Official Johnny Manziel Thread (1 Viewer)

Manziel graded out higher than McCown...and it wasn't close.

Let's not pretend that's an apples to apples comparison.
graded out? Do you mean coming out of college?
Yes, by NFL teams for the NFL draft.
I thought the discussion was about how long he'd be in football. Who cares about how he played against college students.
Draft grades are based on a player's NFL ability.
You must be that fantasy owner who is offered Alan Robinson for Demarco Murray in week 4 and says 'No way, Murray was my first round pick!'

Who cares about draft grades?? They are guesses of what he'd do on the next level. They now KNOW how he does on the next level. You still high on Tim Couch and Heath Shuler?
My point is that it is misleading to state Manziel is a below average talent. Many NFL GMs and talent evaluators do not believe that.

Whether or not he'll realize his potential is a more honest question.

For the record, I think he'll be a viable QB someday. There's a decent chance he'll grow out of this party phase and realize his potential. Obviously far from a slam dunk, perhaps he'll never get out of it...it's obviously difficult to know with certainty.

If I'm the Cowboys I'd be buying low on Manziel big time.

A grade doesn't mean #### when a player runs himself out of the league due to his behavior, or in the every least, drastically shortens his window of opportunity (e.g. while those physical tool ratings are still relevant) because of that behavior. See one Justin Blackmon. What good is his draft grade doing him these days?
I don't see Johnny's issues being as severe as Blackmon's...but it's definitely a possibility that they are and a valid point.

Not me. He's not intelligent enough to read defenses and he never gets past his first progression before taking off in a panic. I think he could be a backup in Canada maybe.

Jesus Christ dude they are about 10x worse. Showing up drunk to team hq, driving and drinking, hitting a girl, missing practice because you are passed out, flying out the day before a game to party, doing blow, extended stay in rehab......I could go on and on

A grade doesn't mean #### when a player runs himself out of the league due to his behavior,
I guess we can have that discussion when we get there...we are not remotely close to there.
He was benched in his 2nd year for failure to follow team directives regarding his drinking, after going to rehab his first year. Not remotely close? What would it take for you to say a player is 'remotely close' to being unrosterable by an NFL team due to lifestyle decisions?AND... at the end of his second year (after being reinstalled as starter) lied to his team about where he was/what he was doing, used an alias to booze it up in Vegas and missed a team scheduled appointment.

when there is no demand for him

No, that wouldn't be 'remotely close.' That would be something like, I don't know, assuredly certain.

if by "remotely close" you mean a season then I would agree with you. He pulls the same shenanigans on another team next year whether its Dallas or whoever then the kid is done. Kaput.
perhaps
Let me guess....Texas A&M alum? Or Manziel's cousin? Even the big mouths who were tooting Johnny Crackpipe's horn all year have abandoned the thread. At this point, most people are hoping he straightens out before he ends up dead. No one is thinking of an NFL career anymore.

Vince Young and Jamarcus Russel got second chances years after failing as starting NFL QBs.

Johnny hasn't even failed yet and we are ready to say his career is near to over.

Cmon fellas.

He hasn't failed yet? What the hell type of grade would you give him for his first two seasons in the NFL? Guess what....the grade is a big fat F!

You seem to be missing out on one key element of this....Johnny's off field issues, antics and behavior.

Not true, several NFL analysts have stated Johnny showed significant improvement and promise this year...as did his coaches.

Yet it appears he is done in Cleveland and there isn't expected to be much demand for him. Again, you are missing out on his off field antics, and his lack of commitment as an NFL quarterback.

So what grade would you give him?

Yeah, his 'big game' was the 300 yards in a 20+ point loss to Pittsburgh where he threw for 300 yards and led his team to NINE WHOLE POINTS. He then had three starts at the end of the year and had one ok one (against the 27th rated pass defense of the Niners) and two disasters. Including his epic 40% completion percentage in his last start. Add to that all his off the field lunacy, and he's an undisputable bust.

The team with the worst quarterback situation in the league doesn't want him. That speaks volumes.

I'm pretty sure Johnny or RGIII will be in Dallas. Apparently both want to go there.

I'm guessing RGIII signs w/the Texans. I'd choose Johnny over RGIII 100/100 times.

We shall see.
:lmao:
Actually he's the one laughing. He's been trolling you guys and you just keep jumping all over him. He's subtle, yet obvious. Not sure why no one seems to be catching on.
No...we are laughing....because no matter what he looks foolish. Trolling on a message board is the lowest and most pathetic forms of existence on the internet. If anyone gets off doing that they have serious issues.

Want to take a guess at how many times you have made specific predictions on Manziel being cut over the last 2 seasons?

Are you even aware of your own history here?

Your post would carry way more weight if you were new here. But since you aren't, even you know probably a full third of all posts on this site are trolling.

Yep...and that's why this forum has gone downhill.

I think there is a less than 5% chance RGIII signs with the Texans. I don't know what the Texans are going to do about QB, but RGIII just does not seem like an O'Brien type of QB.

Hackenberg
Possibly. O'Brien needs to hook his wagon to a QB who is not a back-up/retread and go from there.

The playoff team? No. Not that I'm aware of.

Sounds like Johnny has disappeared. Apparently Bernie Kosar has been trying to get a hold of him but Johnny won't respond. No one else seems to know where he is.

Why the hell would you want this clown on your team?

So, my 3yo loves the song "shut up and dance with me". So I put it on youtube so he could listen to it. Holy crap, now I know what JFF has been up to.

Not returning Bernie Kosar's phone calls doesn't mean you've disappeared, it could easily mean you are exercising good judgement.

I don't know if he's disappeared but no one seems to know where he's at. According to reports he hasn't been in is home for a while and has a friend staying there. No one has heard from him since he skipped the last game and medical protocol for his concussion and went to Vegas.

Why do we want to know where he is? How do you know no one has heard from him? Are you keeping tabs on the location of any other NFL players during their off season? Borderline creepy.

I know where he's not going to be pretty soon! Looks like the new HC is ready to move on. Get ready Jerry!! He's gonna be all yours in 2016!!

You ask good questions. I was told Hue made it clear he'd want to move on from Johnny.
