Official Johnny Manziel Thread (2 Viewers)

So true.RT @TomPelissero:I love that one game can change the panic point from WILL BRIAN HOYER RE-SIGN to IS BRIAN HOYER STILL YOUR STARTER?

Scott Petrak ct@ScottPetrak HYPERLINK "/ScottPetrak/status/524293897804345344"HYPERLINK "/hashtag/Browns?src=hash"#Browns Pettine on QB Hoyer: Not going to hit panic button after 1 loss. "Brian is still firmly our starter."

Ashoka Moore @AshokaESPN · 15h 15 hours ago

Laughable people are wondering if Hoyer should be benched. He did just lose his Pro Bowl center last week. That's a huge adjustment.

Crazy how quickly things can change.
What amazes me is that these coaches in the NFL seems pretty bright for the most part. They get it, right? Aren't they the ones always talking about how the media over reacts and that the team knows what is REALLY happening "inside the locker room"?

So, did someone forget to memo the HC that they lost a stud among studs on their o-line last week and that could POSSIBLY have something to do with all their problems in the run game, with protection, etc this week?

Talk about over reacting.

Rotoworld:

Johnny Manziel - QB - Browns

ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi reports that internal pressure to play Johnny Manziel has "turned up considerably."

Brian Hoyer is coming off a highly-unproductive loss to the Jaguars, leading the Browns to briefly consider going to Manziel in the second half. Hoyer has been mostly solid managing Kyle Shanahan's offense prior to last week, but his leash on the starting job is now in question. It could be only a matter of time before the Browns turn to Manziel. Hoyer is in danger of getting benched if he can't move the offense against the winless Raiders.

The 'internal pressure' has been manifested from the throngs of media who are trying to create an atmosphere where Johnny Football would start but they aren't having much success even with all of the camera's that automatically turn to Manziel on the sidelines at certain key moments in games, like if Hoyer has an incompletion or the offense has a three-and-out.

Just look at the shots of Johnny on the sidelines. You can't blame the media, he's a sensation and that is all they are concerned with. Their entire agenda is just about getting or creating a story or headline. Just look at a small sample of photos of Johnny to see the media obsession:

We get it. The media has an agenda, fantasy football owners have an agenda but fans are getting tired of all of the sideline shots of Manziel but we know he's got fans and that the media wants a story and the guy is a celebrity and photogenic.

And Johnny looking the suave celebrity that he is off the field ---

Trying too hard. Awful effort here.

I take it Johnny slept with your significant other?

That's a whole lotta effort of hate.

:oldunsure:
Lighten up Frances. I haven't got anything against Johnny.

And trying too hard is exactly what the media is doing, their agenda is too obvious. Hoyer has a bad play, cue the camera we have on Johnny. Is Johnny doing anything on the sidelines that will make a headline? What he's smiling when the Browns are down in a game, zoom in ZOOM-IN. You can practically set your watch to the frenzied activity going on inside the producer's TV van.

Browns fans know the score and we also know that fantasy players have agendas galore.

Me? Browns fan AND A JOHNNY OWNER and I doubled down and have Hoyer but neither are starting so I have fun with the agendas.

Hater? LOL, ya you are really on top of it buddy. Farthest thing from a hater with Johnny. Just having fun, maybe you should try it sometime.

Johnny studying game tape?

No.

Wasted back at College Station only a couple of hours after big win?

Yup.

Johnny Football is Back in College Station

This is Johnny Manziel hanging out with Colleen Crowley at 1pm in Texas today. As you can see, they are not in the film room preparing for whoever the Browns play next week. In fact, it looks like they went to a restaurant for lunch. LUNCH! When will this kid learn?

The picture of him with Crowley from a week ago is taken at the same time as the picture that they say is from today. They are both wearing the same clothes and the picture is taken in front of the same brick wall.

I knew this guy had issues... but having lunch with a beautiful girl? Cut him. No room for that in today's society.

I bet Hoyer never did anything like this. I heard he doesn't even eat lunch. Man's, man.

I bet all the other QB's in the league are gay.

Seriously - name a good QB that has a hot girlfriend and would dare to eat lunch or go out with them? None, nada.... wait.

Yeah, going to the gay card where an NFL QB is wasted at 1:00 PM the afternoon after the biggest win of the year for his team?

I don't care if Johnny were gay or not.

Alcohol has been a documented problem with him in the past along with very immature privileged pampered behavior.

If Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Drew Brees or even Ryan Tannenhill were seen passed out 1,500 miles away from their NFL city hours after the biggest win of their team's season do you think people would try to defend the fact they were passed out just because some hot babe were on their arm? But if its Johnny Manziel its ok because dude can't you see that he's got some hot girl on his arm? That makes it ok, are you gay or something? Can't you see the girl?

If someone is that intimidated by hot girls they look past the fact he's wasted then they've never been with a hot girl or maybe their are gay and that's fine but I'm not all that impressed just because some girl is on his arm.

If Johnny had proven himself in the NFL and was out doing this stuff then I've got no problems with this behavior but he hasn't done deek. He's a complete unknown other than the scant preseason tape we have on him where he showed pathetic ability to deep into his reads where he could only see half of the field and he's bail on plays and where he was only facing vanilla defenses.

If people haven't followed the league they would see that the best NFL QBs don't act this way. They probably have a hell of a lot more fun than fans would suspect or know about and good for them and good for Johnny nailing as many babes as he can bag, just knock off the drunken mess at 1:00 PM hours after any game but especially after the Browns biggest win since their return.

