Didn't see a thread for this...just wondering what people think about drafting from this position...I don't particularly like the spot myself.

Do you go with Steven Jackson, Deangelo or Moss with your first pick. Johnson or Gore will be gone. Marshall, Charles, Mendenhall may be there with your next pick. When do you draft your QB? Do you reach for Romo with your third pick or see if he will fall to you with your 4th?

I love the spot and picked it, and if Johnson & Gore are gone (I bet 1 is still there in my league) I would take Turner without hesitation because of his consistency and liklihood of putting up a top 8-10 season is almost a guarantee if he stays healthy and then sweep up the value in rounds 2 & 3 that fall to you. If you could start out with a RB1 like Gore/Turner and pair him up with D. Williams and a top 6-8 WR...that is gravy! I think you really need to snag a QB fairly early this year or try to double up a few rounds later with a Kolb/Eli/Flacco/Ryan combo...there will be no waiting on David Garrards this year!

just throwing this out there....Micheal Turner has 11 receptions in two years with falcons.
Yeah, to go with his 27 TDsHe finished #6 in PPR leagues in 2008 and was on a equal or better pace last year before he got dinged up ...he has no competition for carries and is the goalline RB on a top 10-15 offense. In 2008, he had 376 carries at 4.5 YPC, last year he was up to 178 at 4.9 YPC...Who is a better bet to finish top 10 that will be available?? I'd say Moss, but he would be a reach at 1.07, IMO and he could potentially fall to you in the 2nd round. The thing is, if you get an anchor like Turner or Gore, you can stock up at other positions before you come back to RB...kind of like if you have a top 4 pick. If a guy like Williams falls to you in the 2nd round, you are sitting pretty!I guess my philosophy is why reach for SJAX, D. Williams or even Moss when you might get one of them in the 2nd round?

I have this pick myself in a PPR league. I don't like it much either.

I keep wavering between going Moss or Turner at the 1st spot. In the 2nd I'm really hoping either Marshall, Austin or Roddy White is available but in most of the mocks I've been doing lately they are all gone and I'd rather take D.Williams.

Turner/D.Williams/ HOPEFULLY Welker is a solid start to a team though

Not sold on either Moss or Turner though that early, wish I was picking a bit later.

Yeah if Gore or Johnson are not available I think I will be forced to go with Turner and hope that he has a bounce back year. I will likely take the best available WR in the second round(hopefully R. White). I will likely go with Romo in the third. If you can get a RB in the first round you can wait a bit for your RB2 because there is some value in rounds 5-7.

I would go with Turner there, obviously being biased, just don't know even though I like him and he was available, if I could go with both Turner AND White 1/2. I'm 9 in our league and hoping Turner slips there. Will go with Moss if he doesn't.

Just finished a shark/guppy draft last night from the 7 hole. 12 team league became 10 teams at the last minute, so bear that in mind. PPR, all TDs 6 pts, standard yardage scoring, TE required.

1.7 - Andre Johnson (Turner went #6 after the big 4 RBs and Gore)

2.4 - Aaron Rodgers (Manning and Brees went between 1.8 and 2.3, so I grabbed the last of the elite.)

3.7 - Roddy White (wanted to go RB here, but RBs were flying off, leaving value at WR)

4.4 - Greg Jennings (same story)

5.7 - LeSean McCoy (inexplicably still sitting there, along with my next two picks)

6.4 - Jahvid Best (word hasn't gotten out to the guppy set yet.)

7.7 - CJ Spiller

8.4 - Ahmad Bradshaw (J. Stewart and Reggie Bush were also both available at 7.7 and i had planned to take one here, but both went on the turn)

9.7 - Heath Miller (best TE left, the big guys went in the 3rd/4th rounds, was targeting Arian Foster, but he went at 9.3)

10.4 - Pittsburgh D (got ahead of the DEF run)

11.7 - Lee Evans (best VBD left)

12.4 - Jay Cutler (didn't really need him, but value was too good to pass up here. No one wanted him.)

13.7 - Brandon Jacobs (wanted to lock up Giants backfield in case he or Bradshaw gets hurt.)

