***Official Marvel's Jessica Jones -Netflix original series- Series Canceled but 3rd and Final Season live as of June 2019 (1 Viewer)

well, there goes visiting this thread for a week or so until I find time to watch the new season.

Dam work and Family plans.. :kicksrock:

Watched the first episode before work. Decent start. Jumps into some new story arcs pretty quick.

Re: end of Episode 6.

Wow, I completely called that one right a couple of episodes earlier..

Yeah, you knew it was going to be her mom the first time she shows up on screen when she said it was the way certain DNA reacted to the treatments that gave Jessica her powers and then she had the same abilities as Jessica.

I think I will never understand in TV shows and movies why the protagonist seems to forgive anything if it’s done by members of their family. Hey, Mom, I know you’re a super-strong person who goes on uncontrollable killing sprees when she gets ticked, but maybe if we just go out of the country, it’ll be okay. And, if not, we can try something different. Just so long as we never have you locked up where you can’t hurt anyone and someone might even try to help you get better someday. Because you’re my mom and that would be sad.

End of Ep 11 comment.

I really was not wanting them to have Kilgrave hallucinations in Jessica's head.

That said, David Tennant is so F'ing good I didn't mind.

Finished it tonight.  Low spoiler comments first.

I liked it overall.  The story focus is a little different than any of the other Marvel series so far.  There's superhero stuff and super powered stuff, but it doesn't have quite the same sort arc of the big recognizable bad guy with super powers who has to be defeated at the end.  I hope that doesn't turn too many people off.  It worked for me though I'm anticipating some may not care for it as much.

Ok, now the specifics.

The first season was my favorite of all the Marvel mainly because of Jessica's flaws.  Tennant was fantastic as a villain, but I got drawn into Jessica's character.  Despite her being a heavy drinking tough girl type that is normally not very intriguing to me.

So season 2 ending up being about her as much as it was played into what I enjoyed about season one.  I think it might have been a wise move to not try to replace Tennant with another super villain right away.  I think anything else was going to suffer in comparison.

Trish is interesting in that I'd have thought she would be a source of strength in Jessica's life given her career ambition, success, etc.  However she ends up being the weakest of all of the characters, rarely able to make a wise choice for herself (though she does sometimes make good choices when it's about someone else).

Liked how things went for Malcolm, and interested to see where it goes for him in the future with how things ended.  I thought the Hogarth plot line was also pretty good.  It was a little slow early but thought it finished strong.  Especially how she dealt with Inez and the fake healer guy.

I'm afraid the ending might be a let down for some, but I liked seeing what Jessica went through at the end with the evolution of her feelings for her mother and what she was willing to do and not.

I did have brief, brief hopes when I heard "Westchester" that they were going to hit Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters... but figured that was extremely unlikely.  Ah well.   :kicksrock:

I'd slot it ahead of Punisher, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.   Probably in the same tier for me as Daredevil 2 and Defenders.

I finished the season last night.  It's somewhere in my top 5 Marvel series definitely behind JJ1, The Punisher and DD 1. Ritter is very good in this role and the main reason I enjoy it as much as I do. I like that Jessica has numerous flaws and yet we still root for her. Trish was in this season much more than the last but she was more annoying than anything else.  Hoping for a season 3.

Yeah, I'm not on the Trish train.

Season was bad...it was like they took all the out of work daytime soap writers and made 13 episodes out of it.  Very disappointing.

I’m through nine episodes and I agree - “soap opera” is precisely what came to mind, before even reading your post. Hoping it finishes strong.

Just finished season 2 and really liked what they did there.. At time it got annoying. But overall it was great to see them "bring him back" without "bringing him back".

:goodposting: JJ1 is still number for me also.. and then Punisher and then JJ2..
Just started watching DD right before JJ2 came out so can't add that to my list yet but so far pretty good.

I do know Luke Cage is still at the very bottom of the Marvel shows I've watched completely. No interest in Iron Fist and only made it through 2 episodes of defenders and was getting bored.

Iron Fist and Defenders were bad...but at least they had an antagonist, a purpose to the show.  The only antagonist I can find in JJ season 2 is the writing.

This.

