It's pretty swell when you put 5 sticky bombs on the back of your car, drive up next to a crowd outside a movie theater, park, walk away a bit and then detonate. People catch on fire, tons of mayhem. I love sticky bombs.

I still can't get online. :wall:
Saw a news article today that said a patch was supposed to be available today that SHOULD fix all of the online issues people are having. I'm not online, so I don't know. Just passing on the info.

Just logged in (PS3) and it works great. I did the Lamar race and the first job. Now I'm on free roam, looking for an ATM.

One thing I noticed is the weapons are really expensive. Ammunation wanted $9K for a clip upgrade for the pistol.

So am I going to need a headset to do jobs with the crew here?

(I never game online - first time)

The online game keeps telling me to look for an ATM to "keep my money safe."

Do you lose it if you die or something?

I also noticed police responses aren't as strict as in GTAV, and everyone drops money and ammo (if they're armed). I walked up to a security guard outside a bank and shot him in the head. Took the paper, took the ammo, no cops, no warning stars.

Yes. Find ATM to save money. If u die you get lots of it taken.

Can someone bump the xbl list.

At the hospital with a sick kid right now so been reading up some play logs online. Some are pretty funny. So apparently if you kill a bunch of gamers in a wide open world they matchmake you with just those types. do it enough and you have to wear a dunce hat and eventually you just end up playing with dunce hat guys.

Other pro tips i'm seeing is only upgrade muscle cars online something about having to pay actual USD to upgrade sports cars?

The ATM tip is everyone's tip.

Also they say to save up your money for trackers to buy a garage that puts trackers on your cars automatically.

You don't need to find an ATM. Just go to the Maze Bank site on your phone.

So, single player game, I have had the jet fighter for awhile, but getting the military helicopter was a tremendous pain. I was coming in on the ground, and tried from both entrances. And died at least a dozen times on each entrance. I never even got the helicopter to start up to where it could move before a tank would blow me away each time.

Finally I started parachuting in, entering from the east side which spawned most of the soldiers there while I drifted past overhead high enough up they couldn't see me, so no wanted stars until I got down pretty low. Then I'd land between the hangars and sprint to whichever helicopter spawned (it can spawn in front of either hangar). Doing that, I got a helicopter off the ground on the first try but was shot down by a missile. Second time I managed to evade the missiles and get away. And then passed the helicopter off to all 3 characters to save on their own helipads.

Also, since the 2nd patch, the LCN stock prices seem a little different. I'm still making a killing on PIS and HAL, but not doing as well in the LCN stock market. I can still make money there but it seems like it takes a lot longer for prices to shift, and their bottom prices aren't the same as they were before. Every time I buy it immediately drops even if it was at the lowest I'd seen it, so I have to wait a long time for a stock to bounce back up.

But still splitting half my funds between HAL and PIS when I log out, and coming back to find at least one of them has 10% growth overnight, and the other in the 5-10% range normally. Up to about $70m on each character.

Oh, and other money saving tips... Frankling can buy the Los Santos garage up by Trevor's original home, and afterwards all upgrades there are free. It's extremely nice having fully upgraded cars, so I hand off the other character's default car to Franklin and have him go upgrade them. Also I have him take Adders and Obey 9Fs up there and fully deck them out, then pass back to the other characters to keep in their garage should the need arise for one.

I also tried to see if I could bank good money from the scrapyard, where you get like $100 or $150 per destroyed car. I grabbed a semi and found a spot on an overpass without a guardrail and was pushing cars off and blowing them up. Just wasn't cost effective though. I could make money faster probably doing Trevor's arms shipments.

Also, put some thought into what properties you buy with which characters when making cash. That is, either balance out the income each will earn, or else mass it up on the character you will buy the $150m golf course with to help him get there. The 3 movie theatres that Michael is the only one who can buy already put him way out front. So if you want balance, need to spread the others between Trevor and Franklin. Or if you want to just have Michael get the golf course, then have him buy everything he can.

I haven't tried it myself, but apparently you can deposit your money when online into your bank account via your phone's web browser and going to your bank's link on there.

I ordered one last night after knocking off a bunch of stores online and getting tired of the "intimidation bar" taking as long as it does. Apparently if you have a mic and yell into it it goes faster.

Online play is crazy... I joined a team of Germans for a 4 player co-op thing and apparently they didn't want me on their team as they all attacked the #### out of me to start the mission. Wasted the 2 lives they gave us on me and then two of the other guys died leaving the last one to fend for himself and almost blow the mission. Super fun.

protip: You can save you game on the phone instead of going to someone's house. You can also do this with your money in the online side, or hit a bank/ATM ;)

(although I was getting killed a LOT and didn't notice huge chunks of money missing... ended the night with about 30k)

In case anyone is curious, climbing out of your helicopter and running into the still spinning rear prop will kill you.

I just bought this myself. I'm not sure if I'll make a "profit," but I'm banking on the scrapyard and a heavy investment in the insurance company to offset the costs of my gregarious rampages.

