Mike's homerism towards the Pac-10 is getting near LHUCKS level.
I can't believe he was defending USC's loss to Stanford as not being a "turd"Also, his immediate dismissal of anything even loosely associated with UT is ridiculous. See his statement that Gene Chizik "has always been overrated"

Not having his little buddy there is really turning him into a grumpy old fart. I almost punched out during that segement. That show is in real trouble which is a shame because I still love Cobra and Danny.Time for a shakeup brothaaaaaa

Greggo and Mike have been coasting on reputation for a couple of years now. They may have been the foundation of the Ticket but now they're dried up shells of glory days past. Mike's innane ramblings and the Hammer's discombobulated scattershooting of thoughts are a total beating. Danny and Corby are the only things saving the 3pm slot but they are wearing thin from having to carry the load. I can only hope the Old Grey Wolf and the Hammer are on their way out. They are unlistenable 80% of the time.

BaD Radio is starting to wear thin as well. This used to be my favorite but the addition of Donnie Do appears to be nothing more than a gimmick so they can shoehorn more tense racial humor into each segment. Dan is a basically a whiny, egotistical, moody, primadonna who brings very little to the show. Donovan probably would be alright as a 3rd wheel but he's either chosen to or been led to use race as the punchline/topic of almost every segment. As is he brings nothing to the table. Bob has good sports knowledge, a humorous side, and of course the gold; 2 minute long questions during interviews where he firsts asks a question, answers it, then states all possible answers in a factual tone before allowing his befuddled guest to voice a yes or no. And c'mon, does anyone still laugh when someone says "WELLLLL, he had a swim through Cle"?

Dunham & Miller appears to be the best show right now. I don't listen until 7:45 so I miss most of it but Junior, Jub Jub, and Gordo have the best mixture. Junior cycles through phases of thoughtful debate and bathroom humor, George is the good 'ole boy who constantly has a bullseye on him, and Gordo is the anarchist who's sole job is to shoot the wheels off and tee up George, Norm, and others. Other than Junior's "rankings" these guys are pretty much comedic gold.

Norm is what he is. He's all sports all the time. Nothing flashy, highly comedic, or entertaining, but if you want reals sports talk he's the man.

And while I'm at it does anyone else notice the Dallas Cowboys colored glasses the Ticket is wearing? Over the course of the last 2 weeks all I have heard about is how great the Jedi is that he can have 6 turnovers and still win. Or how they didn't play that well against NE but were still leading in the 3rd. Or how their defense hasn't been full strength all year so watch out after the bye when Henry is back.

Is anyone worried about why they can't score in the first half, why the defense can't seem to keep good offenses under 30 points, and why they are getting so many penalties. I guess because they are winning they are just overlooking these problems.

I don't get the Norm hate. I think he's tremendously entertaining from a sports standpoint. Yeah, he doesn't bring schtick to the table, but 1310 has plenty of that already.

I wish 1310 could hire more Sturm-type guys to fill empty spots if/when they occur. He's the right blend for the station IMO and a great foundation to build a show around.

Greggo's back in Rehab - that is my guess
Agreed. A mole is telling me it is another substance this time. Did anyone listen to him over the last month? He sounded really f-ed up. I'm not sure if it's the pain pills again, but it is sounds like something. I really hope he gets the help he needs if it is a relapse. I love the show and can't take Cobra filling in as a fulltimer.

Agreed. Norm was my favorite back in the day when he did mornings. I never listened to D&M when Norm was on. Now I flip between ESPN and the Ticket. Norm's the man.

Is Rhyner still getting a divorce and living at Southside Lamar? I heard what I thought were a couple of veiled comments last week (don't recall the wording) that aluded to such goings-on.

A friend of mine had an interesting observation the other day. They were talking about that Pete Doherty ##### and someone said some thing to the effect of "How could you work with a guy that's messed up all of the time?" Then, they all agreed that they knew what it was like. I assumed they were jokingly talking about Danny, but he thought maybe they were referring to the late Greggo.

Went over my head. I thought they even played the Danny "Huh!" drop.

He's been gone 2+ weeks and they had it set up for a replacement guy today. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind he's on some sort of rehab stint. He's not married and has no young kids that would require such a bereavement leave of any consequence. I can't think of a single other thing that would require this secrecy beyond perhaps a death or some tragedy and few would keep anyone out of a job 2+ weeks like this. I mean losing your dad/mom at his age isn't exactly a stop down shock that would put anyone out 2 weeks from any job.

He's in rehab, and it's for something harder than oxycontin this time. Probably not booze. I still think prescription drugas, just not the ones he did before or he'd be back by now (unless they are firing him).

I'm calling it. Greggo is done at the ticket.

The fact that Mike is not calling it the Hardline right now leads me to believe this might be the case.If it is truly the end of the Greggo I will be disappointed. I enjoyed his broadcasting, wheels it off as it may have been.

Wow. I don't live in Dallas anymore and don't have the chance to listen much at all, but this is surprising to read about. 1310 is the first station I turn to when we head back home. It'll be strange to turn it on and not hear Greggo...

I assumed they were talking about Greggo. They all laughed a little too long for it to have been just another omfglol-Danny-is-drukn joke.

I must say that I do not miss Greggo all that much. It is odd without him but he is such a numb nut most of the time it became an irritation.