I liked Iron Fist for the most part. It wasn’t amazing or anything, but it was better than whatever show this was.

I should edit my previous post to reflect that I am only referring to the netflix shows — i never saw shield or agent carter etc.

I liked season 2. Probably my third favorite of these Netflix shows behind Punisher and Season 1. And the first half of Luke Cage.

:goodposting:

Say what you want about Iron Fist, but while the actor playing him wasn't very good, at least they had a villain

JJ2 was terrible.  Trish, intolerable.
A villain?  As I recall they had about six villains that would switch from episode to episode.

Wasn't as good as season 1, but still enjoyed it... Currently, of those that I've watched, I am along the lines of

JJ1, then Punisher, then JJ2..   I am only 4 episodes into season 1 of DD, but enjoying it so far..

Luke Cage is WAY down the list.. Maybe it was the 2nd half that sucked so bad it made me dislike even the 1st half but I currently have no desire to watch Season 2 of Cage whenever it comes out.

Yeah, I figured this season was going to be polarizing.  It wasn't your normal super hero vs super villain story.  If Jessica's story as a character isn't as compelling to someone, they probably won't have cared for the season much.

For me, her facing her demons in JJ1 was my favorite bit of story from all the Netflix Marvel shows. Felt her turmoil when she hooked up with Luke, etc, added tremendous depth to season 1. So I didn't at all mind them going off in season 2 and digging into her deeper.

I bet they go back to more traditional super villain in season 3 though, assuming there is one.

If they confined the non-action/character development aspect you discuss to Jessica' storyline, it would have worked better for me.  But there were a number of other soap opera storylines layered in there that I could have done without.  The super's custody battle.  The mom's love story with her doctor.  Trish's relationship with her mom/agent.  In fact, the whole god awful Trish as a teen pop star backstory.  Way too much Days of Our Lives and way too little Marvel.

I'm in the minority here, but I actually liked JJ2 better than JJ1.  Kilgrave was awesome in season 1, but I just did not like JJ as a character at all and it killed the whole season for me.  Season 2 IMHO did a better job of showing what makes JJ who she is.  I didn't mind the lack of supervillian as I prefer antagonists who display some sympathetic qualities.  Alfred Molina's Doc Ock is still my favorite Marvel villain.  Will agree with the others saying there were too many soap opera side stories that added nothing to the season.

The funny thing is that there was may more super hero power stuff actually on the screen in this season than in JJ1 (or DD1 for that matter).

Finally finished the season. Very up and down for me.  Def behind DD1 and 2 and JJ1 for me in terms of Netflix shows.  Probably similar to Defenders and above Cage/IronFist.

Struggled with the mom angle.  Looking forward to a season 3 though, some Hellcat action maybe?

Will be watching DD3 and Cage 2 when they come out.

Finally finished season 2. So boring. By far the worst of all the marvel series. And i thought season 1 was the best. Even watched it twice.

It was pretty dull.. But I'd put up the 2nd half of Luke Cage as the "worst" of the Marvel series I've watched (Didn't bother with Iron Fist)..
The 2nd half of Luke Cage was so bad, I'm not tempted in the least to start Season 2. Which is too bad as I liked his character in JJ. :kicksrock:

Can you skip season one and just watch 2 if you are at least aware of his character from the JJ role?

I kind of feel is better as a secondary character as he was in JJ season 1 but maybe this one is worth watching, just don't want to have to suffer through season 1 :)

You really should watch season 1.  You wont' be lost if you don't, but it does provide the basis for some of the action in season 2.

Or at least read https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Cage_(season_1)

Would be tough to follow unless you at least read a detailed synopsis.

Ugh. I’m watching the new season of Iron Fist. Why do I do this to myself?  At least the fight choreography is improved in this one.

I know many people have complained about the final episode of Punisher, and I did not mind that so much, but :barf: for the final episode of Luke Cage.  Overall really liked the season but that last episode. . .

Hopefully it finishes strong.  There's reason for trepidation since JJ S2 was quite possibly the worst one released, and that's saying something considering Defenders and Iron Fist.

Honestly, the only one I wish they kept going at this point is Punisher.
