Why would they bring this up? They are on an island with no TV or innernet. I bet they talk a lot. Pretty soon you are talking about even the most minor of points I would imagine. Kind of like this thread when there is not a new episode on.edit: and I am not so sure they are that minor at all.

I suppose if all they had to worry about was alleviating boredom (it isn't) and they had exhausted a lot of other topics, it is possible that a policewoman with (I'm assuming) a number of more interesting things to talk about (e.g., getting shot, going Dirty Harry) might relate the story of her time in Australia. ANDif she did happen to relate that story to the one or two people it would be meaningful for, (i.e., either Jack or Sawyer (assuming he cared enough to relate it to Jack)), they might piece it together.But unless it was because IITS*, I don't think it would ever, ever happen

Just to be nice, they are starting some sort of Internet bridge, call it Season 2.5, which will run over the Summer. Hulk started a new thread just for it. It started with the commercial on Lost last week with the phone number.I have no idea what has been "discovered" so far, but if you want to check on that, then just read the other thread. I have a feeling it is going to mostly go through more info on entities like the Hanso Foundation and Widmore Construction that won't really come up in the TV show. Maybe it will be the back story on that.

Possible. Although Sawyer recognized that it was Jack's Dad from one little phrase a drunk said to him in a bar that Jack happened to mention in passing.I could see AL and Bernard staying up late, deep into the first shift watching for the Others and in desperate need of small talk Bernard asks "So, what brings you to Australia?" Doesn't seem that far fetched at all.

But, let's say Jack is never going to find out that AL was his father's accomplice in all of this and that she knew the reason he was in Australia. Why show the audience this? What is the added value from showing us that Jack's dad was in Australia to see Jack's step sister (or half sister or whatever it is)? Is it just for us to all go "wow" or is there some hidden meaning behind this connection? Once we figure that out, then we have something.

The season 2.5 thing is called the Lost Experience.It shouldn't interfere with the show, and won't be brought up on the show.

It will, most likely, provide insight into the show and what may unravel in the future.

If you want to take a look at Hulk's thread, I thought there was something in there where the show folks talked about why they are doing it.It sounded to me like if you just watched the TV show that you wouldn't miss out on the big answer. It just sounded like they realized how fanatic some of the fans are. While everyone knows that the Hanso foundation is behind Dharma and creating all of the bunkers, etc., this Internet bridge will probably explore the Hanso foundation and all of the Hanso people and their other experiments. Maybe the people that check it out will feel like the know a lot more, it still won't answer the questions like what is the black smoke monster, who is Him, etc.

I will be interested to see how Jack finds out AL knew his dad.  I am guessing she told Bernard or Ecko why she was in Australia and somehow Jack finds out (perhaps in a eulogy)?

Anyone else think it was odd that Anna Lucia hung around Australia so long after ditching Jack's dad.  There was a decent stretch of time between her dropping him off at the bar and Flight 815.

I guess it is plausible that everything that took place between her dropping Jack's dad and the flight was only one or two days. But, IIRC, Sawyer did his thing and Jack's dad had time to die and Jack arrived to claim the body which I would think would be more than one or two days. Even if she was waiting for a cheaper fare, she was doing something. Now, if Michelle Rodriguez (is that her name) is off the show never to return, than it is a moot point. But, why stick around Australia especially if you just ditched the guy that was paying you to be there?
