The latest patch totally screwed up online. I coukdn't save either today. It asked me to make a new character.

No thanks.

It's back to Trevor's antics for awhile.

Sad to hear. I installed the patch yesterday and everything worked fine...although I wonder if it saved anything.

Rockstar claims that all progress yesterday will eventually update.

All I did yesterday was a failed Titan mission and a handful of races

Can't get online right now but all my progress from last night is updated on the R* social club site, including my photographs and stuff.

Can't get online either. Figures I finally get time to jump online for a long session.

I was able to get to the character selection screen by trying to go to a solo lobby, but my attributes and stuff weren't showing so I didn't want to chance messing anything up.

So I went back to mess around with SP. Apparently I didn't save after beating the main storyline, so I had to re-kill the three guys at the end. No big deal. But then I got slammed by the unskippable 30+ minute credit sequence again. Rockstar, why don't you want me to play the game you made? FFS guys.

I skipped the credits after 3 minutes or so.

It sure as hell wouldn't let me skip. I pushed every button the controller.

Replayed the first mission last night. Well worth it to see Trevor with hair.
:lmao:

I'm still thinking of restarting before I do the final heist. That way I'll take my time, do the side missions, leave the Lester missions until the end, not blow wads of money on car mods for cars I eventually wreck, etc.

I'm taking my time and doing as many side missions as possible. FWIW, if you want to knock out the 25 bridge fly-unders, get a chopper and just work the rivers in Los Santos. If you're a complete dork and want to get all 50, gllll with the two near the north end of town close to the racetrack.

Challenge accepted!

Have hit a couple of buggy things in the game.

After completing the 4th offroad ATV race, the game said the 5th unlocked but it has never put it on the map. Also not sure if this is a bug, but Mary Ann (or whatever the exercise chick is called) only showed up for Michael for the longest time. Finally I tried calling her with Michael and she immediately showed up for Franklin. Still hasn't shown up for Trevor though.

Switching to characters in helicopters and airplanes has resulted in them immediately crashing and dying before giving me control of the character. Franklin went from parked in a jet fighter in a hanger, to taking off towards the ceiling. Luckily was pointing in the direction of the door and I was able to nose down just enough in time to get out the door before he hit.

Trevor's girlfriend/dude's wife got all glitchy and kept disappearing and respawning in and out of the game every other second.

This one was my favorite. There were twin Michaels at Trevor's trailer: http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/snapmatic/photo/2jGSZhOrZkOOJF5QTYjJGw. The one on the porch ignored everything, the one right of the trailer was antagonistic towards Trevor before eventually stealing my fully upgraded Infernus in the garage and driving off in it.

Not a bug but fun. Driving an Adder at top speed down the highway that borders the ocean, I got bumped into the start of a guardrail which stopped my car dead and launched me through the windshield, over the beach and along the water line. Flew so far that Franklin turned on his stomach with his parachute on to skydive. I wasn't expecting it and wasn't quick enough to pop the chute before I hit the beach and died.

I thought for sure that GTA5 would easily occupy my time until the PS4 launch. I was even mildly apprehensive that my PS4 might get here too soon. Instead I find myself looking around for what I'm going to do over the next few weeks. This game is falling into GTA4 territory really quickly. R* obviously didn't plan for the online component very well, and the SP side isn't that interesting, at least for me, once the main story is over.

Ever jack a jet fighter and have it shut off mid flight? My engines just died.
I've found if aircraft get damaged enough they will eventually shut off. Have had it happen with helicopters too.

Although if you L2 to lower the throttle too much you can shut it off on your own mid-air as well.

Yesterday Michael walks out of his bedroom and a parade of hundreds of his son and daughter spawn and march down the stairs. Some of them randomly walk in circles, bumping into each other, causing a huge traffic jam. Later the same thing happened with the Mexican maid.A worse glitch though is that Franklin can't invest in Gold Coast before the last assassination. I retried a bunch of times, no luck. He has about $1.1 billion. No issues with Michael. Seems really racist.

After my mid-flight debacle, I jacked another fighter jet and parked it in my Sandy Shored hanger. I flipped to Franklin, then after a minute or so, flipped back.

Voila. There were TWO fighter jets in my hanger. It spawned a second one for some reason. :moneybag:

2nd page on a Sunday.

So, it has come to this...
Yeah, I decided to move on to Kingdoms of Amalur. The main campaign of GTA was really good, but online just isn't doing it for me even when it's working.
You're probably the only person I've seen that has been so despondent on GTA.

And I have no idea what a Kingdoms of Amalur is.
That's fair.

Just to be clear, I absolutely loved this game until after I beat the SP campaign. There were little things that got on my nerves (like how the game disregards your clothing choices on a regular basis, and how modded cars simply disappear if you drive them to a mission) but whatever. The world of Los Santos is probably the best-designed world I've ever encountered in a video game, except maybe for Dark Souls. Great game. I was thinking about where GTA5 fit in terms of Best Games Of This Generation.

Then I realized that there isn't much to do in SP after finishing the main story. Yeah, there's literally stuff to do, but you already have more money than you can spend, and most of the side missions don't captivate me. The one exception is Trevor's "arms race" missions, which I actually like. But the game won't let me do them. I can do one air mission and one land mission, and that's it. Then I have to switch characters, switch back to Trevor who spawns in God knows where, and then work my way back to the airfield to do two more. WTF? Just let me do these without the hassle, please. That was the end of SP for me.

