Same here. Jones is going to be my achille's heel this year, trying to decide when to start him and when to bench his multiple TDs. He's golden in survivor or "best play" formats, but with normal leagues, I predict headaches for his owners (including me in 2 dynasties)I'm fully on the bandwagon...But he's being benched this week.![]()
I think he had another either overthrown or underthrown in week 1 as well. Come'on guys, get some extra PT together and get that timing down. This could be a truly great combo for years to come if they can start connecting on these routes.Left out of the statline: 2 crutial plays inside the 20 in the 2nd half had leftwitch lobbing up jumpers to Jones in the endzone. Both were overthrown. Once leftwich figures out his timing with matt, those targets will start to convert.
I hesitated for a couple of weeks before dropping him because I thought for sure somebody would pick him up. 5 weeks later and he's still sitting on waivers, and this is a 14-team league.Between this guy and Chambers I really bombed out with my WR picks. At least chambers has been fairly productive. Is this train out of gas ?? I'm seeing him dropped everywhere.![]()
So, since you dropped him in our dynasty league this week, does that mean the bandwagon is pretty much done?ALL ABOARD
Indeed. I was on this wagon last season. I ended up having Leftwich as my QB2 also, so I watched several Jags games. Matt Jones may be a great athlete, but he's a terrible WR. This year when he was drafted (only Jags receiver drafted in any of my leagues), I would just chuckle.
Not a good sign when the creator of the matt jones thread dumps him
ORLY?I'm not going to go back and edit my rookie rankings, but I consider Jones a serious option as the second WR on the board. I'd even have to consider him over Braylon Edwards. Note: this isn't based off of one catch. I said the same thing a week or two ago.
Every year of FF teaches you lessons. I used to be big on "high upside" guys like Q. Morgan, Calico, McPherson, and M. Jones. These days? Not so much. It's been my experience that most projects never get finished. If a guy can't play football, he never will be able to play football. The success of guys like Jennings, Gonzalez, and Holmes has definitely taught me a little bit about what type of receivers do well in the league. Jones never had a chance. He was just a big, lumbering dude who could run fast in a straight line. FWIW, I only drafted him in one league and I traded him for a 2008 1st round pick, so he never burned me personally.ORLY?I'm not going to go back and edit my rookie rankings, but I consider Jones a serious option as the second WR on the board.
