PS3 had a required update for the game today.

At lunch I was using the sub for the first time, and stopped by the money suitcase and RPG by the crashed plane. Tried the switch characters and back so I could load up on RPG ammo.

Doesn't seem to work anymore. Must have fixed the glitch in the update.
looks like there are some character specific garages added along with the update.
Where at?
.

Different places in the city (Franklin's is the Grove St Garage). Just drove by, but I was in my character's main car and it said it couldn't be stored there
That was there before the update. Michael and Franklin each had one.
That's weird... I never saw them. And I beat all the missions and got the credits so a big glowing colorful place on the map would really standout to me.
I've seen them on the map, but I never bothered to go there.

ETA: Trevor has one too (in the city, not desert)... did he not before?
Trevor's was there before too. First thing I bought for all three.

Aggravating. LifeInvader down to $3.47 and I only have about 1.5m to invest because the other $35m is in Bawsaq stock I can't sell because it won't connect.

Okay... that's it then... they're all free now. The update unlocked them for free.

Awwww yeeeaaahh -- finally figured out how to use my Linux laptop's wireless connection to connect to Xbox Live so I can play on my good TV in the living room. Otherwise I would have had to play on the about-to-shart-the-bed-any-day-now TV in my bedroom. Thing's like anti-HD, it's awful.

Anyway, it's currently saying the Rockstar cloud servers are unavailable -- because of course it is -- but I'm going to just keep spam-retrying over and over again until I get on. Is anyone online currently?

Oh snap, you can choose to wear a T-shirt with our crew's logo on it when creating your character? (I never would have discovered this if not for having to create my dude like four different times because the servers kept lagging and not letting me start up to save)

I already did, but all I got was a friend request from you. I accepted that My Xbox gamer tag is gmanx23 and my nickname is PapichuloFBG..

It says I already invited you to join -- do you have any messages or notifications when you log in on the Social Club website? If not, I can try and uninvite and then reinvite you to see if that works. Lemme see what I can do.

No, nothing....undo it and reinvite and see what happens.

Also, my character name is different than my nickname....which do you need?

I can't find an option to uninvite you anywhere, but I do have an idea! :bowtie:

Make sure you're logged into your social club account on the website and head over to this link: http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/crew/free_for_all_mob and see if there's an option to accept invite, join crew or anything of that matter, because it's saying I've already invited you and thus the options on my end are pretty limited.

Ok, that worked. Thanks. I am on the West Coast and I will be on later tonight to attempt to play online if anyone wants to play.

So every single time I tried to get online, I'd get right up just prior to the initial race thing starting and it would always hang on "Finding other players" -- literally tried it again and again like 9 different times.

In a dark, foul and increasingly frustrated mood, I sought solace via our good friend The Google and discovered the cure-all fix for this particular problem (note this only works for Xbox 360, to the best of my knowledge):

1. Quit to your dashboard.

2. Go to settings.

3. Go to storage settings.

4. With your main HDD/flash drive that has GTAV/GTA: Online installed highlighted, press Y.

5. Clear system cache.

6. Reboot, launch the game and try to get online again.

7. Weep unabashed, manly tears of joy as you realize this actually fixed the problem.

Sounds good, I'll be on. Xbox Live GT: GallyNukes.

Still haven't been able to get online.

I managed to freeze the game though... was in front of the theater with the stars in the side walk, got close to the doors of the theater and turned around and launched a grenade at the cab stand with like 20+ people milling about. The grenade went high and hit a car driving past, causing and explosion, which blew up that car and two taxis and about 20 people and right there it froze, fireballs and auto parts and people flying through the air in a giant orgy of death. I wish I'd been able to take a selfie in front of this work of art.

I was stuck at the loading screen for the first race. I finally fixed it last night by deleting my character and making a new one. I finally completed the tutorial last night, but that was all I completed online. Looking forward to and hoping things running smoother tonight.

I have been moving slowly with the missions, just got Trevor last night. Its amazing how different his whole area is from the other two characters, its almost like he's a separate game as of now. Love the multiple characters, at first I thought it was just shtick, now they got something that other games will start copying all the time.
Same here. When I heard that they were doing this, the whole thing just screamed "gimmick." It actually works really well though and advances the story in a way that would be hard to do otherwise.
Not to mention that it lets them really utilize the size of the map to its full potential.

I had to do this too... could be good to know for future sign-ups

Seems kind of a coincidence that the government shut down the day GTA5 went live online. Has anyone seen an orange character called Boehner4Life running around the map online?