The online part just plain blows. Great concept. I love the free-roam aspect. But if you try to do races/deathmatch/missions, you spend more time staring at lobbies and loading screens then you do actually playing the damn game. (Races are horrible to begin with, and unfortunately they seem to be the best way to level up). The matchmaking system is borderline-broken. I'm also pretty sure that I've lost money on some jobs thanks to the cost of ammo. I only realized fairly recently that R* is charging real-world money for in-game money, which explains a lot about the in-game economy works. Add in ticky-tack stuff like picking up stars for driving in a stolen car -- this in a game called Grand Theft Auto -- and it just isn't worth the hassle.

I'm not the only person to complain about this stuff. Neogaf, GameFaqs, and others have lots of other disillusioned people like me. I can sort of be talked into blowing off all the online-related issues on the grounds that R* isn't really about online games and is sort of in amateur hour when it comes to this part, but that doesn't explain why they structure the SP game like control freaks who won't let you dress your character the way you want. It's just baffling and doesn't fit with the sandbox / open-world format.

None of this is really directed at you, Brady. I've just put a lot of thought into why I'm so disappointed in this game after a great start, and I felt like I owed some sort of explanation as to why I soured on it.

Edit: To clarify a little more, this is still a clear top-tier game based on the SP campaign alone. If somebody told me that this was their personal GOTY -- especially Xbox guy's who didn't get TLOU -- I would have no problem with that. This would still be my GOTY in some years.

I keep playing so I can live vicariously through Franklin and Michael. They're billionaires, live in awesome homes, drive supercars, fly planes and helicopters, have great taste in clothes and bang strippers. For those 6 or 7 hours a day, I can escape my awful life and murder a bunch of people.

Here's the current updated list. Everyone's gamertag is in parentheses next to their FBG name and anyone who's name is bolded is officially all joined up and a member. And remember everyone, online kicks off tomorrow (might even kick off tonight at midnight, not sure). so quit your dilly-dallying!

All of your complaints are user error (You can do Trevor's smuggling missions back to back to back to back for example)... but this explains a lot:

Add in ticky-tack stuff like picking up stars for driving in a stolen car -- this in a game called Grand Theft Auto -- and it just isn't worth the hassle.
Like 50% of this game is evading cops. If you don't enjoy that aspect you are not going to have very much fun

FYI, online if you just go get your car resprayed you won't attract attention.

i think alot of people's initial frustration with online is that there isn't that much open to you until you hit roughly level 15. From 15 on it's pretty fast paced and plays more like a co-op SP. It helps a TON if you have even just one other person online to run through the missions with.

I kind of hit IvanK levels of frustration with GTA Online just now.

Had a great session playing deathmatches. Won a few in a row and was top killer on most of them. Group kinda disbands, so I take my money and deposit it. Then, I buy myself a garage.

Good stuff so far.

Then, I decide to go and jack a car and sell it to Los Santos Customs. So, I leave my car at the shop in the southeast and start running up to streetlevel so I can jack a car. Well, three #######s riding in some orange piece of #### decides it'd be a great idea to run me over. Cheap ####, but fine. So, I respawn, jack a nice car, and I'm just about to sell it to Los Santos Customs.

"You have been booted from this session. Please return to Grand Theft Auto V."

The virgin teen Fleshlight-####### pricks that killed me decided to add insult by kicking me.

I jump back online and I get some message saying how I quit in the middle of a job (when I wasn't in a job). I drop off a vehicle to Los Santos Customs, park my car in a garage, and call it a day when I was ready to play a couple more hours.

So yeah, I kind of see what Ivan is saying now. ####### stupid.

I haven't even had the chance to pick it up until yesterday because I've been traveling a lot. And I don't have a ton of time to play since I have two little boys and can't start it up until everyone is in bed.

But, I'm totally hooked. So far I've mostly been relivwing my 20s through Franklin. Do a little job to pick up a few bucks and then take it to the strip club. Last night wasn't the first time I've had to check the ATM to make sure I had enough money left in my account to make another go in the champagne room. I will have to give the in-game bouncers credit. They're much nicer about it than real ones are if they're throwing you out after getting handsy.

The constantly getting kicked from free roam has soured me on online too. Now I sign on just to see if any of you are around.

Knocked out the 25 bridge flights, then all 13 knife flights. Some of those are fairly tricky too. Now working on the stunt jumps. I've already ran into Antonia Bottino, who has a pretty interesting tie-in to previous GTA games.

Don't take her to the Altruists. Way better to take her where she wants to go. :moneybag:

There are so many little punks online. Two of them wasted me randomly as I went to steal a chopper. So, I respawned and started giving it back. I was killing them more than they were killing me, so then they decided to try and get away in a chopper. I got in another chopper to give chase. Eventually I was able to bang into their blades and I enjoyed a nice hearty laugh as they plummeted from the sky to their certain death.

This part simply isn't so. The plane literally disappears from the hangar until you leave and come back.
Then do the dune buggy one.
I do. You can do one of each and that's it.
I've done the smuggling missions once, but for some reason whenever I go back to the hangar neither the dune buggy nor the plane has respawned. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the SP game so maybe they're just locked again until I reach a certain stage?
