*** Official Indefinite Cincinnati Bengals Thread *** Who had "Bengals completely incompetent offense" on their bingo card? (2 Viewers)

I love the pick, Mims would probably be a top 5 pick if he went back to Georgia. Still gonna get the pick of the litter of nose tackles in the second.

Would like to see the Bengals trade up to get Newton.
Id just wait let the draft come to us, would probably grab DT Ruke Orhorhoro. We need a nose, Newton isnt a nose. Sweat wouldnt be bad in the third either. No need to overpay it's a buyers market for DTs.

two TEs really? can someone explain to me. all i’ve heard is all may start out on IR, then wtf did we draft him to begin with?

There are always picks that confuse me ... I usually kind of chalk it up as "late picks are not critical, and whoever is making the picks knows something that I don't, or has a certain reason in mind ..."

Lol I never heard of em either but saw the tape and the write ups on him :)

The only tricky thing is they haven't drafted any pure guard so I don't know if there is sufficient competition for Volson coming into the year.

Very boom/bust kind of picks.

I didn't realize we had so few guy under contract - even with the 10 draft picks the Bengals still have room for a dozen and a half UDFAs (though I assume a couple street free agents will probably come our way as well when the draft dust settles.

Schedule out!

Boy, finishing last in the division despite the decent record felt bad, but it sure helps now. Our three variable games are vs Patriots, at Panthers, at Titans. Not necessarily easy, no. But we don't play the Bills, Dolphins, Texans, or Jaguars.

Division opponents: 6 winning records, 0 losing records (68-34)
Other opponents: 3 winning records, 8 losing records (77-110)

I love that we go to Arrowhead week 2. I feel like last few years we have to wait until late in the season for most of the big test games. (ETA: Please take preseason more seriously this year 🙏)

5 primetime games:
Week 3 Monday night vs Commanders
Week 6 Sunday night at Giants
Week 10 Thursday night at Ravens
Week 14 Monday night at Cowboys
Week 16 Thursday night vs Browns

Don’t like 4 games in 18 days in December, and I hate Amazon Prime games and there’s two of those, but if we don’t go 1-32 in divisional games there should be every opportunity to do well with that schedule.

Was hoping we would have a real preseason this year after all the slow starts lately. Guess not. But, maybe the slow starts had more to do with Burrow always being recovering from injury/surgery this time of year.

I don't have info other than Moss being listed as the starter on unofficial depth charts, but my opinion is Chase Brown is significantly better at making plays. Of course whoever gets the touches is the one to have. As a Bengals fan, I want to see the ball in Brown's hands more often than Moss's.

What can Brown do for you?

What do y'all think about the run game for week one?

I feel like CIN will put the game away in the first half and then just run? I'm thinking of benching Higgins in favor of Chase Brown. I feel like it's possible the two biggest fantasy point totals for CIN will be Moss and and Chase?

This week for sure, no Higgins and no Chase.

Who is Joe going to throw to?!?!?

0-4 at home now. Leaving the stadium was as much angst about this team as I’ve heard in a long time. People want a DC change and widespread changes.

I want to build around QB and WR as much as anybody, but there is a threshold we need to get to with the run game/defense to at least make them passable. We basically never get stops and have to pass on 3rd/4th and 1. Thats how you can miss the playoffs with the #1 passing offense by most metrics.

There is still time and we’re still relatively healthy, but the margin has run out and it’s getting frustrating.

Start with ownership
Continue with bad drafts
Bad in free agency
Bad with signing players and those they don't resign
Terrible play calling
Joe is human, he is not Jesus

DC Anarumo is not the problem.

Thanks for bumping this thread, I haven't had the motivation to locate it lol .......

We need better defense, I think we can all agree on that.

My thoughts...
The defense had one great half and one terrible half.
Burrow played his worst game since week 1 in a big spot.
Zac really messed up the analytics stuff.
@Chargers is one of the hardest games on the schedule right now.
McPherson is killing us this year.

Overall, this team is only any good if the great players play great and they didn't. Burrow and company had chances to ice the game and they didn't. I think all his escapes and big off script plays have broken his brain a little. He's creating pressure for himself constantly and running into defenders when he has a clean pocket. It would be nice if the defense was better, but they're not and it isn't changing. It's more realistic to think Burrow can carry the team much more than to think bad players can play well. He just needs to find the right balance between keeping plays alive and making something happen vs trying to do that on every single snap even when the play is blocked well and guys are open.

Will the Brown family spend the money and execute the right cap gymnastics to keep this team together and even add to the talent pool?

That part worries me watching from afar.

I would guess not, but they will pay the 2 difference makers so this team will continue to be in the mix as long as Burrow/Chase are there.

Good enough to not be good enough.

All the close but no cigar games hide the reality that their four wins so far are:
Carolina (3-7)
Giants (2-8)
Las Vegas (2-8)
Cleveland (2-8)

Logically looking at the last 6 games we'll bear the 3 bad teams (Tennessse Dallas Cleveland) and lose the 2 Pittsburgh games and the Denver game and finish a very deserved 7-10.

With an extra week to prepare what we liked to call the dead cat bounce could happen if they find a way to bear Pittsburgh (that way is going to be generating net positive turnovers) which could give a mirage of hope at 8-7 going into the last 2.

The draft misses have been what is killing the team though. Like I would love to keep Tee and Chase but $150m for 3 players isn't sustainable without draft success. As good as Tee plays when he is out there if we had locked him up long term before the season ...we would be 4-7. What hurts is that Burton's skill and Yoshi's work ethic aren't combined into one young receiver.

The issue isn't spending cap dollars - to hey do that - they just do straightforward accounting and don't put bucks up front outside of Joey B.
Anyway more later.

Sad to think that with all Burrow has done, his regular season record is now below what Dalton's was with the Bengals. Talk about having to carry a team on his shoulders.

I know they have addressed the problem but they need to keep addressing it. Fix that O line or Burrow will need fixing. And it also doesn't help when Brown keeps running into a brick wall.

Agreed. It's better. But still horrible. Among Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees, you have 57 seasons (with at least 7 games played), and only one season with a sack rate at 6% or higher (Brady's first real season). For Joe Burrow, you have 5 seasons, and 6.2% is his lowest sack rate yet. Rodgers and Roethlisberger have more comparable all-time rates to Burrow, but still not very close. Have to fix it.

Lou Anarumo fired. Not sure he was the problem. Maybe Zac should have his team ready to play before week 4.

Average point differential per game (win-loss record)

Chiefs: +3.5 (15-2)
Bengals: +2.2 (9-8)

Bengals must be worshipping Baal.

(Okay, yeah, this is skewed by the Chiefs playing their backups in week 17.)

The coaching changes they made were the right ones. Wish Lou good lucky in Indy but we needed a fresh start. Liking the Al Golden hire a lot.
