They then had him try to hit a target with a football with the distorted vision. Fast forward to the day he threw his shoulder pads into the stands, or when he ran off and nobody could find him and you see that the same behavior carried forward into the NFL.

If the story is true about how mad Johnny gets when failing at golf, we potentially have a similar situation with Johnny. I will be very interested to see how he reacts if he does not play well. It's easier to handle pressure when everything is going well, it is not so easy when adversity strikes.

I could see how partying may not reflect how he will play or who he is as a leader, but what information do we have coming out about how he is performing and preparing?

Longtime Browns beat writer Tony Grossi got a radio program but during the NFL 'dead-time' after OTAs and prior to training camp he took off on vacation and had Bud Shaw fill-in for him last week on the show.

Shaw isn't thought of much as a serious journalist but he has connections and he knows much more than he lets on but he let slip with a great football take on Johnny Manziel in this podcast.

There is nothing to show whether his attitude will or will not affect his performance, but I think it's pretty safe to say everyone here knows someone who has some ability to be successful but pissed it away because they didn't apt themselves as much as they could have. Now project that onto a 1st round draft pick who intentionally puts himself into spots where at the very least he uses questionable judgment, and add the media whore angle (and his temerity to whine about the attention he's getting) and you've got yourself a very questionable character and a topic for discussion.

If he performs well and this is only offseason nonsense that doesn't carry into the regular season, it will soon be forgotten. But right now all anyone sees is that he continues to be a clown show - of his own choice. So that's what people talk about, speculating whether it will affect his NFL career.

If you look at Johnny's social media trail and timeline, there's no doubt that Johnny has been manufacturing and spoon feeding the media circus like a slick politician. Too many photos "leaked", too many appearances at showy Las Vegas nightclubs to think he was ever trying to enjoy life incongnito. He lives for the limelight. He's his own PR firm. And he means to show all the haters and "get off my lawn types" that he will take the league be storm his own way.

As a matter of principle I don't understand how Cleveland fans can defend him. If he ever does take the league by storm, he'll be doing it to further his own self-glorification. It will have nothing to do with honoring his teammates or the city of Cleveland. It's all about feeding the JFF franchise. You schumcks are just along for the ride. All most Browns fans care about is winning football games, something that hasn't happened in a very long time. Until he does stuff that impacts the Browns winning football games the majority of Browns fans either don't seem to give a #### about what is going on right now or they're just being drowned out by the Republican National Convention, Gordon, and LeBron. However, I think Ben's offseason shenanigans on motorcycles, bathrooms at college bars, continuing to question Steelers management about the guys they bring in year after year, etc. are much more problematic than anything Johnny has done the last few weeks. If you have a problem with anything he's doing then you have a problem with what most players do in this league.

If you look at Johnny's social media trail and timeline, there's no doubt that Johnny has been manufacturing and spoon feeding the media circus like a slick politician. Too many photos "leaked", too many appearances at showy Las Vegas nightclubs to think he was ever trying to enjoy life incongnito. He lives for the limelight. He's his own PR firm. And he means to show all the haters and "get off my lawn types" that he will take the league be storm his own way.

As a matter of principle I don't understand how Cleveland fans can defend him. If he ever does take the league by storm, he'll be doing it to further his own self-glorification. It will have nothing to do with honoring his teammates or the city of Cleveland. It's all about feeding the JFF franchise. You schumcks are just along for the ride. Johnny Football is the main act, the rest are just the help. His act is starting to wear thin on a lot of hard working teammates who understand what kind of grind an NFL season is and are how much work and dedication it takes to make the opening day roster. I'm surprised more Cleveland fans aren't ticked off by Johnny's very public lifestyle. I know I'd be.

Exactly. I disagree with MAC that the media is manufacturing this - it's Manziel. If he'd been drafted, stayed out of public eye and off social media then the media would have nothing to report on.

Im regretting drafting this guy in 2 rookie drafts. Seems immature and that he doesnt take football very serious. The key is getting guys like Jerry Rice and Larry Fitzgerald who live football and strive to be the best and constantly are trying to improve. I just dont think Manziel cares enough. Hes probably happy with his college career and has fame, has money, and now its time to have fun. I just want to see how he reacts when he struggles with the NFL

If you feel that strongly, prepare a case study of reasonable comps and then attempt to put JFF into the 1% percentile of mental toughness. And then extrapolate or attempt to extrapolate from college adversity and pressure to the pros. Should be easy right? You must have at least 99 hard core mental cases to compare. I'll wait.
