*Official* - Jeremy Langford (1 Viewer)

Bears coach John Fox was critical of Jeremy Langford's performance Week 1.
If Mike Clay does not RT this headline on Twitter, we will be disappointed. "Well, I think we blocked up some runs pretty well," Fox said. "That’s not an easy defense to run against, but I think there were some yards there, yards after the carry, I mean, yards after contact." Langford gained just 57 yards on 17 carries (3.35 YPC) against Houston after averaging just 3.6 yards per carry as a rookie. Langford will always struggle to create yards on his own, but he remains the clear lead back in Chicago. That said, it is fair to wonder how long that lasts if the running game continues to struggle.

I don't think you will be saying that after the Philly game. Houston is tough to run against. You probably think the same thing about AP and Gurley after week 1 too..Can't stand people making assumptions after 1 week of play. If the guy sucks after week 3 or 4.then he's a bum. I think you will see a diff Langford this week!
  You need to pay more attention.   Bears fan.  I watch all of their games.  I doubt you do or you wouldn't be mentioning Gurley or ADP

I've been really down on him but he's going to get the ball a lot and he has a qb with a big arm and multiple big wrs to stretch the field with.  And he's running behind kyle Long.   Maybe he's going to be ok.
Nope.  Should've stuck with your first instinct,  moron.

Yeah not a good night sans the TD.  Really was hoping to see this guy in the pass game more, but he only has six targets and three catches for 12 yards over the first two weeks.  No bueno.

What are your guys take on the Coach goin on about his performance..

Was he just talking about what hes thinking, and knows he seen better in practice?

Or Do you figure hes addressing the situation with his coachs

Sadly Im not so sure Ive seen an improvement

Ive already started chasing the starter per say by rostering Jordon Howard..

I guess its only been two games, and I just may need to relax some..

Technically I havnt really watched enough of Langford to really have an honest take

How about now? He's in serious danger of losing his job. The coach calls him out after a single game, I assume to motivate him, and then he comes out and lays an egg and fumbles on top of that.

Defcon 4. (((((( Jordan Howard white courtesy phone )))))))))

I think he's toast.   I own this guy in dynasty and so I'm  :( .   But the way he looked the last two weeks, hard not to think that the end of his career as an NFL starter has already arrived,

Jordan howard looked bigger and faster.. Kadeem carey got injured i believe. If u have deep redraft bench maybe add howard now

I don't think Howard is much of a pass catcher which would severely limit his upside.  Anybody with any knowledge on this?

if dummy loggins would have committed to the run last night it was there to be had.  i'd have to agree that langford is shaping up to be a 10-15 touch RB on a bad offense.  Fox was clear in comments before game 2 that he felt langford missed some holes week 1... so as a punishment Carey got the 1st 2 drives... then with carey dinged they finally run howard out there and he found success.

Interesting article or comment if you will from Nick Mensio via rotoworld:

Langford is averaging a pitiful 3.0 YPC and has yet to break a single tackle on 31 touches, according to Pro Football Focus. His 0.0 Elusive Rating is worse than gray-beards Frank Gore (6.6) and Chris Johnson(11.1). For comparison’s sake, David Johnson is No. 1 in Elusive Rating with a score of 158.6.

That was the knock on Langford last year - not being an efficient runner and not breaking tackles. Clearly it's still an issue that Fox is not happy about.

There were more than a few pundits who mentioned this concern awhile back in the offseason. One example is below:

Nice article. I wish I had read that August 27th. I bought into him hook, line, and sinker. My bench is pretty loaded but feel I should add Howard now before the non owners sniff this out. Would it be shark to drop Langford for him or is that a little too much of a preemptive strike?

Figured Langford for the full time gig.   Not a super stud but in PPR very adequate.  I'm officially worried.

I wouldn't drop Langford at all - maybe he'll improve. Best to have both of those guys and see how the backfield progresses.

Has anyone actually seen the blocking in front of Langford?  He was getting hit as soon as he got the hand off a few times.  That's going to kill the average and elusive rating.

yeah and it also appeared (through my goggles) that the line oerked up for Howard

Safe to say your in the camp of Langford at the least being a part of rbbc

He'll still have value in standard leagues even if he starts losing some carries. He is a monster around the goal line. Going back to last year.

Not even close.  Guessing you're not a Bears fan.  Cutler could be gone.  Not other 2
Who are they going to beat? Do they play the Browns? Maybe the Lions gift them one or if they play the Rams/9ers... through two weeks they are in the bottom four teams in the league, IMO. Getting smoked by a rookie QB at Soldier Field is not a good look.

Trade him. Why would u drop a starting nfl rb.

Am picking up the rookie Howard (don't own Langford but figured this was as good as any spot to discuss). Think Howard will start to get some run here soon, Langford has looked terrible and Carrey isn't doing anything.

True. If I don't do it now, I won't be able to after the first quarter on Sunday night. I think that's when Chicago begins to pull the plug if he's still plodding along.
Futz did ya see him look good in some games last year?

My memory can be sketchy at times

But I swear that I recall thinking he could handle the load, and do okay at times

I believed that he would be a bellcow who just had bad games from time to time

Im watching this Season, and got my brain searching for answers

The defense so hungry their reading the plays that good  (I dunno)

Its possible just a slow start

If the Defense can step up some, it would allow for more rushing

It would be nice to see a good game this week..

p.s.  The thought is crossing to say add/drop, but I just aint seen enough to really even consider it..  I put Langford in my lineup too  If he has any chance of burning me in conversing?  Hes gonna burn my Fantasy team too dam it

I'm not saying they're good right now

I know, I'm not trying to pile on. It's just not unrealistic for this team to be bad to a point where there is very little chance of people retaining jobs is all I'm saying.
I agree they shouldn't be this bad.  Hoping it turns around quickly but this is basically an entire new team who hasn't played together long.  They're not going to fire everyone after the second year.  Gotta give them more than that.  Team was completely devoid of talent when Pace and Fix arrived.  Gonna take some time.

I remember seeing his final #s when he subbed in for Forte in 2015 thinking wow, pretty darn good. I made a mental note, bought into some preseason #s/ hype and voila, a midround misfire is born. It appears obvious now that it was just situational volume.

I've been watching him intently now and this guy hits his designated hole (good or bad) and falls down.

I tried to sell yesterday and got laughed at. I also had Howard sniped from me and I'm going to be left with an urn of Langford ashes at the end of this. Abandon ship.

The bigger picture is the Bears offense is a giant dumpster fire......the O line stinks.....Cutler still stinks....Kevin white?

I dont think Langford is great, but he's not the problem...

You must not be watching the games.  Of course he's not the only problem.  He's still terrible and about to lose his job to a 5th round rookie

I usually have an itchy trigger finger and am trying to improve my patience in holding players, but Langford has become this seasons roster member that I'm looking squarely at as a possible drop.

Maybe im mad or maybe it depends what situation people are in. I have a gamut of RB depth but am about to lose Williams' production next week ( Williams, McCoy, Jennings, Bernard, Langford, Crowell ).

The temptation is to drop Langford who it looks like will be mired with a low ceiling, for Booker who could become an instant RB1 if Anderson went down.

Trade activity in this league is minimal which compounds the situation.

Anybody else at this point ?

I watched the game against the eagles, and that offense the Bears put on the field, if you could call it that, was embarrassing.

I was a believer in here leading up to the season.

After watching him actually play week 1 I immediately sold him for a top-5 1st next year (devy weakened). I was a little nervous about it, but he looked pedestrian.

Now I'm ecstatic, because he looks awful and I managed to sell pretty high I think.

Good luck to his remaining owners. The potential workload was so enticing, but he's not catching any of the cheap passes I thought he would.

Yea, I went WR heavy early.  Have/had Jennings, Langford, Crowell, R. Mathews, Woodhead for RBs.

It's a complete cluster right now.  Other teams are having problems too so don't despair.

Whatever anyone think is making him put up poor numbers doesn't mean a lot.  He's still putting up terrible numbers.  After watching him this year and last,  the guy cannot break a tackle and isn't targeted in the pass game.  Loggains is an absolute moron.