Do you need a headset if you have a Kinect? I know FIFA knows enough to yellow card me all me time. I can hear the other online players when I play.
Nope, you can just yell at the Kinect piece and it serves exactly as a microphone. Albeit with you just slightly having to yell all the time. Or at least use your outdoor voice.

awwww man... WTF!??!

Played for several hrs last night and got up to lvl 10 and now my character is totally gone... do you have to go to an ATM to save?!

Anyone got any tips on improving your shooting/aim on the online side? I'm friggin horrible in these death matches. It's embarrassing how bad I am at shooting.

To load up on cash, find a team of 4 that are down to do the Richmond Mansion mission over and over. You get 5k per pop and it's pretty easy as long as you have 3 or 4 guys.

I'm pissed. I tricked out two cars for a bunch each, and they both completely disappeared. WTF?
I'm pretty sure the patch the fixed many of the online issues also wiped out my character. This may have happened to you too.

I'm also going to need another invite. Not only is my character gone, but my crew membership was wiped too.

I messed around on online a bit. I need to uber up my character a lot. Everyone is rolling Uzi and ak and I'm all 9.

I'm trying out the online game and I can't get any missions. I don't really care to play deathmatches in GTA, so I'm not even gonna try. However, since I couldn't find anything going on, I did a quick mission and told it to pick anything. I got nothing. So, what do I have to do to get something going online? All I've done is gone after the drop shipments, cars for Simeon (which I've only seen him ask for one) and kill a bunch of random gangs that I come up on. I had someone put a hit out on me, but I killed whoever came running (luckily).

And to top it all off... I hop off online after getting to lvl 6 and go back in only to see that my progress wasn't saved at all. So what I'm I doing wrong?

I've long let my Live membership lapse and I was considering going back to Gold for a little while for this, but I'm not convinced I need to be playing this [online].

I figured out what was going on. My first game never registered with Social Club and the cloud saving was turned off. So I wasted all that time. It's like it never happened.

Onkind totally down tonight when I went back about 10 CST. Did the jet ski mission.

What are you supposd to do with the where by the liquor store. The one marked t?

I dabbled with online a little Saturday. Got paired up with two randoms for the car race, which I won. I split from them to do some frolicking and later came up upon them both getting clothes. I didn't have a chat headset on, so they probably were wondering WTF I was doing.

Had I had a headset, I would have told them I'm as free as a bird, man, and this bird you cannot change.

So I'm at 65% for the game, and I have 10 story missions left. Making good progress. Here are some things from this weekend:

1) I killed a shark. And while that might not seem like a major achievement, it was on a dirt road.

2) The game is unbelievably detailed and perfect but I did notice one thing that is wrong. And it goes back to that Useless Knowledge thread. Before a guardrail starts, there is an orange and black sign with slanted lines, just like in real life. Only, I guess the makers of the game didn't know that the slanted lines are meant to be read from top to bottom and slant you back towards the road. The one's in the game are slanted the wrong way. But if that's my only complaint, kudos.

3) Trevor just gets funnier and funnier as the game goes on. Cracks me up.

4) I'm actually starting to feel sad knowing that the game is coming to an end. Well, the story, at least.

So apparently online if you are doing a robbery and yell into the mic the clerk will fill the bag with money faster.

I love the random comments by people on the street. One that had me laughing hysterically last night: "You smell like ####!" :lmao:

Same here. I'm taking my sweet time doing the missions. I'm going to try to max out everyone's abilities, vehicles and properties before I go ahead with the rest. I'm only around 40% done now. Did the submarine mission last night, now working on the one where you have to steal the tow truck and garbage truck.

There are a ridiculous number of missions where you don't get paid. I'm getting annoyed at this.
:goodposting:

I find the lack of having money to spend disturbing. At least...

The bank heist helps and I guess the final mission will give you more money than you know what to do with

how much money do you need?

I grabbed a helo from the hospital and snagged all the hidden packages. 150k in maybe 10 minutes.
The only guy who is shorthanded is Trevor really. Its just annoying in principle that they're not getting paid over and over and over again. I'm particularly frustrated that I boosted all of the cars required for those missions except the last one, which hasn't shown up as an available mission for me, so I can't get that payday yet.

Does Trevor get paid well if he salavages the downed plane from the lake? If so, that will be the next mission I do.

For a good as I am at shooters, I am absolutely terrible at shooting people on this game. Granted I play First Person shooters and not 3PS.

I get rocked at LTS everytime.

Holy crap. The Redwood Assassination turned my $85m per character into around $650m per character.

One thing that pisses me off is when they say to invest in a certain stock and it's only on the stock exchange that is hooked up online. That's stupid. Punishing me for not having my XBox hooked up to the Internet?

Was it in this thread that someone posted a link to a site where people were taking beautiful pictures from GTA5? No violent ones, just cool pictures? They looked awesome. I wanted to go back and check it out but can't find the link.