We may need him and he's got to be ready so it would be smart to act the part of one of the best NFL QBs. Fake it till you make it because he's nowhere near one of the best NFL QBs right now and he's certainly not acting like one.

2 things in response to you Bracie:

1. You tend to ramble a lot and jump wildly from 'point' to 'point'... and I'm not 100% sure I understand much of what you said.

2. To your 'point' that I think you were trying to make regarding other QBs not doing this, I'm gonna say that yea, pretty much they do. Two super bowl winners come to mind in Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger. Lots of pics out there of them getting sloshed. You mention Brady and Manning. Those guys are older now and probably aren't partying quite as much as they were back in their younger days. And back when they were in there earlier 20s, pretty sure we didn't have the TMZs and barstoolsports of the world following these guys around tirelessly to post pics of them drinking on the internet.

Do you really want this guy in the film room at 1pm the day following their Thursday night win? dude has 10 days until their next game. How much film can he possibly watch? Do you really know what Tom Brady would be doing the Friday afternoon after a Thursday night game? I feel like you really don't have the first clue what he'd be doing.

Something about Peyton Manning's butt and a UT athletic trainers face.
Exactly. Kids do stupid things. The reason for this is their brain isn't fully developed until they're 22-25. We need to stop treating these players like they're adults, because developmentally, they're not. Hell you still see pictures of Gronk drinking straight from the bottle with no shirt on in nightclubs. Young kids with lots of money are drinking and hanging around girls and you're surprised?

There are lots of things to hate on Manziel for, but this isn't one of them.

You're absolutely right. He's a kid. Kids do stupid things.

Successful NFL starting QBs don't.

Peyton did that in college when he was a stupid kid.

If Johnny wins a Super Bowl then he can do all of the stupid things he wants just like Ben. Johnny isn't a successful starting NFL QB and that is the point.

Should he be studying film a few hours after a big win? The question is what the hell is he doing ##@% faced in a bar in College Station a few hours after a big win?

The excuse that he's a dumb kid works in college not in the NFL. He's not a tight end or some other position, he's supposed to eventually be the leader of an NFL team and he's not acting like one.

I guess I missed the part where he was reported as being "wasted" during lunch. In fact I went back and looked through the link and missed it again.

Alcohol has been a documented problem with him in the past along with very immature privileged pampered behavior.
I'm mainly concerned with his drinking since it's brought down a number of players and his own family has said he's worried about him. He's young and may eventually 'get it' but it's a red flag.

Give the dude a break, his life must be miserable right now. He gets a day or two to go back home and be with his friends because they played Thursday night, let him get wasted at lunch if he wants to. I'm sure anyone from Texas (or anywhere not Ohio for that matter) would hate being in Cleveland, especially sitting behind Brian Hoyer while he manages games to victory week after week.

Wasn't sarcastic and it came on a Browns feed that has solid stories and that link is still up but the article has been updated to say the following:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: I guess he was in College Station with Crowley a week ago, but his tweet says the “College Station reunion starts…now.” I don’t know what to believe anymore.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The intent of the source was not sarcastic, the photo came from Johnny's own twitter Instagram account dated Nov 7, 2014 and the photos run sequentially. The story ran as originally posted without the update.

The BROWNS feed that I got it from has that link unchanged they haven't caught that the source has updated the story so yeah I read the story correctly as originally posted, how terrible of me.

As I pointed out above, the picture from the week before was taken at the same time as the one dated November 7th. Same clothes, same background. Thus the one on November 7th had to be taken the week before.

what is espn doing to foosball? this thread is like the young and the restless or whatever the name of that 90s soap opera was. nothing to do w/ football just a bunch of tmz gossip

unfortunately, this is not new. Only way to change it is to stop watching. Outside of mnf I did years ago. It's been great.

I really hope that Hoyer goes down soon....

Once Johnny starts - he won't stop...

This "Hoyer Show" is a waste of time - game manager at best...

It's time to find out what Johnny has!!!!

Can't respect that part about wishing anyone gets injured but respectfully disagree with the dismissive take on Hoyer and that Johnny has to be rushed into action.

First, Hoyer is better than detractors falsely have assumed. He's a natural leader and winner. Honestly can't add anything to what he is.

Johnny came out early and was the youngest drafted rookie QB this year, he's only 21 and is still maturing. I feel he can benefit more by not being rushed into action.

He never had a playbook at A&M. He never lined up in a Pro-Set there, he had elementary reads and calls with a max of five words per call as apposed to Klye Shanahan's verbiage that has some calls with up to 17 words where each is a critical aspect of calling out protections, something else he really never did at A&M, and where he is doing a series of pre-snap reads of the defense calling out hot reads and adjusting the call between three different options, two pass-one run or two-run one pass right before the snap. Basically he is a rookie who is on overload.

Now he's probably more settled into the scheme and playbook but we don't know if he's truly progressed on reading the field let alone going more than two deep into his options before bailing on plays and using his legs.

Add in the immaturity and their isn't any downside to having him sit at least one year.

Certainly didn't hurt Aaron Rodgers who sat two/three years and I don't think Johnny is an A-Rod caliber prospect but I do think he will benefit from sitting.

Oh and I'm a Johnny owner and a Hoyer owner and a Browns fan so I'm not pushing anything other than what will benefit the player and the team and right now Hoyer is the better NFL quarterback IMHO.

Hoyer is a game manager at best...

I cannot forget his performance vs Jacksonville earlier this year - laid an egg vs a really bad defense...
