alright, if i am going to haul my ### all the way back to civilization in order to do this, it better work out.

don't forget, some of us have told the big city to keep our retirement and so-called social security and it ain't just a hop skip and jump to [ginblossoms] addison road [/ginblossoms]

Greggo doing 12-3 on an FM station? Could be interesting. I know they have BDH pulling double duty over there right now (12-3, nights) so it might seem like a good fit. But does he talk sports mostly, or just whatever. The need for a strong co-host is still there.

Since you’ll have to go cold turkey while I’m on vacation next week, thought I’d empty out my Hammer notebook before I skedaddle.Talked to Greggo last night – he was in Decatur serving as executor of his dad’s will, which meant figuring out what to do with seven boats and four Cadillacs – and he had some good news and an intriguing hint.First, he confirmed he’ll be an awards presenter at next Tuesday’s Dallas Observer Music Awards show.Second, though he still plans to nail down his ESPN gig before Cowboys’ camp end of next week, expect him to at least talk with Live 105.3 about their new Noon-3 p.m. opening in the wake of Pugs & Kelly’s departure. He said coyly that his potential partner there would seriously ruffle some P1 feathers.Hmm. Rocco? Line 4 guy? Or, my guess, this guy?

Non-Ticket news, but interesting all the same

Russ Martin Gets Arrested

As I’m packing to leave town tonight I get a call from a radio industry source saying Live 105.3 drive-time host Russ Martin was arrested Friday morning in Southlake for assaulting his girlfriend.

Sure enough.

It's not really sportsy, and I'm not sure when or why I became a radio beat writer, but it didn’t feel right to have this knowledge and not share it. On the heels of The Ticket’s Hard Lie, Live 105.3 has had a rough itself week with two hosts – Pugs & Kelly – departing and one arrested.

I leave this information in your capable hands. -- Richie Whitt
Lovely mugshot.

O.K., I'm interested (thanks for the shout-out culdeus).Been trying to backtrack thru this thread to find league specifics.Any help to a post #?North Dallas works for me, I live in Plano. Ker's Winghouse in Addison (on Beltline) could also be a consideration.BWW is fine though. What's the 50 vs. 25 pertain to?
Ker's Jailbait House in Addison is dead. Shut down about 2 months ago. So is the one in Bedford.

Wait, where's the site?

We might need an auctioneer for our draft on August 23 in McKinney. Let me know if you are interested and we'll go from there. Must be able to deal with drunk idiots. Perks possible. Apply within.

Didn't get a link in the PM, I don't think.

The 105.3 saga is certainly causing me to get out the  . What if hammer is resurrected for that station? It looks like he is all set to show up in training camp with 103.3 can he handle both shows? What about the tension as he's out at camp and the hardline is there too. Sounds like the espn show would be cowboys talk only and seasonal for 1 hour from august thru the super bowl week.

We have 11 people. Do we start a thread to entice others? I'd like to have a high probability of getting 10 in at a minimum.

I don't know if Williams can handle sports talk for a solid hour.I hope he doesn't field calls. The backlash could be brutal.

105.3 suddenly has a lot on their plate. I am curious if/when Russ Martin shows back up on the air, and how he explains away the arrest. I despise him , yet my wife is a faithful listener.

Should we pick date/time that the 11 of us can make first. That might knock us down an owner or 2.
UniAlias has joined making it 12, but to feel safe I'd still like more 14 if possible. If we have an odd number at the draft so be it. We'll work the schedule out somehow.http://www21.myfantasyleague.com/2008/home/71008

Still waiting on a few to login.

In other news the Russ Martin thing looks really serious. No show yesterday at all. This could have immediate impact in the greggo situation. No that he'd get afternoon drive, but they have to get some local talent if Russ gets any sort of major legal action.

I thought I may have heard something about that, but wasn't sure. I don't get over that way much.

No Russ Martin again today. Is there anyway that we might get that piece of white trash off the air? At what point is it appropriate for The Ticket to talk about it.

I can't recall them mentioning him outside of when they talk about the ratings.

I figure anything like this that effects radio, they have to mention it eventually. The story is getting legs as I have seen it on several newscasts now. Martin has a killer home in Southlake. Still amazes me how much radio guys make, the big ones anyway.

