTA I recommend sliding your pointers to the bumpers and use your middle fingers as the triggers. This allows you to shoot, aim, and drive at the same time.

I'm thinking to myself if the beginning missions are this hard for me I should probably stop now....

I will try this madshot. thanks for tip.

Just started playing on xbox:

1) What is the purpose of switching between the characters?

2) How do I play the story line? If Im playing the black guy what symbols do I look for on the map to start a new mission?

3) So far I've only done a few missions but none that really involved shooting. When does this change?

4) Help with the above PLEASE.

1. You'll see. It's awesome.

2. If a character doesn't have anything on the radar check another character.

3. After the first few. But there a lot of non shooting ones throughout.

4. It's a big game. Give it time and enjoy.

So do I have to play both players? Also what does a mission look like on the map? Is it a certain color? Sorry for dumb questions.

Look for icons that are a letter. Not all missions can be done by every player, and you can tell if the current player is able to take it by the size and color of the icon.

Blue is for Michael, Green is for Franklin, Orange is for another character you haven't met yet.

For example, if a guy named "Lester" is available to give a mission to Michael, it will show up as a large blue "L" on your map if you are currently playing as Michael. It will show up as a small blue L if you are playing as Franklin.

My advice is to switch characters often. It really is fun to get the different perspectives. Also, there's a lot of fun stuff to do, so don't rush from mission to mission and explore a little bit.

i have a question... i had a stolen car in my garage.

i took that to the autoshop and spent tons on it. if fast super fast and super strong.....

i took it to a mission and its now gone....not in my garage either... whats the point of fixing mt car up if i can only use it sparingly
You put a tracker and auto insurance on it too?
I don't know if this schtick or not
Its real for online. For offline, you just wasted money. Offline, only upgrade their default vehicles.
crap, thanks... what is this blimp people talk about
still early on in the game. does anyone know if this has been corrected for the OFF line game? that seems like a major oversight and a letdown to me. is there a cheat, app, etc to get around this?

sorry if it was mentioned in here as I haven't read post by post

I just got done with offline game and after losing one customized car, I didn't bother upgrading any other car after that. If you go into the character's garage, you can access multiple vehicles (by pressing right while in the middle of the garage). Between the racecar and Hakochou motorcycle, I never felt the need for a custom vehicle.

If you go do a mission and they make your car disappear, you can frequently go to the police impound lot and get it back. There's an icon to help you locate it, right half of the city, just to the left of the river. Walk down into the parking lot to the garage door and it'll let you pay to get your vehicle back.

It works a lot but I don't think it's perfect, you can still lose your car to a mission. Best to just keep your souped up non-character car in your garage when going to do a mission.

Haven't played in forever. Anything fun actually get added to it eventually?
Lowriders/Hydraulics in the last update. Also a bunch of new Lamar missions that incorporate them.

There was a cool stalker game added for Halloween. The lights go out and all the players are stalked by 1 other player for 3 min or so... after the 3 min is up the stalked get shotguns and have to come after the stalker. Fun.

Heists also came out 6 months or so ago.

Are these online only?

I still have nightmares about all of the lag and random booting from online.

I don't ever play SP, so yea, online.

You probably haven't played since release as it's been stable a long time. Or it's your internet connection
