***Official National Signing Day thread*** (2 Viewers)

I have to admit, I've lost the love for recruiting I've had in the past. Signing day used to be unbelievably stressful, but now it seems to be kind of a ho-hum affair for Bama fans. Saban has it rolling like a machine. But I've seen some Bama fans saying that this could possibly be the best recruiting class we've ever signed? Is that true? Better than the Julio/Ingram/Barron/Dareus/Hightower/Barrett Jones/Upshaw/Cody class. Is that true? I can't imagine a class ever beating the 2008 class. I realize hindsight is 20/20, but is this class possibly going to be rated higher initially than that class? (which brought in 6 first rounders, plus Barrett Jones, Damion Square and Robert Lester in the upcoming draft)

First surprise of the day I think with Vonn Bell selecting OSU over UT.
Disappointing for sure. Someone on SI made the point that Tennessee should have had a bit of a recruiting advantage because they have a LOT of open spots on both sides of the ball. Bell would have started from day 1.I'm not above admitting that the road "back" won't be easy for the vols. they are in a tough division plus play bama every year and the cupboard is fairly empty in terms of talent. That said, jones seems to know what he is doing.

:goodposting: Because UM's going to get cornholed for the forseeable future...
Based on what?
Based on my opnion that the team I root for is superior to yours and the coach of said school is a supreme recruiter that will continue this trend over the next several years.That.

Lots of talk about Priest Willis to LSU. Why are his parents out of town on NSD? How come he doesn't know when they are coming back? Anybody have any thoughts on this?
He's solid to UCLA. It was a miscommunication and he'll be faxing his letter today or tomorrow.

Highest ranked at NSD...Yes its possible. Kids like Ingram and Jones were 4 stars...Dareus and Square were 3 stars, which is a good example of how hard it is to rank lineman. Of course, the guys who were doing the Rivals rankings in 08 are now doing the 247 rankings and use a tweaked scoring system...so hard to compare apples to apples. I think the 13 class will be weighted more to the top though.

Mississippi?I don't even remember the last time they were even discussed on recruiting day.
It's the most surprising class in the history of this level of recruiting focus....probably by a mile.

Oh, so not based on any type of factual analysis. That's a relief.

Bentley and I have gone rounds about the state of UTexas football, but I will grant that the anemic class today is concerning. They did, however, sign a quarterback so at least they will now have one on the roster.

Well since they secured top five classes pretty much every year for the last ten years, maybe a bad class is exactly what they needed to turn it around.

Looks like Notre Dame just committed a minor infraction on Eddie Vanderdoes. They released a statement on their signees including Eddie Vanderdoes. He has not sent in a NLI to anyone yet.

Looks like Tashawn Bower to LSU. P Willis looking less and less likely.
He's going to UCLA. From a press conference with Fox Sports an hour ago..."I can't sign unfortunately," Willis said to Scout's Inna Lazarev, "If (my mom) was here, I'd be signing (for UCLA) today. I'm 100% Bruin. This is my school, and I'll be attending there next year. There is nothing to worry about."

4 star OT, Christian Morris out of Tennessee, officially signed with UCLA. 4 star DE, Kylie Fitts (former Southern Cal commit), has sent in his NLI to UCLA.

Likely the most important h2h battle of the day:RT @ BHSN BREAKING NEWS: Boone HS punter Johnny Townsend will most likely signs NLOI with Alabama NOT Ohio State.

Urban to Townsend, "Don't worry, we don't need you any more. ;) "
With Meyers rep on Special Teams....and the way our punters have stunk...I'll take it!

Pretty happy with Nebraska's class. Overall probably the best that Pelini has had. Looks a little lite on Rivals stars but nearly every 3 star is rated 4 on one service or another and is a high 3. Very deep on OL, DL and LB. Arguably the top RBs out of both CA and TX, and a good dual threat QB prospect. The only misses were more DB and WR options, and a much needed juco who could step in and contribute ata DT.

4 star LB, Isaac Savaiinaea, signs with UCLA.
:excited: :thumbup:This is becoming awesome!
The only two question marks really remaining for UCLA are 4 star QB, Asiantii Woulard out of Florida and 5 star DT Eddie Vanderdoes. 4 star LB Cameron Judge is also a question mark, but ASU site mods are saying he's going there. And, all signs seem to be pointing to Eddie Vanderdoes to Notre Dame. It's possible, if not probable, that Vanderdoes faxed his NLI to Notre Dame and they simply screwed up by including him in their list of signees prior to letting him announce his decision.

This is a new feeling for UMass fans, now that Molnar has had a full season to recruit his type of players.Got a surprise OL from Germany who originally committed to Wyoming, and none of the recruiting services even had UMass on the radar.Waiting on a solid 3-star RB from Miami named Lorenzo Woodley. Supposedly down to South Florida and UMass, although USF just got a RB (Darius Tice) to flip from Cincy, so he might be third in line there. He also said he won't be signing today.:nervous:
