Official Johnny Manziel Thread (2 Viewers)

John Clayton did a clip where he says Johnny will likely be gone next year, trade him for a 5th or 6th rounder, maybe to Dallas and then Browns will draft a qb in round 1
if Petine is gone, Manziel is gone. You're not bringing in a top coaching candidate telling him he's saddled with Manziel as his QB. No one wants to deal with that sideshow. Not for such minimal production.
Are you under the impression that Haslam is going to be able to bring in a top coaching candidate regardless of Manziel's status?

People having outrage at a man of the legal drinking age having a (1) 4loco and (2)filming himself (3) singing/rapping?

Oh, the horror. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Those are 3 embarrassing things for anyone. Manziel, Brady, or any other person on this planet, football player, or not.
So you are outraged over him doing something embarrassing?

I am amazed at how ridiculous any news regarding JF is. Actually I am not. Lotta of stupid people out there that enjoy stuff like the Kardashians
Unfortunately, one of those stupid people is his coach, who is trying to figure out if this punk is ever going to grow up and possibly become a decent quarterback. And considering that coach really only has one thing he's asking Manziel to do, it appears Johnny Beerbong is the real stupid one here.
Yes Pettine is stupid. He needs (needed) to do everything he could to WIN GAMES. He is getting fired. So yes, Pettine is stupid if he at any point in the last month did something that was not in the best interest of getting a win.
lol. What have you possibly seen from Manziel to make you think he gives anyone the best chance to win? Is it the 40% completion percentage last week? Or the 297 yards passing he has in the last two COMBINED? He's not only an immature drunk, he's also a bad quarterback.
As an Eagles fan I know you're overly qualified to critique bad quarterback play but you do realize this is Cleveland, right? How many quarterbacks have look good in a Browns uniform, 3?Otto, Kosar and Sipe.
that's about all I can think of, too. They should cut Manziel and go with McCown. And draft a qb.
You just want that to happen so he can go to my Cowboys! Even crazier is I actually want him to sit behind Romo for two more years.
Says the guy who loves and defends Greg Hardy's treatment of women.
I don't know what your problem is... I never defended Greg Hardy. You flew off the handle just because I said the time to be outraged at the Greg Hardy signing was in the summertime and not when the media decided it was important to you. Only when the media re-introduced it to your attention during the Monday night game did you start your little tirade on this board.

So because I have no control over the Cowboys front office you said that I am the worst kind of person and an enabler of woman abusers.

How about you give me your grief in the Cowboys thread or PM instead of hijacking this thread.

I disagree.

You give the coach the ball here. He can watch tapes, talk to Manziel, talk to his friends on the team, find out facts and let the new coach decide.

New coach is hired soon, draft is 4-5 months away. There's time.

With the "new" contract system, Manziel doesn't affect the cap too much so he won't matter to the GM too too much initially.

The Browns have a top(ish) pick so they will evaluate all QBs anyway. The coach taking time to evaluate Manziel, won't affect much.

What usually happens is like the Mariota Mettenberger controversy that wasn't. Whis about fell in love with Mariota.

Let's see Goff and whomever else the new Browns coach talks to.

Don't they coach in the senior bowl against Titans coaches? That's invaluable exposure to the college kids.

The only immediate thing is getting a coach. After, it should be his call. McCown is still a decent solid NFL veteran. They should be covered if they make a poor decision or even if they want some new rook to sit a year and axe Manziel.

The Browns have 8000 players to evaluate, the QB is one of a zillion issues on that team. Tom Brady wasn't winning the Supe there, let's not act like Manziel was the make or break toward a ring.

I think some of their WRs were more opportunistic than good. They're about to lose a right tackle in FA IIRC and maybe their C. 7 (?) picks might not be enough to fill all the holes. It's much more than just Manziel

I think it is pretty obvious that if a new coach WANTS Manziel, they will keep him.

I am pretty sure Junior was not saying that Manziel would be gone no matter what, just that they would not FORCE Johnny on a new coach.

I don't think that's obvious at all. Owner could be fed up w/ Manziel's antics and ready to start over.

Which brings us back to the point where some TOP coaching candidate isn't coming here if Johnny if going to be forced on them...............unless they WANT Johnny. And if they WANT Johnny, they won't come here if the owner FORCES Johnny out.

I think that is as obvious as it gets

This is a thread about Manziel. Manziel is a degenerate. You came on and said you want this degenerate on the team you and I root for. I responded that this should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, given your defense of Hardy that you would want Manziel as a degenerate to root for. It's a little too late to start back-pedaling now; you defended Hardy in earnest, saying, among other idiotic things in the Cowboys thread after the pictures surfaced, that "women are crazy as ####" and suggesting in your defense of Hardy the lunatic idea that Holder's injuries may have been self-inflicted...which is just so insanely dumb to even think in the privacy of your own brain, let alone verbalize...let alone write for public consumption.

Nothing I said there defends Hardy. You're a complete moron and now youre borderline crazy.

I have to go now. My wife is taking too long in the kitchen with those sandwiches. You know what happens when they don't listen.

Johnny Manziel not at FirstEnergy for #Browns game. Didn't have to be here b/c concussion, spokesman told http://cleveland.com this a.m

To be fair, not sure Johnny can/should be at the game while on concussion protocol. Depends on what docs recommend

I seriously think Manziel is now trying to force his release because he knows Jerry wants him in Dallas.

#Browns do not know if Johnny Manziel was in Vegas on Saturday. Last they know, he came to the facility for treatment on Saturday morning

Lol. Even if it was optional for him to be at the game, wouldn't you think he'd choose to be? When every question about him centers around his maturity and ability to lead? Perhaps the dumbest guy in the league.

I think Johnny Football will be a Dallas Cowboy next year. Cleveland is fed up with him and Jerry Jones has no problems taking in problem children.

Get him out of Cleveland. I want this thug nowhere near Josh Gordon.
Josh Gordon's future among questions facing the Cleveland Browns this offseasonExcerpt:

Can the Browns count on Josh Gordon? The Browns' void in playmakers was glaring all season. Had Gary Barnidge not stepped forward, it's scary to think where points would have come from. The easy answer is to believe that Gordon can return from his ban, earn reinstatement and be the player he was in 2013. Gordon worked hard in the offseason and trained diligently while maintaining a friendship with Manziel. But therein is the red flag — two players with off-field issues seem to have become somewhat codependent. And the way Gordon acted on and off the field in 2014 and 2015 should have the Browns leery they can count on him. Gordon was suspended for 10 games in 2014, then had one good game before playing listlessly and in a mental fog for four games before he was suspended for the season finale. He followed that with a season-long suspension that requires him to apply for reinstatement. There's no guarantee that will happen, just as there is no guarantee Gordon will stay clean if he is reinstated. The Browns are in a unique position of needing to count on a player with Gordon's immense skills, but also needing to start over without players who bring the off-field baggage Gordon carries.

I would be beyond shocked if the new coach wanted to roll with Manziel as his QB. Way to risky. And far safer to tell everyone that they need a new QB to build around. Then you draft Lynch or Goff whichever you think makes you a better team over the next 3-5 years. You can't go in with Manziel because of the off field stuff. It's like playing Russian roulette with your QB. Sooner or later a bullet will wind up in the chamber...

JFF1: Reported this on @SNFonNBC re Manziel: Browns require players in concussion protocol to be seen by team medic at 9 am on Sunday …

Peter King@SI_PeterKing 48m48 minutes ago
JFF2: … even if they’re not playing. Manziel didn’t show up Sunday. Browns couldn’t reach him on phone. At this point I can tell you …

Peter King@SI_PeterKing 48m48 minutes ago
JFF3: … Browns are so done with the guy. I will be stunned if he ever plays another snap for Cleveland. He wants to go to Dallas.

Team should sue him for breach of contract plus punitive damages. He has done everything possible to orchestrate being released and the team should take not sit back and take it.

Jeez, now he showed up drunk to the browns facility:

ESPN Cleveland's Bruce Hooley was told by colleague Tony Grossi that Johnny Manziel showed up to the Browns' facility "disheveled and inebriated" earlier in the week.

Why didnt Grossi report this himself?

Wouldn't this qualify for the NFL Drug/Alcohol Abuse program, or does he need to fail a drug test first? If I showed up to work inebriated, you can best believe I would be sent for drug testing immediately. Did Pettine, or anyone within the Browns Org follow-thru with this step?

Dammit he is going to be a cowboy
After this latest drunken episode, do you think there's any chance that even Jerry Jones doesn't think the distraction is worth the tiny bit of talent?
After drafting an o-lineman that went to the pro bowl as a rookie on a team that was among the best rushing teams in the league and came within a crazy non-catch call of making the NFC championship game Jerry was still bemoaning the fact that he passed on Manziel. Now they had a season where they lost their QB and went 3-13. They need a backup and Jerry thinks Manziel is a difference maker.

I am certain Jerry will do this. not a doubt in my mind. In fact, he may pay Johnny more than the Browns were.

In November of this year he talked about drafting a QB "if a great one falls, like Roethlisberger or Manziel"

How anyone (other than intentionally blind Browns fans who were understandably praying for the best) could use the word "great" about Johnny Football as late as November 2015 is beyond me.

We won't even talk about putting him in the same class as Roethlisberger.

Hell, Johnny should aspire to be Cousins.

But recently, hasn't his son been talking him out of his crazy moves and leaning toward being better at personnel moves than Jerry historically had been? It's not like he's been setting the world on fire when he's gotten the starts. 40% completion percentage in his last game. There are plenty of terrible quarterbacks in the league. But a terrible quarterback who is also a distraction just doesn't seem worth the roster spot. I know Jerry loves media attention, and Manziel will give him that, but the risk-to-reward ratio seems horrible in this case.

I agree with all of this. Stephen and his crew did talk Jerry off the Manziel ledge once, i just don;t see them doing it again. I think in Jerry's mind if the Cowboys have Johnny they are on their way to a potential super Bowl title this season

i think the kid is a mess

If at the end of all this, Manziel gets what he wants and lands with Dallas, then the pattern of his poor decisions/behavior being ignored or even rewarded will just continue on, and his accountability will remain pinned at zero.

Correct!

But at least he'll have good citizens like Dez Bryant and Greg Hardy to keep him in line....
