***Official NLCS Thread: Giants vs. Cardinals (1 Viewer)

Bochy does a lot of things right but I don't see why he started Bumgarner tonight. He's off and it cost them the game
You have to start Bumgarner sometime and he's better at home. His only other options were Cain on short rest or Lincecum whose role seems defined for the post-season.
You expecting Lincecum start on Thursday?
He threw 24 pitches tonight so Thursday isn't out of the question. I'd rather see Timmy than Zito but I'm not the manager.

Bob Weir and Phil Lesh with the Anthem and Tony Bennett last night on God Bless America- gotta admit that SF is going to beat STL in this department. Maybe Nelly shows up.

Basepaths got watered down too much - it looks messy out there and slowing down some of these infield hits

I beleive that is the first SF lead in the postseason at ATT this year

Good game by the Giants tonight. I don't know why I am always nervous before Vogelsong starts, but once he gets going I always feel really confident when he's on the mound. The Cards were pretty sloppy, and I can't imagine they'll continue that going forward. Should see some more good games in this series.

Thoroughly enjoyable game once I muted Joe Fn Buck and listened to KNBR.

Seriously...why do we get two Cards fanboys calling the game? And why is Buck even on the air, dude is terrrrible.

p.s. Brian Wilson is a clown. tia

I miss Smoltz and Ernie.
:goodposting: I've been #####ing about Joe Buck for years and years, Fox won't listen to me. Tim McCarver is just adding insult to injury, it's the dumb leading the dumb. I wish MLB network would just take some of these games and allow Fox the rebroadcast rights at a lesser cost. Everything moves through MLB TV, all Fox has to do is provide the fiber and the signal.

As a Cards fan, really hating that slide by Holliday. Just a bad idea for the team and could have caused some serious injury. I'm hoping he didn't intend it to be as dirty as it ended up being but was still a terrible play nonetheless and may have given some extra motivation that just wasn't needed.

Game 3 may end up deciding this series and looking forward to a prime pitching matchup.

Crawford should have put that relay in Yadi's teeth in the 9th.

I agree..I am all for playing the game hard but that was one of the cheapest shots I have seen in quite awhile. That could have caused a very serious break between the hip and knee or totally blown his knee out. It is a miracle he did not get hurt worse. I know that Holliday probably did not mean to injure but when you are running full speed and go that far past the bag..or not even attempt to hit the bag that puts fellow players careers in peril.

Supposedly, during Holliday's next AB he talked to Buster and said that he didn't mean to come in that hard and to pass along a "sorry" to the SS.

Matt Cain on facing Holliday next, "If one gets away, one gets away"

:wall:

Not smart Cain, now you just riled up the Cards after they riled up the Giants with Holliday's slide
You are cherry picking. Cain faces the St. Louis Cardinals' newly minted villain Wednesday in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series. And there's already speculation about a brush-back pitch in the wake of Holliday's controversial slide into Marco Scutaro.

Asked on Tuesday if he was worried about the extra scrutiny on his inside fastballs, Cain shrugged.

"If something gets away from you inside, that's part of the game," he said.

"I've been a guy that's always go to challenge him, and he's a guy that's going to challenge you at the plate," Cain said Tuesday before a workout at Busch Stadium. "He's not afraid to swing the bat." Cain said the key to his approach against Holliday is location. Because the 6-foot-4, 235-pounder swings hard, mistakes can be extra costly.

"It's not going to be for a little sloppy single," he said. "It's going to be something that is going off the wall or over it."

I would like to go on the record as saying, #### the Cardinals. I hope Holliday Matt Carpenter dies of gonorrhea and rots in hell with Dan Marino.