I've given up on online. It never works. Maybe in a month Rockstar will figure something out, but for now it's not worth sitting around trying to get on, only to succeed on the 8th try and then crash before the first race.

What a disaster.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been online without a hitch but with no FBGs to co-operate with its boring for me.

Playing Gears with my FBG friends has spoiled my MP experience for life.

This is 2013. Online gaming has been around for a while now. Many video game companies have had online gaming fails because of too much activity for servers.

So why are companies still failing at this? Explain like I'm Nancy Pelosi with a video game controller in her hand.

I'll be on tonight. And agreed, the multiplayer stuff -- especially the co-op missions more-so than the deathmatches and races -- will definitely be WAY more entertaining with some of you guys as opposed to random strangers. Because even with random strangers, it's still pretty fun.

I'm thinking about just creating a dedicated private server/world/game that's locked to everyone but our crew. That can be done, right? Because at least that way there'll be a specific world available for anyone in the crew to join and instantly be able to play with whichever of us is available and online at the time.

I'm thinking maybe it may be a bit easier to connect to as well for those having connection/lag/server troubles. So long as we weren't chalk-full with 16 total participants -- which I'm pretty sure won't be a problem what with the time zone differences and the like. I imagine the less players that are in a given world, the smoother and faster the connection process would be, no?

No online game in the history of gaming has had to deal with the sheer volume of players currently trying to connect than with GTA: Online right now. The game did a billion dollars in sales in just THREE days, remember, which is absolutely frigging bananas and completely blew absolutely every other game release out of the water. The next closest game to sell even close to that much was Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 which also reached a billion in sales... albeit FIFTEEN days after its release.

Rockstar is basically writing the rulebook right now in regards to managing an absolutely astronomical amount of online gamers all at once. And considering they're doing it all within an open-world framework, as opposed to say -- an aforementioned Call of Duty game -- where it's just a specific, relatively small number of levels, and it's even more astounding. Things have already improved a ton from the first 24 hours following when GTA: Online went live and there's no doubt in my mind a week from now Rockstar will have everything under control and running smoothly.

My son is out of his mind trying to get on. I showed him the above and he is worried this erase his game play status. Seems like this wouldn't be the case, but wanted to check. Thanks!

The only semi-important thing that clearing your system cache removes are some game updates. And this is usually only for older games. These can easily (and oftentimes will automatically) be re-downloaded whenever you launch the game and are connected to Live. Thankfully, clearing your 360 system cache won't affect the GTA5/GTA: Online game updates, so no worries on that front if that would also be a point of worry.

Clearing your system cache essentially just clears up and deletes temporary game and system files that have become damaged and are more or less useless. Say, when you create 2-3 separate save files for one game and end up deleting one or two of them (to cut back on space). Those game saves that you delete will -- for whatever reason -- leave behind a relatively minuscule imprint of themselves on the hard drive. Think along the lines of clearing the temporary files/history of your Internet browser -- especially in that, say, it won't delete your bookmarks but will instead just help clear up the unnecessary junk and keep everything running smoothly/not be overloaded with tons of needlessly excessive files/data.

Microsoft actually recommends clearing your system cache at least once or twice a month (it really depends on how many games and/or how much you play) to help ensure things are running smoothly from a system perspective. It definitely doesn't affect game saves or dashboard apps in any way, shape or form, though. I can promise you that and give you my word!

heading online to start a FFA crew only game. for those who dont know launch the game in story mode then choose online from the pause menu. From there choose play online and another menu should pop up and choose the play with crew only and it should connect you if anyone else is on.

I dont think its our personal server or anything just only we can join together.

Ah okay, trying that now. I sent you a message saying I couldn't join the way I was trying to (directly from my online game) but will try that method and see if it works, gimme a few minutes!

PS: I found the option to create a closed online crew game that only our crew could join, but no one seemed to be able to join and it was literally just me for like an hour. What happened when I tried to invite you to that one?

Actually, nevermind, I was literally just describing EXACTLY what you were describing.

Gally you sent messages but it shows you offline
I had to reboot because the game froze (as it does pretty often when trying to launch online). I just joined the crew session, are we in this same session together? If not, I agree, the prior party creation would be the best bet if this doesn't work.

Yeah, it didn't work. Quit to your dashboard and we'll join a party together and then go into the game together and see if that works. Lemme know in here when you've back into the dash.

i cant join the closed crew session its greyed out.

You are showing as offline to me by ryodan is playing blackops so I am connected
