Now this is funny, right here.Who would he pinchrun for ARod then?89 MPH cripple pitch and all he can do is pop it up
####### useless.
Would rather start Melky in right and Gardner in center.

Not really, as most of us were first-guessing them while we watched. Not saying it isn't entertaining for you guys to see us upset, just that it's not like we're sitting here complaining JUST because something didn't work out. We're complaining because Mike Scioscia made one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen in an LCS, and about 20 minutes later that one wasn't even the worst move of the inning.Entertaining to see all the yankee fans pissing, moaning & second guessing every move made in the game.

some managerial moves look dumb in retrospect because they didn't work out, while others are just plain from the get-go. Last night's game had a lot of the latter kind.whoknew said:Michael Brown said:Not really, as most of us were first-guessing them while we watched. From the decision to pull Lackey through the end of the game - that was like each manager trying to out-dumb the other. It was amazing.Very entertaining, though. I can't wait for tomorrow.
good idea. im not a fan of benching guys just cuz theyre in a slump. reeks of panicking. id stick with swish but thats just meHere's one for Joe; why not give Hairston a start in RF against the lefty Saunders. Gives the Yanks better defense out there and he can't be any worse than Swisher has been at the plate. Hairston won't be neeeded in the IF because Arod, Cano and Jeter aren't being pinch hit for.
I agree. Thats why I cant kill Joe for the move.Wasn't Burnett only at 80 pitches going into the 7th and absolutely cruising? I have a feeling you guys would have cried either way on that one. Yes, long delay and all but IIRC it was the bottom of the lineup too.
But there's been a formula in place for this team, and it's Starter to Phil to Mo. Now Phil wasn't very good either, so maybe he gives up a bunch of stuff there. But with a completely rested pen, I don't get it. Burnett wasn't exactly great all year, and I don't understand the need to steal one more inning out of him. He got lit up in the first but then settled in and did his job. Great, now let's move on and get 9 outs from two of the league's best relievers, and let's go to the World Series.I agree. I think pulling Burnett for Hughes to start the inning was the right move but I cant kill Joe for bringing him back out there is all Im saying. Saunders pitched well in game 2. It's an elimination game so Scioscia can use everybody in relief.Word is Scioscia is staying with Saunders for Game 6Thoughts?I MUCH Prefer seeing him to Weaver
Starting Saunders is absolute, utter lunacy.Word is Scioscia is staying with Saunders for Game 6Thoughts?I MUCH Prefer seeing him to Weaver
That's what everyone said about starting him in Game 2 as well. I'm right there with you that it seems crazy on the surface with so many better options, but if not for a Brian Fuentes BP fastball it would've worked wonderfully for him once already.Starting Saunders is absolute, utter lunacy.Word is Scioscia is staying with Saunders for Game 6Thoughts?I MUCH Prefer seeing him to Weaver
I don't see what Fuentes has to do with anything. Despite his inferior talents, Saunders somehow cobbled together a good start. Not so much tonight. You know it's not a good night when your starter lucks out and only gives up 3 runs over 4 innings. 5 walks against 0 K's pretty much says it all. That's what everyone said about starting him in Game 2 as well. Effing awesome. Wow, was I totally wrong about this team. Early in the season, I didn't think (a) a respectable outfield could be cobbled together, (b) that the relief pitching would be any better than mediocre, or (c.) that there would be enough starting pitching to pull us out of the inevitable slump(s). Thing I whiffed most on was thinking this team didn't have any heart or grit. Dead wrong on all counts.Amazing season. Now the defending champs. Ugh. Can't wait, though.