Is Rhyner still getting a divorce and living at Southside Lamar? I heard what I thought were a couple of veiled comments last week (don't recall the wording) that aluded to such goings-on.
So does the fact that Rhyner messed up Daylights savings lend credence to the divorce rumor

Is this for real? I hadn't noticed this.
He started this back last week sometime.
Holy ####! I guess Greggo has equity in it. Crazy.
Odd though that they're still liberally using Greggo drops and playing Greggo spots and promos. This is the only thing that makes me think he'll be back.

What we need is a few segments w/ Greggo from the Rehab farm via remote.

Send Corby out there to ask the girls to donate brassiers or get Gordo to spin some "What are your arm?" questions to some methadone patients.

I think the Hardline hit its high point a few years ago when they did the live segments that got them in trouble with the Byron Nelson classic. They can certainly make a comeback with Rhyner and a good co-host. Corby is OK and Danny is gold but they both need to be in their proper slots.

I won't miss Greggo. I think he sucks as a broadcaster and doesn't have much to offer but the occasional country rube-ism... unless you're into baseball (zzzzz).

I'd like to see Fake Greggo call into Musers from his facility at 6:40 sometime.

If Greggo's really done, I don't think they should bring someone from the outside in. That guy yesterday was sportsy and had some shtick, but his jokes sounded overly scripted. I could tell Mike wasn't into it. Chemistry is the key here, clearly, and if you're not already in the Ticket family, it takes a while to adopt the perfect tone. I don't think K-Scott's great, but at least he "gets it."

Honestly, I don't care. Sports analysis isn't that difficult.

True. Greggo can do it in a Vicodin haze.

so i was playing golf with the owner of kuby's this past weekend and we were talking about the ticket and he told me this and i'm still trying to decide if it's BS or not:

somtimes they call corby kuby (this i have heard), but the reference is to kuby's sausage and apparently the reason is b/c corby has a giant sausage in his pants

Yeah I thought so too. There's no way they'd hire some guy at retirement age to fill that spot.
I concur with this thought but which of us truly knows the thoughts of the executive team of Cumulus? Rhyner is no spring chicken but having a young daughter and his overall mindset of "I was in a band" keeps him relevant. He is a great blend of old-school knowledge and 1310 horsing around with Danny and Corby.

If another old timer were added the risk of tossing out the lower half of the target demo is run and why would they do that in afternoon drive? And that would mean perhaps that even more change would be on the horizon given the age of both of these guys.

The ESPN contest guy seemed pretty good. He was very stiff, etc but he has not had any opportunity to develop chemistry with the show. He did have flashes of humor and seemed to have a good base of sports knowledge but wasn't truly in "co-host" mode and was very careful not to step on any toes which limited his effectiveness.

I'm kinda out on K-Scott as the co-host on the Hardline. Not enough seperation between him and Corby/Danny.

I can't see any compelling reason to bring Greggo back. Over the years he's contributed less and less to the show. If he is in fact in rehab and can get clean and return to his old self then maybe - put him on a short term contract (if that's even possible) and see where it goes. I would be loathe to turn my back on a guy who has put so much time into the show but we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. Maybe he's used up his final last chance.

Corby needs to get his rear out of the studio. He's no better or worse than many of them but he was an effective yuk-monkey. It's time for the Hardline to spice it up, develop some new bits and material and re-energize the show. I think that the fan base would accept the Rhyner/Corby/Danny chemistry on an ongoing basis but the whole show just seems more staid and corporate than in the heyday.

If Corby is too entrenched then make him the co-host and get a new yuk-monkey for him to play with. Get rid of the crap-ola Entertainment news for you. That used to be funny but now it seems they're trying to give it some legitimacy and be Entertainment Tonight for a segment or two.

BaD radio has over the last few years supplanted the Hardline as my favorite show though the addition of Donovan threatens to send that show to the bottom. I hope he's better than what we see. They seem to have him shoehorned into "my black friend" mode which while occasionally funny as a change of pace has been allowed to become more the focust. He's the Black guy on the show rather than the guy on the show who happens to be black and that's too bad. I'd like to see what he could bring if they let him work (then again the HL made references to Donovan causing behind the scenes trouble so maybe that's not a good idea either).

Guess we just have to wait and see.

But if they don't get it together they will lose what they have - this extended radio family feel that I think we all like very much. If they become a super-polished corporate presentation then I think we'll all start channel-hopping.

I hate to say it but of late I've also been gravitating to Norm. It's "your father's sports talk" but he's well-connected, has great guests and has sports knowledge - particularly behind-the-scenes stuff that equals or perhaps even surpasses Bob. And he's really plugged in to the wagering side which is an aspect that no other show has.

C'mon, Little Ticket. Show us that you can still do what "they" do but that "they" cannot do what you do.

Newy Scruggs is a bit polished and kind of a blowhard, but I liked his show when he and Cooperstein did 9-12 on ESPN when they came on-air.

Surely there's a "local sports legend" like a backup QB (like Laufenberg) or some spare baseball player (big head Mench) that could come and fit right in with the personalities already on board.

Yeah but Larry Brown sucks.Deion (or Michael Irvin) would be awesome but I don't know if the Ticket Egos (read: Rhyner) could handle having another huge ego in the house. They also may be a little to "brotherly" for the station. All I know is that the rare times Deion has hosted on ESPN, he has been great.

Slow down. Those guys are used to making 1Mil+ for 20 appearances a year not 200.