$400 per person to play in the Dunham/Miller Open. They are out of their effing minds.
But if I heard correctly they reduced the field size? Much like sports they are going for big money over the common man. Luxury boxes pay for stadiums, common man seating is used for what's left. Obviously the D&M Open is no longer about the common man. Honestly though I don't have a problem with it, they have enough of a following that I'm sure they will be able to fill those slots. The fact that it's on a Monday clearly indicates the demographic they are going after are wealthy people to whom work and money are minor issues. Even if I had an extra $400 I wouldn't burn a vacation day to go to it.

I don't think they are doing this as a service like ticketstock, it's a charity event. The courses don't let you tie up a weekend day. At least not the good ones anyways. Monday's are the slowest golfing days. Probably opened up some places they wouldn't be able to get to normally. In any situation I wouldn't play a scramble even if you paid me 400 bucks. I can think of no bigger beating on the planet.

Hell, the only way I played a round willingly at Cowboys was to have the company pick up the tab.

Some wannabe old Raider talked my leg off in the parking lot. That was more of a beating than a scramble.

I thought that course was supposed to be nice. Is it really not that great? I have never made it out there despite having a free round for 4 every year with the season tickets we get. :goodposting:

Don't get me wrong, it's really nice. But it's not $160 nice. I think Tour 18, Fossil Creek, or Waterchase are just as good for the money.

Fossil used to be so solid. I haven't been impressed with the condition in some time. Texas star has taken over in that area. Waterchase is way cheaper than 160. Isn't it like 55 or so? I like that course, but a few of the holes are just absurd. A little too circus golf.

There's also Two Rows on Tollway @ Trinity Mills. I guess that Cape Buffalo place is still there although I haven't heard mention of it in ages.
Yeah, I think Cape Buffalo is still open. Same layout as Wizards IIRC, so that might work well. Could reserve a room. I think that'd be the easiest way to hold a draft.
Cape is pretty far north and would be a hella trip for the people from the west. What about this BWW location?Buffalo Wild WingsIRVING (#0103)1200 Market PlaceIrving, TX 75063Phone: 972-432-0011For Aug 12th? Up to 13 people now.

That should be pretty central for everyone, close to 190/635/35.

I called and we got the last "draft kit" whatever that means at BWW at

6pm for 12 people, but more can work.

If we can get 10 to make this date we'll roll with it. Otherwise we'll start pushing for other dates. Hope everyone can make it.

Fossil is overloaded and slow. My last round there in June took 6 hours. No joke. Waterchase is $45 if you catch a coupon. I've been playing Bear Creek lately after work for $25... that course is tough to beat at that price even if it's a narrow track.

What is up with the fake billy tubbs on the internet stream

I can only hear about his cheek issues so much before it gets really old

I guess Russ Martin is back, but not talking about the situation. Could easily be one of those things that never amounts to anything and all charges are dropped for some community service or whatever.

Rhyner's comments from this article
One who would talk was Mike Rhyner of "The Ticket," KTCK-AM (1310). Mr. Rhyner's "Hardline" show runs in the same drive-time slot as The Russ Martin Show and competes for the same, primarily male, audience. A few years ago, the heated ratings battle between the two rivals took an unusual turn when Mr. Martin made a run at Mr. Rhyner's garbage.

"He thought it would be cool to hire some small-town, off-duty cops who had a side business as [private detectives], follow me around, go through my trash," Mr. Rhyner said.

Mr. Martin didn't stop there — he also targeted Mr. Rhyner's wife. "He had some people take pictures of my wife" as she was leaving gym, and he made comments about her on the air, Mr. Rhyner said.

"I'm not sure what he found in my trash," he said. "I don't think it was anything very useful."

The bit, he added, was "a very time-honored Howard Stern tactic. It's very derivative, very redundant. I'm sure to many, it was transparent that this is just another way in which he's trying to be just like Howard Stern."

Mr. Martin, and his attorney, Mr. Powers, could not be reached to did not comment on Mr. Rhyner's story.
Mr. Rhyner of The Ticket says he doesn't often hear Mr. Martin because their shows overlap. But the few times he has heard the show, he's not been impressed.

"All he talks about is himself, how great he is and how much money he makes," he said. "Everybody on the show seems to kowtow to him."

IN

6 pm will be tough for me to make, but shouldn't be anymore than 10 mins late. I can be "that guy" that asks, WHOSE GONE?! WHOSE GONE?!