14.4 - Jeremy Shockey (best backup TE left)

15.7 - Jerricho Cotchery (again, best remaining VBD)

16.4 - Garrett Hartley (#1 kicker, 4 or 5 had already been taken)

17.7 - Ben Roethlisberger (some teams are weak at QB, so this is trade bait for midseason on)

18.4 - Steve Slaton (worth a flyer this late)

I'm hoping to land either Gore or Turner at 7....even in a PPR league I have no worries of taking a horse that doesn't have a TD vulture standing in his way.

I do like Gore alot also but I gots me a feeling he'll be gone...and I'll be taking Turner over A.J

I persoanlly won't select a WR that high in the 1R...

Now if Turner + Gore are both on the board

And if Turner + Gore are both gone :wall:

if turner/gore there, take gore, imo.if both gone, take andre johnson as he should be avail.

I drafted from the 7th spot in one of the FBG/FFPC players championship leagues (PPR, TE 1.5) a couple weeks ago. Here is the result. Keep in mind that this league allows two flex (WR, RB, TE)

I felt like I was just missing on the value at most of the mid round picks. I grabbed Davis in the 2nd after the two teams on the turn went Gates\Witten and Clark\Finley respectively. That put me a bit behind the curve at WR. At 3.07 I was looking at either McCoy\ Best at RB or Nicks\Crabtree\Welker at WR. I figured Brees was more of a sure things than any of those five. Mathews, Charles, both Steve Smiths and Jennings had went off the board just in front of me. In retrospect, I would have probably went with Welker who I thought might make it back to me as this draft was before he showed himself in the preseason.

3.07 Drew Brees

15.07 Josh Freeman

1.07 Michael Turner

6.06 Reggie Bush

10.06 Darren Sproles

8.06 Donald Brown

3.07 Toby Gerhart

19.07 Jonathan Dwyer

4.06 Chad Ochocinco

7.07 Santana Moss

9.07 Derrick Mason

11.07 Jacoby Jones

12.06 Jerricho Cotchery

14.06 Joshua Cribbs

16.06 Arrelious Benn

2.06 Vernon Davis

5.07 Kellen Winslow

18.06 Hernandez

20.06 David Buehler

17.07 Miami Dolphins

Just finished my draft. I am happy with the result. I am admittedly a Giants fan. Probably should not have drafted all of these Giants though :shark: Some good value at RB fell to me.

Just finished the 7th pick in a draft with son as he is working his FF team these days:

Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1Flex, 1TE, K, DEF

1. Andre Johnson, WR

2. Peyton Manning, QB

3. Ryan Matthews, RB

4. Matt Forte, RB

5. Reggie Bush, RB

6. Jermichael Finley, TE

7. Ahmad Bradshaw, RB

8. Marion Barber, RB

9. Hakeem Nicks, WR

10. Leon Washington, RB

11. Darren McFadden, RB

12. Ben Roethlisberger, QB

13. Saints DEF

14. Chester Taylor, RB

15. Mike Williams, WR, Tampa Bay

16. Mason Crosby, K

I think what I learned is what so many have stated this year, don't reach for RBs early. You can take real STUDS as they present themselves and still feel very comfortable in PPR scoring with 3 solid starting RBs that will fill up the stat column every week in those offenses. Will say I missed on WR2 position a little with TO going a pick before Nicks but I still will tell you Nicks numbers this year will have a "Burress" feel to them IMO.

10 teams or 12? Either way, I really like what you did here in rounds 1-6. I've never not drafted at least 1 RB in the first 2 rounds, but I'm strongly considering it this year if I don't get a top 5 pick. I feel like it's a total crapshoot beyond Gore and there's no reason to waste first or second round picks on RB when you could get an elite WR or QB.

Here is what I got last night from the 7 hole...surprise pick at 1.06 when Mathews went before Gore, Turner (AJ went at 1.05)

Just missed on a few guys that I was targeting like J.Finley/Celek, etc… but I’m pretty happy with my squad. QB & TEs went very early, so I got the best of the rest and doubled up. I’ve got 3 good PPR RBs and a handful of high upside back-ups but my starting WRs/flex and my WR depth is pretty strong!

Here is what I got from the 7 hole

If Gore and Andre Johnson are there I think I will go with Johnson. If both Gore and Johnson are gone I will go with Turner then hope to get Roddy White in the second round. I was thinking of reaching a bit for Romo in the third but I am second guessing myself now with the reports that the Oline doesn't look all that good. What do others think?
